Cause i dont like watching us get turned over by every man and his dog. I’d rather have played a solid low block instead of leaving huge gaps in midfield yet again for 3 grandads to cover. You simply can’t play that way with Cas, Evans and Eriksen on the pitch. A bit of common sense would be nice.
I can’t see why Southgate would be interested in the United job, or any club job really. He’s currently managing his national team on (I assume) a good wage. The squad that he has access to is guaranteed to take him to the latter stages of any tournament on their own sheer quality regardless of how he sets them up, and there are many more quality players in the pipeline. There is very little pressure on him in his job to achieve more than what he’s currently achieving and there don’t seem to be any murmurs of discontent or someone else being sought after for the job.
He is in about as ideal a position as he could ever find himself in. The club management scene is far more volatile with a lot more pressure and expectation. I can’t see why it would appeal to him unless he has it in his mind that he can succeed in club football and wants to have a go at it again.
Well you've hit the nail on the head there mate, there will be no long term gain in persevering with a system that isn't working (probably not even with our best XI) because it will get him sacked and unless for some inexplciable reason the next manager decides to play exactly the same way then it's all been a pointless endevour.
It's the common "blame everyone bar the manager" theme that RedCafe is very fond of.
So why is ETH exempt from judgement and consequences and not his current goalkeeper coach, fitness coaches, Fletcher, McLaren etc?

I don’t think a season of pretty much awful game after game after game… and seemingly getting worse, is impatient.
I really wanted him to work and for some of this season, I’ve been willing to be patient because of last year v this year in terms of injuries. But even with injuries, we look shite… shape, tactic, transition, subs, all of it.

I'm hoping that's the case. Imagine finally getting the right people in the right positions, to land on Southgate as our next manager. It just doesn't make sense.
ETH isn't a giant victim, but appointments need to made across the board first.
We see ETH first of course because he's the coach. He is the most visible person at the club, on the touch line and giving the press conferences.
We know that not much has changed in over a decade, in terms of Carrington, in terms of not modernizing the departments across the board at the club.
If we take out ETH right now and put any coach in place it will be the same, we're just not a well run club.
I think we can't make a decision on the coach until the very least Ashworth but if we're a well run club it doesn't matter what coach we have, since we have specialists in every facet of the club means we get a brilliant coach that does solely that, coaching. (I'm not for or against ETH but there are other priorities that we need to make before we get a new coach in / stick or twist).
That's where Wilcox needs to do his audit first, and then we need the likes of Ashworth through the door.
The goal isn't to be knee jerk for a marginal bounce, we need to be challenging for major honours again.
Time will tell of course.

Absolutely stupid move if true. Southgate has failed at club level, he’s doing OK with the National Team as he gets the pick of the bunch from every club. Also, we need somebody up and running as soon as possible to prepare for next season - can’t wait until the Euros are over. Just get Tuchel as soon as Bayern have finished with ECL imo.

That we tried the softer approach with the players with Ole and that won nothing. There's just nothing to recommend this appointment other than that it might make our British players a bit happier maybe?

You know nothing, to be honest. He's a journalist and gets what he's given or the club want him to have. I'm pretty sure Scholes, Owen, Neville etc all talk to each other and probably still many people involved at the club. If you don't think they know anything then that is what is hilarious.
