You didn't ask me but yes I will. My opinion is based on facts available to me, if he improves and makes things work than logically I will change my current view to an up-to-date one.
Now now, I always want your opinion :D

If we keep him it will be due to INEOS taking a pragmatic view that even if we were to employ a new coach none of the changes made elsewhere would really bare fruit until 25/26 season. So I guess you could keep ETH with zero intention of keeping him to make sure all issues have been sorted before bringing a new head coach in.

I don’t like EtH at all and will want him gone today if it was up to me but I’m not mad at this approach. It will also save us a lot of money not having to pay out his salary

if all our new appointments are on gardening leave we’ll into the summer, what change can they really affect to start next season. I’m sure the long term plan is to get rid of ETH and most of the playing squad.
So we throw a year just because other positions have not been filled - that is not how it should work.

We sack him and get a manager who can make some progress and something to build upon.

EtH has been here 2 years and there is not one area of the pitch you can look at and say that it lays a good foundation future. What’s the point of continuing with him if there is a potential creating something new from what we have.

No, the point I am making is there are other 'nobodies' in the management field who can become very good to WC. Look how many duds Liverpool had before they got Klopp, yet all were operating under the same structure.
We have an opportunity to find our elite manager as we are now starting to operate under a different structure from the bankers the parasites forced on the club.
Emery is a decent manager, but not elite. McKenna could be an elite manager in the future, but could also step up and fail. Its trial and error unfortunately.

They were not it changed during Rodgers tenure and the strategy also changed after 18 months of Klopp

So the new trending word for the ETH cult is “structure”.

The magical elixir that will miraculously turn Eric (already the greatest living manager in their eyes) into the best manager ever. From Frank De Boer he will turn into Johan Cruyff.

Why do you have to be like this?
It's not black and white.

You can believe ETH is good manager, without believing he is the greatest ever.
You can admit he is not doing a good job this season, and also know that he did good job last season.

You can also admit that our downfall is because of variety of reasons, and not entirely ETH fault!

You can believe he is not good enough, without claiming he is the worst manager in the world.
You can believe he is good enough, without claiming he is the best.

Why so many extremes, why can't people at least try to be rational?

It seems to be a word that is annoying alot of the people who just want any old manager to replace Ten Hag, that's for sure.

Hopefully we get squashed 5/6-0 tomorrow to put final nail in the coffin to him.

Not nice but a bitter medicine to swallow in order to remove the last dregs of the illness that is ETH football.

I want us to play relatively well enough so that the players aren’t blamed for being “lazy” or having “bad attitudes” and for it to be blindingly obvious it’s the managers set up that’s meant we’ve lost.

Of course the church of Ten Hag have a ready meal version of an excuse ready in “the injuries”. But even an injury stricken team can park the bus and limit it to 2 or 3. So let’s get a humiliation and see this guy off once and for all.

not nice you say :wenger:

I agree with you but just opening myself to a different point of view. I think Ten Hag is dreadful but being fair to him a large group of the players are just as bad.

The one thing I absolutely don’t want is the same players who have continuously let us down getting a chance under a new manager.

It would not surprise me if Erik is the manager next season.
In the media, Ratcliffe has been asking for time and patience from the fans.
This is, naturally, because they have long-term plans for the club, such as
Much has been set in motion already, but there are still many pieces left to move.
Something tells me that Ratcliffe and INEOS wants most of the hierarchy in place before they plan their next long-term manager, as they would wants the decision to be one made with the support of the whole group.

So I think that something new would have to develop (such as their favourite Zidane becoming interested) for them to change the manager before next season.

Then again, stranger things have happened.

We could lose all our games by the end of season by 3+ goals and he will still be there in August. He’s as safe as it gets. Hoping we lose so he gets fired is both pointless (because he will not get fired due to results anytime soon) and not right (especially against Liverpool in the middle of a title race).

that's what interims do, they see out the rest of the season until the real decision in the summer.

I fear he still won't go anywhere until he loses the dressing room

Not just 5/6-0 but an embarrassing performance tactically.

If we win I’ll go completely giddy and be so happy from a football perspective but for the love of the club in the long term the embarrassing loss is something I’d endure.

If this is the case then I'd rather they just bring Ole back as interim until they're ready to bring in a proper coach.

We’ve started to heard the dreaded “some players aren’t convinced of his methods” line from papers.

I'm not sure how INEOS who are obsessed with marginal gains and performance would look at the stats and records and think “this is the guy”.

Berrada could send a cheeky message to Brailsford and say “are we planning to look at other options on the manager” and the message will be clear.

They’ve been happy to sack managers at Nice and I really don’t think they will be willing to write off a year by essentially not making a decision. If they think ETH is best man for the job they’ll keep him, if they have a better option they’ll take it.

It’s also very difficult to sell the idea of a new culture and ambition and have ETH performing and talking like he is. They really need a manager with a fresh start who will be afforded some time rather than a guy on the verge of the sack who will be under enormous pressure if he lost opening game of next season.

What a disaster of a post. So you want us to lose so that you can have the manager sacked but you don't want players to face the wrath .

As has been widely reported Ineos/Ratcliffe/Brailisford want to put competent people in position to run the football side of the club. Once they are in place it will be their decision whether or not to sack Ten Hag, once they are in place I don't see how they look at how this season has played out and come to the conclusion that Ten Hag is the man to take this club forward.

And they sure as shit won't be basing thier decision on whether or not they can save a few million by not sacking him.

Totally agree with this. It's exhausting trying to live somewhere in the middle when constantly you're being dragged or pushed one way or another.

I don't disagree, but there are some things to consider. Such as a what a "better option" could be. In one sense, they could say that they sympathize with EtH (mitigating circumstances such as the injuries) and that they agree on the way forward. They can agree with EtH on the way forward and set goals. If the goals are not achieved then his contract will be closer to its end, and they will have had more time finding a suitable replacement.
Not sure what the fans would deem as the biggest failure (of INEOS).
- Allowing EtH to continue and possibly have a bad start to the season with a fit/renewed squad.
- Replacing EtH and possibly have a bad season - reducing the momentum they got since their takeover. (Immediate success in the PL is not easy).

Again, who knows.

Wanted us to get smashed by the scousers for fecks sake. You've lost your mind.

"The vacuum means Ten Hag has been unable to outline his plans for the future"

Sounds like Ineos aren't interested in more eredivisie signings

He has a point about there being a power vacuum. While clearly being interested in certain persons, INEOS so far failed to get deals done with immediate effect. Berrada, Ashworth, Wilcox all are supposed to be the future deciders of the club, but are not in office yet. Who makes the calls at the club? Who is there to plan the transfer strategy for the summer?

So far it seems to be nobody which is worrying. It also means that there likely is nobody who actually really can make the necessary call to sack EtH now.

As of now I expect a wasted summer (and therefore another wasted season) because INEOS focus on getting certain people instead of people who can start doing the necessary job right now, and this wasted summer might even lead to EtH getting next season as well - at least the start of it.

Everyone can see the spirit from last year is gone. Players doing a high five for defending a corner or block or tackle. Maybe it is because how ETH decision to ship out players has an impact of the overall team dynamics. Players are thinking about the future away from Old Trafford. Who cares about the result if their future lies somewhere else. Anyway, he deserves to be sack. What a screw up job that he did in year 2. Will he learn? I doubt it.

Interesting quotes

That article is all over the place.

Ten Hag is angry that he isn't getting any support from above.

He's sure in his methods and wont change. But the players aren't.

But he also thinks he's safe in his position and will be given time.. because the owners are busy sorting out other things and not looking at how shit we are on the pitch....?

Like I know tabloid sports journos are thick but at least sort out some kind of narrative before writing it.

Kind of consistent with the Athletic from Whitwell, just reading your summary. The Athletic adding Ten Hag and Brailsford had talks and are in sync with the plan.

Theres probably some truth in it, it's a complicated situation.

No one can do the job now because United are a shit show that are 10 years behind the big clubs in Europe in terms of running a football club and structure. They have no direction and plan whatsoever. Haven’t for years. Pep wouldn’t win feck all with this team. Or Klopp or any other manager. It’s so badly run with a shitty culture from top to bottom.

Then surely he should be telling journos that he's got Brailsford's steadfast support, instead of an article where the sub heading is that he isnt getting support from above.

If he really thinks he deserves to be at this club he should be banging down Ineos' door to get public support and a contract extension, because the players dont live in a vacuum and they'll be thinking he's a dead man walking too.

You think INEOS can just snap their fingers and these people will be in the roles, just like that?!
