He knows he's gone. Won't be surprised if he resigns tomorrow. We've done a lot of stupid things over the years so let's just get Keane in as interim to see what happens.
There is absolutely no fecking way a man who is hours away from a multimillion golden handshake walks away with nothing because he 'feels bad'

.....

You think parking the bus and a narrow result either way would get him sacked, rather than setting up the team in a brainless suicidal way and getting smashed 4-0??

Does just seem like you dont understand football at all when you come out with things like this.

I'm not progressing my view at all. I knew Ten Hag was finished after Bournemouth humiliated us, my opinion on his failings as a manager haven't changed one iota since then.
Well I think we still very likely would lose parking the bus (but I accept this is purely my speculation). So I think telling his players we can only sit back and counter against Palace would do quite a bit more damage in terms of messaging longer term than trying to be a bit more progressive and still losing.

It’s hard to explain when I’m on mobile and a bit tired to be honest so I’ll try and do a better job tomorrow because I think you’re actually being really reasonable with me tonight and I’m aware this response isn’t good enough.

I think tonight was a shocking performance, but it was understandable given the personnel available.

The leagues been over for ages and watching us tonight was out of pure curiosity to see if we're continuing to be awful.

The positives for me are that we have a one off game to win a cup against our rivals and that ETH is gone regardless of what happens in that game.

So he's overachieving?

Lovely

It’s all part of a long term masterplan. He needs his contract renewing!

Where have all his cultists and excuse makers gone? Is there no one going to put it down to luck and injuries like in October when it was clear he should be sacked, or did we really need to keep him another 7 months to sort of septuple down on what everyone already knew?

I’m hoping him and the coaching staff storming down the tunnel is him knowing he’s gone tomorrow morning or something. JC Blanc was in attendance for this match too and as the new acting CEO, he holds that power…

Nothing surprises me with ETH, I called him the worst manager at United. Casemiro doesn't have the discipline to play CB. He is always diving into tacke as a DM and there has been some badly timed one, he doesn't have the pace to keep up with attacker. Despite knowing that he can be expose, Erik decided that Casemiro should deputise as CB so we have central defence with a combine age of 70? This fraud should be sack 4 months ago, we would still be in position to finish 4 or 5 in the league. This is another mismanagement again from United with Ineos coming in! Why would anyone in the right frame of mind keeps Erik?! I think we are too cheap to pay him off, that's the main reason. We will likely finish behind Newcastle and Chelsea, those 2 are putting run to catch Spurs while our worst manager decide to self-destruct.

Has to be the end for him. Just please get someone else in before the final. Anything other than this chaotic clown show setup. Guy is a total fraud and should have been sacked in October.

What are the benifits in waiting until the end of the season to sack him?

I think we're 3 goals away from the most goals we've ever conceded in a PL season.

Arsenal Newcastle and Brighton left, we are definitely conceding more than 3 goals.

But what if he manages his finances the same way he manages the team?

Nah, tbf, his family is loaded and money was never an objective for him reportedly, else he would have gone into the family business.

Although I agree with the point, there's a chance and him resigning might allow him to get a cushy job at Bayern (he reportedly speaks German and was previously the Bayern B team coach).

He has to go. He knows he is gone before next season anyway so not like he will be committed to making us even remotely competitive in the final anyway.

Sack him and get Ole to manage the last 2 games  maybe he gets the Ole bounce and at least we get to sing the bus song again

We're at a point where it doesn't matter whether injuries caused this or not. I think psychologically we need a fresh start with another manager. He might go and find success with another club, but he won't find it here.

Yeah they have been mate. 18 players left since he arrived? £450m+ spent on players.

How much of an overhaul do you want?
The thing is, the overhaul needs overhauling. We have bought very unwisely. Much of that appears to be down to the manager, whose stubborn and often disastrous decisions should be the first thing we overhaul.

It’s not an either/ or situation, however. We need a real clear out of manager and players.

He has proven given the structure and players he can produce good football. He has a record of developing youth players. There is two for you, what would Southgate or Potter do better?
He’s proven he can do well in Holland with a massively better team than everyone else. He’s proven he can’t get this team that cost a lot of money to play well.

I agree that some of these players aren't good enough and some are on massive contracts they don't deserve considering they'll never win a major trophy but whether we like it or not, if we sell Bruno and Rashford we're going to spend a load of money just to bring in players who aren't as good as Bruno and Rashford in the hopes they'll be as good as bail us out as often as Bruno and Rashford have. Look at Garnacho and Mainoo, great players but they haven't done more than Bruno or Rashford and might never, we don't know. So we need to clear out players like Eriksen who are old and clearly done at this level and bring in young players who we can at least invest in while keeping players like Rashford and manage him to maximise his consistency.

I would keep Bruno for another season but Rashford can feck right off unless he gets his attitude sorted. He's absolutely useless if he's here next season playing with the same lack of enthusiasm.

Out of that team that started tonight, I would have 5, or max 6, here next season. And out of those, maybe 3 would be starters. The squad is a shambles. It's a mismatch of players bought by different managers, who are mostly nowhere near good enough. There's a reason why there's leaks about the majority of the squad being available for sale this summer.

The problems at the club go much much deeper than ten Hag, but if he's still in place for the Cup Final we have absolutely no chance.

I don't understand what difference in terms of money what difference it makes to sack him now or wait though? Both will be "mutual consent" so all that's stopping INEOS is presumably just sitting him down and getting it done.

Maybe with Blanc in now they will do it.
Mutual consent just means he took the offer of gardening leave with pay if he resigns. A sacking means he gets a payout for the remainder of his contract or the agreed fee.

The reason they've waited is because they don't want to rock the boat at the end of the season but Ten Hag himself has done that because he wants to know if he's going to be here past the summer.

I think we're 3 goals away from the most goals we've ever conceded in a PL season.

Arsenal Newcastle and Brighton left, we are definitely conceding more than 3 goals.

The team in 14th just spanked 4 past us and should have been more so yeah, i estimate another 10 if Arsenal and Newcastle are remotely on form

Surely that last sentence is a contradiction? Genuine question, but can you explain why they've not been able to change manager? I'm sure SJR, Blanc, Ashworth, Wilcox are conversing daily. Probably multiple times a day. So why aren't they able to agree to it or put something in place long before now?
They are not the CEO, they are not the DoF, yet. They can converse about what they want to do and I am sure they have made plans, but it is a matter of area of competency and chain of command. They are not actually Ten Hag's bosses yet, are they? They could lobby whoever lame duck Glazer CEO is there now to sack Ten Hag, but that is not a good way to go about it when you are not actually in the job, in the office, in the building, to deal with the situation. However I think a perfomance like tonight might trigger a preponed (is that a word?) announcement..

 This one was genuinely funny.

But I promise you I’m not a sycophant. It would be weird to think I even could be given this is an internet forum.

I feel like you’re making progress to be fair. You’re at least acknowledging that we need to accept the position this team is actually in. We’re really not in a great shape and so sometimes I agree it would make sense to take your medicine so to speak.

We were never playing Evans and Casemiro at the back with AWB at LB and not having a defensive error leading to a goal. So I agree we should have tonight perked the bus and just been shit to play against.

But that would get Ten Hag sacked. I’m not sure that this result does.

I am not trying to be an arsehole here so please don’t now all pile on with tags calling me a WUM or whatever other mean names. I just don’t think INEOS will look at that performance from Casemiro in defence and blame Ten Hag to the point of sacking him given what they have already seen.

I’m tired of losing, tired of poor results and players playing badly or out of position due to injury. But have you ever seen me go out of my way to be rude or disrespectful to other posters?

If people can’t keep their emotions in check maybe they need to have a little calm down before they decide they want to tag someone they don’t know on an internet forum with an insult.

If it’s not worth the debate why are any of you posting in here? Your views are clearly understood you think Ten Hag should be sacked and don’t want to listen anymore to the reasons why this season may not be entirely his fault.

That’s a completely reasonable position to have reached.

See now this is also not very constructive because despite me getting pelters in here I’m still trying to argue in good faith with people.

Im really not sure what you are hoping to achieve here? Do you believe I am inside his rectum? Why do you believe this and how is this topic relevant to this thread?

Because it's nice after suffering through 90 minutes of ineptitude to vent somewhere, and this is the United forum. Not sure why that's so baffling to you, not everything needs to be a long winded "debate" and it sure as feck doesn't need to be after watching us get thrashed by a midtable club yet again.

It's quite simple really. If you're unable to prevent reoccurring humiliations (often by lesser teams), you're not the right man for the job.

His position is simply untenable at this point

Ineos must show ambition and show him the door (and a fair few of his signings)

He cannot hide behind the injuries because I wouldn't be shocked if some are down to his mismanagement/rushing players back

I think tonight was a shocking performance, but it was understandable given the personnel available.

You really think the personel and ETH are separate issues? He's hammered them all season in training trying to get them playing a system that is just insane.

It’s not an either/ or situation, however. We need a real clear out of manager and players.

So another overhaul? 2nd in 2 years.

I'm going to say, hand on heart, I think a good number of these players can play better than they are. Not necessarily tonight, but even I think tonight could be handled better. But we do without a doubt need certain players and positions upgrading. I don't think we'll win titles with all of these players, but I think we could play football that has us all feeling optimistic.
