'Time is running out for him to secure his future'

Does anybody else remember the tweets a few months ago saying Ineos won't sack before summer 'unless the wheels really fall off'? Well, aren't we there yet? Just how low do they want us to sink?

Listening to Owen and Scholes, it seems like an absolute no-brainer to give it McClaren till the end of the season, at the very least.

Yeah FFS INEOS at least do that, maybe then there is a tiny chance of giving City a game at Wembley

Can it though? This seems like magical thinking. You can't wave a chequebook in a few weeks and replace all the wrong players with all the right ones. That's not how it works or ETH wouldn't be in this mess.

Course you can. ETH is in this mess because the blokes at the club haven't got the ability. Not because its impossible.

I really hope INEOs are reviewing how players have been responding to the tough season. For all the “ETH” is at fault for everything, sick and tired of players getting a pass.

And I don’t mean a pass from fans, I mean from the club. So many players the last 11 years , kept on with extended contracts or until their contracts ran out.

These shirkers cannot go unpunished too

It’s fairytale thinking and setting themselves up for a very disappointing two years with that kind of “let’s spend 200 mil and get the right manager and it will be grand”.

11 years of dysfunction is gonna be hard to fix in a few months or a few windows. Especially as Woodward blew our financial advantage and we now have to be clever like every other club. Only we’ve been a f.8king mess and a massive joke at squad building,

the gaffer certainly has to hold up his hand after this defeat but clearly several of the players need to go after that performance yesterday but even most of the season they've taken the piss
Felt similar to that game against Watford that sealed Ole's fate.

I'm convinced by what Owen said in particular that McClaren would set us up better. As he said, there's no way he's allowed to influence anything as we look too bad. They both seemed absolutely convinced that McClaren would do better than this, and they have worked under him.

I think Standards start at the top. The owners , the ceo and the new football infrastructure will set higher standards in all departments. This will mean it won’t he all on the manager to compensate for an incompetent setup throwing massive money at the problem.

It will also give the “sack the manager sooner” fans what they want but not why they think. A more efficient club will be in a position to hire/fire quicker and without as much disruption.

ETH labelling us as a team that is generally “difficult to beat “ right after a humbling by a mid-table side is utterly laughable. He also made it a point to emphasise we’ve only lost 4 games in 2024. The man needs to leave football

Why are you calling me Eric? Because i think your ratings are way too harsh, i must be ETH? That is pretty lame dont you think?

Malacia was fairly cheap, had some good games but had the misfortune to miss this season with a bad injury and now he is championship quality and brittle? Players can miss a lot off football with a bad injury without being brittle. Happend to Roy Keane even. Malacia also is exactly the transfer people cry out for. Young players with potential to grow.

Eriksen came on a free (which is important for you since you use it as something against the Mount transfer), had a decent year but is also a bad transfer now? For a player who came on a free and isnt actually on that high of a wage for a free transfer player.

Then there is the weird Hojlund has a t-rex running style comment and that he needs to learn how to run? Even when he is one of the fastest players in the league?

Also using the 7 shirt against Mount (and ETH) is weird in my opinion. After Owen, Valencia and di Maria wore that shirt, it isnt like Mason Mount shouldnt be allowed to wear it.
Those ratings are way too soft and I mean he needs to be shown how to make the right runs not run down a blind alley, yes he’s quick but we’ve hardly seen examples of that, a new coach and a new DOF especially one like Dan Ashworth will look at Newcastle recruitment at half the outlay to ours and think what on earth went on

Lewis Hall at £30m or Malacia at £15m?
Or Maybe TiVo Livremento?

Stop defending the Manager and the players, only 12 at maximum should be here next year but that’s not possible so it will be probably 15 or 16 staying, the coach on other hand, he’s long gone!

For the record most of this squad is currently being coached like a championship squad which is why we nearly lost to mid table championship club in a FA Cup Semi Final!

How you can compare Valencia with Mount is beyond me!

Last nites result probably the straw that breaks the camels back. Problem is who out there is good enough to replace ETH ? I don’t really see anyone on paper.

How can people watch us play like this for an entire year and still think this...

I dont need to give examples as to why he's clueless of course.

He banned journalists for criticising our FA cup performance. He called them "embarrassing" for making obvious, fair critiques of how we played then, and how we've played all season.
Thanks, really illuminating

The bigger question is what are INEOs plans this summer and next season ?

Whether it’s keep ETH or replace him , getting in the likes of Tuchel if United aren’t gonna be spending big and have a squad heavily reliant on youngsters, is prob not the kind of project to keep a Tuchel happy.

It’s clear that ETH will be sacked after the FA Cup final even if he pulls a Houdini on Pep, which is utterly inconceivable. I’m reluctant to embrace words like “disgraceful” as I do believe he has carried himself with dignity. But the results are what they are and there is no realistic path forward with him.

One thing is for sure (and thank feck for it), Wilcox and Berrada won’t be pulling up images of starting 11s under Sir Alex to show ten Hag the mistakes he’s currently making.

Just the usual self-preservation bluster that you always hear from managers who are on the verge of being sacked.

Why is it hard for some fans and ineos to believe that maybe ten hag is just a yet another terrible recruitment by a regime that has form for not only picking out of date and out of depth managers but the player recruitment is just as bad,

How does a serious journalist like Mitten actually think this? This is unequivocally the worst coached side in the league and as bad as we’ve ever been post-SAF.

Completely delusional.

Can only presume it's a persona he tries to cultivate to maybe get United staff members to talk to him.

Mitten is obviously a legend as a fan turned journalist (and more than just a United correspondent) as well as de-facto ambassador for the fanbase, but he does tend to be inordinately sympathetic towards managers (combination of being a fair 'nice' character, and understanding the cluster of issues developed under Glazer direction). You can take into account the difficulties any manager would face and still see a manager wildly underperforming in areas where they have autonomy and discretion to do things differently. It's a lesser version of the kind of fans on here who would forgive the team being smashed 5-0 every week into relegation because 'it's part of the process; the players aren't good enough by and large; fans support the manager who's doing his best ' etc, ignoring that there are numerous cases of lesser resourced clubs where simple change in coach has led to far more cohesive play and better results fairly quickly.

Bayern were also after ragnick, it's hardly something to shout about at the moment that ten hag is the back up option to ragnick..
Thing is, Mitten will have known a lot more up close about ten hags coaching pedigree. It's easy to watch the games alone and say "yah he's shite because of this season, and Il ignore every other year he's managed suggesting otherwise".

This quote from glasner basically buries ETH...

"It was the fourth game in a row where the other team didn't have 10 shots. This is what we want to do to control the game with a compact defensive shape," he told BBC Sport.

Backup option to Nagelsmann, Rangnick, De Zerbi, Lopetegui, Alonso

He was actually quite against Ten Hag in his podcasts until he sat down with him a couple times and got closer to what's happening being the scenes.

Calling Mitten delusional is unequivocally the worst take I’ve read this morning…

Why

I am genuinely impressed by the stupidity of people already turning on INEOS like actual babies. And I didn't even want them here!
Agreed, I'm fairly stupid myself and even I think they're braindead, some surprisingly decent posters as well but I do kind of understand the head loss this season has caused. There's no point getting wound up about it, there's absolutely no way on this earth he's going to be allowed to continue next season so I've just made my peace that I'll have to endure a few more games with him at the helm.

Yeah too busy lining up the football structure at the club. Damn you INEOS.
 You can't just point at stuff and call it "footballing structure". Taking away perks from lower paid staff isn't going to make Dan Ashworth join any quicker.

I guess we're still in the "jumping in front of bullets to protect the massive corporation" stage for now.

Last nites result probably the straw that breaks the camels back. Problem is who out there is good enough to replace ETH ? I don’t really see anyone on paper.

I think we should give it to Tuchel for couple of seasons to get us back in Champions League. We should then go and get Alonso/Nagelsmann/Amorim/Flick if available

Looks like he will survive this week. No major news on his future and no leaks to the medias. Usually, the club will "leak" to the media when they are going to sack the manager. When LVG, Jose and Ole were sacked the medias were full of "leaks"

Let's see how he does against Arsenal.

No idea. His PL stats since the League cup win is depressing. We've endured 15 odd months of this shite.

24 wins, 8 draws and 17 losses with 69 goals scored and 70 conceded. 49 PL games!
