And that's carried on into this season, which means we've had more bad form than good under Ten Hag. And been pretty bad for the best part of 12 months now.
Ten Hag this season has been dealt terrible injuries which makes it difficult to judge, that's my school of thought.

I always get killed for this but I genuinely think we were unlucky with a few of the goals in that 7-0. Especially two of the Salah goals. Clearances somehow just ending up at Salahs feet. That OT game they battered us and cut through us.
At OT they were at their apex best. We weren't. I kinda can love with that. What confounded at Anfield was they were poor. Yet our collective abdication of duty and loss of heads gifted them 6 in second half.

How many times have we put in what would be viewed as a good performance this season? I reckon I can count the number of decent league performances this season on one hand. Our points tally make the situation look even better than it is. ETH has simply benefited from the protracted takeover otherwise I think he would have been sacked already.

Everton away, West Ham and Villa at home.

If I could get just one honest answer out of him, I'd ask him, is this how he really wants to play? No control, no possession, no proper centre midfield?

You probably wont like the answer. Just like how he told reporters that we were good in Jan/Feb because we had most of our starters available. When in reality we were just as shite.

Yes. 3 managers running. We all know how bad Rashford's bottom level is and that he isn't that effective at cf. We all know he tends to score in big games. We all know Mctominay will never help you in the build up of attacks in midfield. We all know Lindeloff is too slow to keep up with anyone with pace. We all know this squad can only beat City on the counter or with smash and grab.

So the biggest question is why people feel entitled to it being vastly different under ETH with the same players?
Half the team is his players, so how can you say it's the same squad that Ole had?

Fair enough I can understand that line of thought. But surely you don't think the awful football, complete lack of of any sort of defensive structure where we concede 20 odd shots every game and our limp attacking play is all down to injuries?

And even in those we were outplayed for large periods of the game. There really hasn't been a good 90 minute performance this season.

No probably not. Today was also only the third time we've won a game by more than a single goal margin.

6-1 at OT against fecking Spurs under Ole was pretty hideous.

In fairness we did play most of that game with 10 men and it was what our 3rd game of the season after we had a pre-season that was 1 week long with 1 friendly match played. There was context behind it.

You know we're in a good place when we're comparing performances with the previous managers worst defeats

We are literally talking about todays match and today's performance in which someone asked if we could have expected a different performance from that squad of players today.

Outside Onana, Mainoo, Casemiro, Garnacho. Who on that pitch put in a performance we have NEVER seen them put in for United with other managers? Honestly?

Even if you stretched it to all season. Who?

I'm just counting down the games and hoping next season we'll be better with a new manager, any expectation out of this season dwindled long time ago. ETH's terrible football is just the icing no one asked for!

I think it's a combination of injures, ill suited personnel even with a fit XI but also some managerial errors.

I think the heaviest weighting is injury though, and sadly the squad players are reverse profiles of the ones they are meant to replace. E.g Lindelof for Licha for example who aren't remotely alike.

However I disagree about defensive structure (if you mean cohesion and organisation). No chance we allow so many shots and still win quite a few games if we weren't defensively resolute. Pointing to isolated numbers generally is no good, I prefer to understand the quality of a lot of chances.

We are defending deeper out of obligation which makes us tricky to unpick but does allow for more pot shots as teams try different ways to score.

He has a feck ton of injuries and is still broadly churning out results in the new year.

When you have this many injuries I honestly can't give a feck how we play as long as we defend well, create enough and show effort and commitment. We are doing all of these things, and I'm fine with that given the circumstances.
You sound like we are Luton or Burnley. It’s always an excuses….

People can fool themselves thinking we would be different if not for injuries or whatever but it’s clear he’s not a good manager. Nothing suggests he’s capable of making us a competent top level team. His tactics his set up his style of football his transfers everything is just below par.

Our not having a consistent good 90 minutes performance more than a handul of time has predated this manager. Frankly it's been around since Mourinho.
That is not an excuse for ETH, that makes him look WORSE. He failed to raise standards and actually lowered them to the point you are making posts like this to absolve him.

The football is shit, really shit, though unfortunately I do think it's going to be a struggle for any manager to get us playing a decent brand of football with this lot. It's a group of players made for counter attacking.

Your squad assemblage is worse than theirs combined. Y'all look at the names and plain imagine they translate to on pitch reality. Both Burnley and Luton have players with similar profiles and styles to their starters as back up. United in comparison leap from Casemiro Mainno to Erisksen Mctominay to Anrabat Mount. Competitive squads are not built by resembling the diversity of the U.N in terms of player profiles.

He did say we want to be the best transition team...this is by design!

No. I'm clealrly making posts like these to disbuse the likes of from this delusion that ETH is "producing surprises"in the performances levels of players with largely the same group of players 3 managers running. Such post are about the likes of you. Not Ten Hag.

I still expect us to go in and win games against most the teams, but OK sure.

Didn't know I had to make any excuse for a manager winning 2-0 today, but that's the state of some fans.

Bullshit. It's your badly assembled squad of players who haven't been good enough for close to a decade. But like the Bourbons you learn nothing!

Not good enough to win the league? Absolutely. But these badly assembled squads have managed to be in the top 4 several times and won a few cups along the way.

Yet you are claiming, with a straight face, that our assembled squads are worse than Luton and Burnley.

What I find quite funny is how a number of our fans constantly pretend an ill suited squad to free flowing consistent 90 mintues football is a decade plus problem and not something ETG has suprised nor. afflicted us with during his tenure.

"Zombie passing" is one of the oldest cafe threads for example. Birthed in the layers years of SAF's reign decrying our passing. What do some y'all think we had with "McFred"? Thats just for starters. I find the need to attribute past problems to ETH quite strange.

Especially when he has those uniquely his:

Poor rotation practice when his best players are fit.

Poor in game use of substitutes when the tide is against his side. He rarely is proactive enough

Stubbornly sticking to "Plan A" for the season. Even if the wheels have fallen off and he is driving in the debris of the axels.

Changing a stable defensive shape to a high risk, transitional high pressing shape with a squad provably ill suited to it under the previous full time manager. Ultimately sacrificing pragmatic control for risk and utter chaos.

Until this season not respecting opponents enough away from OT, to not operate in a gungho fashion against them.

Above all. Not taking the neccesary steps to stem a habit of getting Hassenhutl style thrashings on off days for his team.

The ONLY reason I ever defend an ETH on here is from being accused of issues that have jacks hit to do with him. Plus his past reputation as a manager. Just because I'm no sitting on the same fence with you abusing and rubbishing him from head to toe doesn't make me his greatest fan......

Unlike a number of you am just not ready to throw away yet another baby with the bath water. Especially because I have actual evidence how this particular brand of manager can thrive at a proper structured club. Whilst United close to a decade now has been structureless and has claimed the reputations of a number of provably competent managers and players alike. End of story.

The manager doesn’t play the way *I* think he should so he has to go.
The team isn’t performing as good as my FM save, so he should lose his job.
This team that hasn’t performed for years should be playing much better football even though they’ve never really looked capable of it before.
I am not entertained by the way we play, even though we are winning. We should start again from scratch.
I want to appoint an unproven flavour of the month manager, because I don’t have the stomach or patience to develop the club and build back to where we were under Sir Alex. I’m hoping for a quick fix because I am in denial about the true state of the club.

The sooner you realise they don't the more seriously you will be taken.
Honestly, I really don’t need the people who still think Ten Hag is world class and we’re just waiting for a DOF to prove it to take me seriously, in the same way I don’t need the lunatics who smear their own shit on the walls to take me serious.

Who bought the players? The managers!
Who refused to replace players that were ill suited to repeated 360 degree footballing change of direction?

Why do you think a mere Burnley when they were certain to part with Dyche and head in the opposite footballing direction to him. Chose to commit fully and not renew a whole host of players and sold a number of others? Was it just for shits and giggles?

What could conceivably make ANY of you think Manchester United should be succesful repeatedly half commiting to differing footballing directions, in terms of player roster, with almost each change of manager in 8 years?

He isn’t good enough and there are thousands of minutes of proof. Way too open.

Just wanted to write that so when we rightfully complain after a loss, there are no accusations of knee-jerking.

He needs to go.
