You see Arteta over at Arsenal tweaking his system to make an underperforming player like Havertz useful and you just despair at our manager's lack of flexibility and man management. Proven ballers like Bruno and Rashford have regressed and just look clueless now.

He has a point about there being a power vacuum. While clearly being interested in certain persons, INEOS so far failed to get deals done with immediate effect. Berrada, Ashworth, Wilcox all are supposed to be the future deciders of the club, but are not in office yet. Who makes the calls at the club? Who is there to plan the transfer strategy for the summer?

So far it seems to be nobody which is worrying. It also means that there likely is nobody who actually really can make the necessary call to sack EtH now.

As of now I expect a wasted summer (and therefore another wasted season) because INEOS focus on getting certain people instead of people who can start doing the necessary job right now, and this wasted summer might even lead to EtH getting next season as well - at least the start of it.
I'd start worrying if this were still the case come July. This just reads like ETH isn't part of their future. I'm sure they are constantly holding meetings right now even without everything in place, but our manager obviously aren't part of those zoom calls.

You think INEOS can just snap their fingers and these people will be in the roles, just like that?!
Obviously that's not the case. My point is I doubt it's a good choice to wait so long for people to fill these positions. I get that they seem to be the "1A" choices, but I believe it would make more sense to go for immediately available "1B" options instead of wasting time.

Hopefully you are right.

The premise is ridiculous, so no.
It makes sense short term pain for long term gain.
We beat them in the cup that means more than the league in this position.

We ain’t stopping their title charge I’ll be flabbergasted if we do but we knocked them out the cup which is pretty sweet.

We need a new manager so could be a lose win situation.

If the wish is for Ten Hag to be sacked, I would rather win tomorrow and lose all of the last 7 league games.

No right thinking United supporter could possibly wish that Liverpool defeat us, regardless of the supposed greater good that would come from the defeat.

Then surely he should be telling journos that he's got Brailsford's steadfast support, instead of an article where the sub heading is that he isnt getting support from above.

If he really thinks he deserves to be at this club he should be banging down Ineos' door to get public support and a contract extension, because the players dont live in a vacuum and they'll be thinking he's a dead man walking too.
He literally said in his press conference he has no doubts about his future. What more do you want.

I don’t know if ETH will be our manager next season or not, but I have to give him credit for his trust in the youth. I genuinely don’t think there any many managers out there who would have trusted Garnacho last season and Mainoo this season as much as Ten Hag has done.

I think if he is here next season then Amass will be a first team regular too and we might even see another debutant.

I hope whoever our next manager is, they have the same bravery.

I will watch the game tomorrow and hope we do well, even though it’s rare we play well this season. I have had high tolerance level which is extremely high now.

You're just not truly connected in the proper way to the club if you'd hope for us to get battered by Liverpool in any game.

Yeah much as I have been on that Erik out train since Anfield last March, still wouldn't be wishing for us to lose today just so he is sacked

On the other hand eeking a win against liverpool will only bring forth false hope and dawn. Im not advocating a trashing against liverpool but on the flipside if we win then good we win, if we lose then its also good cause its gonna expedite his firing process. I am so apathetic at this stage god help me.

Yeah have a horrible feeling these appointments are gonna drag out a bit, therefore Erik will probably end up still being here at the start of next season

The run-in is supposed to be the most exciting, feverent time of the entire season. Ours feels like a death march. I'm watching the euphoria other teams and fans are going through and comparing and contrasting to the constant misery here and any other United congregation and it's surreal.

We go into what used to be the most anticipated game of the season hoping to keep the score down and leave with our dignity intact; notions of winning are fanciful despite our last result against them.

We cannot have another season like this or being this far behind everyone else.

Even if we win , we not getting top 4
So he is gone

I think regardless of Villa there is a point there. He has definitely been unlucky with injuries this season but for most match days he has had better squads available than a lot of sides who manage to look like far more functional football teams that are not utterly exposed constantly. He could and should have gotten a lot more out of what he has had available to him even if it isn't his ideal squad.

Fair enough.

Would love for this to be true but honestly I dont really know anymore. He might be here come next season even though we miss CL. Hopefully INEOS wisen up quickly enough to see through all his bullshit big talk. The fact he stated we "dominated" Chelsea last match made me lost all ounce of respect to him

There is no long term gain. It's just pathetic to wish for Liverpool win vs us, even worse to wish 5-0.

Liverpool winning 5-0 will change nothing, just more misery to the fans, more momentum for Liverpool to win the league.

Firmly believe a decision was made on ETH a while ago. They will have utilised the data available and have seen internally how things are, a gift we obviously don’t have, so the outcome could be either way. They’ll have concluded he’s the right man if afforded the correct foundation and further changes in the squad, or that he’ll never be good enough.

I don’t know which way the pendulum will swing to be honest, but Brailsford and Ratcliffe won’t be waiting to see how ETH does for the remainder of the season before deciding, they don’t work that way. Ask Chris Froome.

Previous reputation counts for nothing if they feel you are not the man to take them forward. And to be fair it will be based on objective reasoning with sound intelligence in order to build a winning team. I’ll trust their judgement.

There is no true United supporter hoping United get beat today. Same with the players everyone at the club is truly under the microscope like never before. No owners and leadership team looking at how everyone conducts themselves. Today a massive opportunity let’s see who takes it. im firmly in the ETH out camp for avoidance of doubt doesn’t stop me praying for us to win today .

Exactly. Anyone wanting us to lose to Liverpool is not a real fan. I just hope our mentally weak players show some cahones and step it up for this one game.

Beating Liverpool will absolutely not bring any false hope. Our league position won't even change and momentum is not something this United side has ever created this season. It will be a fun moment, getting to mess with Liverpools title chances but nothing more.

Nope but beating Liverpool always good and killing their title chances always great. My 5 daily posts nearly up so post game I’ll be missing the fun on here either way. But a win and my beer will taste better. Edit massive win for Amorim last night in a crunch crunch game.

I don't disagree, but there are some things to consider. Such as a what a "better option" could be. In one sense, they could say that they sympathize with EtH (mitigating circumstances such as the injuries) and that they agree on the way forward. They can agree with EtH on the way forward and set goals. If the goals are not achieved then his contract will be closer to its end, and they will have had more time finding a suitable replacement.
Not sure what the fans would deem as the biggest failure (of INEOS).
- Allowing EtH to continue and possibly have a bad start to the season with a fit/renewed squad.
- Replacing EtH and possibly have a bad season - reducing the momentum they got since their takeover. (Immediate success in the PL is not easy).

Again, who knows.

ETH is failing so they are going to be criticised for getting rid of him, if they allow him to continue this into next season then any momentum and their reputation with fans will disintegrate. The riskiest thing they could do is stick with him, and at the moment he is doing such a poor job that there will be a lot of managers that look like better options.

Remembering hearing all this crap just before lots of people wanted all the other post Fergie managers sacked aswell, that ended well didn't it?

You're right, but none of that affects Ten Hag, especially in the short term. He's signed loads of players as it is, what is he hoping, we'll be able to sign even more?
It helps by being able to sign more players for less money.
We’ve seen that we play better when we have the core players back from injury, especially in defence.
I agree he’s signed a few players, quite a lot on loan due to lack of funds. He’s signed 8 in total and had to remove a lot of players from the team who didn’t fit or deserve to stay.

This summer we could see a few of his signings leaving in Varane and Casemiro so we will need to replace them. Martial, Sancho, Greenwood also leaving in the summer. Amrabat leaving after his loan, Jonny Evan’s potentially leaving, although I’d give him another year as he’s been steady and reliable when called on.

His signings haven’t been terrible either, Hojlund, Martinez, Onana and Mount (give him time). Onana has been excellent since January after one of the most horrific starts in a new team.

Better data analysis affecting each game, better medical department, football people in a proper hierarchy, means less time waiting for the Glazers to make decisions on transfers, we can react instantly which will also help.

We have to get 9 more points to avoid having our worse season post fergie and looking at the fixtures it isn't going to be easy, I think that is pretty damning that we will roughly finish close to the same points finish we had in the season ole got sacked and ragnick took over, that is how bad ten hag has made us and yet people say give him another season

Typical Cafe for there to be 2 different debates happening in the same page that contradict each other. Complaining that there is no one in place to make decisions at board level, suggesting to get a lower level of decision makers on board and for there to also be a discussion of wanting to lose to Liverpool to force EtH out of the club sooner suggesting short term pain for long term gain.

I would like nothing more than a club that I have supported all my life to be run immaculately well on a sporting basis and I am willing to wait for this to develop. But I’d never wish for the team that I support to lose against any team, let alone Liverpool.

Watching his interview on Sky Sports, I wish I could see the style of play he says is so obvious to see, the patterns of play we have to create chances against all opposition. It just sounds so hollow and desperate.

Agree, a win today will be massive. People don't realise football is all about winning match after match, even if we finish 6 this season but win most of the remaining matches that would be ok for the fans. So what if we played Europa next season. This season we wish that we could've been able to play the Europa aint we. It is not all about CL, as long as we play good matches from now on fans will be happy.

As for ETH, I think he needs to be more flexible with tactics in each of the match, giving the number injuries, he should not play every match exactly the same way by pushing the forward lines too high and leaving holes. Great managers in the past have variety of tactics, like SAF, sometime he let the stronger team having more possession, play slow game and still get results.

De Zebri is getting called out right now for losing against league leaders with Brighton.

They guy will be massacred 3 months in the job on redcafe!
Nope. The moment he would become our
manager, he starts getting worshipped in Caf, and that won’t stop until he completely sucks. Even then, half of the forum and most of Old Trafford would continue worshipping him.

Ill see you all in here post game either absolutely delirious that we have won or embracing that the last clingers will have turned with any luck.

If we win ill be over the moon and going mental that weve done it as it probably sets them way back for the title. But out of the three id like Arsenal to win it then pool then City, as much as i hate pool i have more respect for the club itself (not the fans, players or manager) than city of which i have absolutely no respect for.

But our club specifically is a broken mess when it comes to these things, manager has to be binned asap and if it takes a loss for it to happen or even be secured for the summer than so be it.
