If that is the case it has been a plan that hasn’t included several key players, so it is unlikely.
And we’ve had plenty of issues with attack that limit variation. We’ve had one striker available for much of the season, so no proper alternative there. We’ve had Rashford and Garnacho as the two wide players consistently available. Amad injured for the first half of the season. Sancho missing all season. Antony has had his own issues. The attack has largely picked itself, with the only question being which two from Rashford, Antony and Sancho.
You would imagine that Mount was part of any plan that he had at the start of the season. But then he was injured all season. Mainoo was also key. But he was injured for first three months. If you think starting Scott McTominay weekly was Ten Hag’s plan and NOT just an idea yo get through Saturday, I’d say that is a strange take.
Well that's what Ten Hag keeps saying his system isn't working because players are unavailable. Ok but change the fecking system to suit the players you have then. It's called management so manage the situation.
McTominay continued starting games long after Eriksen, Mainoo, Amrabat and Casemiro were all fit.
