People said the exact same thing about Ten Hag when he was at Ajax.

Yeah and it didn't work out, so do we stick with a bozo and make no changes because the previous attempt didn't work?

That football was put in place over several years by Potter, before De Zerbi got near it.

Ten Hag's CV is miles ahead of De Zerbi's, who's biggest achievement is "plays nice football", having been relegated from Serie A and fired from another Italian team after 2 months.

Even if DZ had done anything to reasonably suggest he was qualified for the job, Ten Hag is a better fit for our situation given that we're trying to build a progressive football team from scratch and were abject when he took over.

If you want him out, then fine, but that opinion means little if your suggested replacement is nothing more than a punt on the current in vogue hipster manager.

Now find me a post where I'm suggesting De Zerbi has his replacement.

Also, Ten Hag was hired as the in vogue hipster manager - and nothing about United with him is progressive.

The criticism of him is expected. Most of it sounds demented to me. The problem is we don’t like losing. Somebody must be held accountable. It has to be Erik.

But. He is not a poor coach. He has not made bad signings (even if they cost more money than they should). He is not a bad motivator- we ran our socks off today. There’s simply no need to pretend that he’s poor or out of his depth or whatever other shit you want to sling at him. The inescapable truth is there in black and white: the results. The results are not good enough.

What is the problem? What is the solution?

Erik is not the problem. But if there is no other solution then it is likely he will be sacked. Sadly the problem (whatever it is) will not be solved by sacking him.

It happens often in football that good managers find it hard to win. They usually get sacked, no matter who they are.
How is he not a problem. Then why all the players suddenly can't turn with the balland play anything but a backpass. You can see glimpses of great football these players can play when they want, but the bald guy just instruct them to shit their pants and keep the ball instead of playing any kind of football.

Easy to play dominant football in a nothing league like in Netherlands with a squad like Ajax. It's even more one sided then Bundesliga. This should be taken into account when hiring the next time. I hope we are ready to make changes before all players confidence is totally destroyed.

You mean every second post in here?

Club is just so toxic atm I honestly feel no one could succeed here
Which is the truth. Absolutely no one in the world can do it at the moment. A sea change is needed to get out of this mess. We're looking at years on years.

I mean I doubt the owners could even afford to fire him and hire someone new. We are too broke to even bring in players we need. The fact we still have maguire and Mctominay here shows how poorly we are run. The problems go deep for united

I'd put a stop to it right away with the next manager. There's no fecking money, you take the job knowing that you have to get the best out of these players and the scouting network will identify young upcoming players to supplement the first team with. Just do your job and worry about the results.
The scouting network??? Which scouting network are you talking about?? The reason why our managers have such a big say on transfers is because the recruitment/scouting team here are absolute crap.

We’ve just spent 18 months and 400m on becoming Ajax 2.0, there’s no way he’s getting the sack.

The players are weak and need cycling out. I’d rather give him a few more windows and see what he can do. Arteta eventually got a tune out of arsenal, I’m not having it that Ten Hag isn’t as good a coach as he is.

Exactly. It's clear the club's culture is rotten.

Further more, a combination of bad luck with injuries, off field distractions and new signings and the current group not kicking on performance wise is really putting alot of pressure on Ten Hag. The players need to unite and stand behind the coach in other to turn it around.

They couldn’t even afford 20 M for Amrabat so they had to get him on loan for a year.

Still don’t think he’s the problem, although the team selection is his choice, and it’s questionable. The lineup played as many of us expected it would. Lack of energy, and just totally unconvincing.

Interesting that these same players seem to play great for their national teams.
National football doesn't mean anything... No Icelandic player got a top club contract after great Euro 16 and winning England!! Even David Healy was great in national football.

By spending another 400 million to become Ajax 3.0?

Okay, so sack him and get someone else in. Why stick with something that isn’t working and won’t work?
Okay so hire the new vogue hipster manager, if he bombs then sack him hire the new new vogue hipster manager until one of them has a clue what they’re doing.

We could do that, it's basically what we've done post-Fergie so far, but we'll end up in this same spiral for years constantly changing our approach.

I'd much rather we broke that cycle of failure, and spent a bit of time getting some better foundations in place.

You watch Spurs and they might well lose but it’s clear they have a blueprint, a plan, a style of play

What’s our excuse?

You mean every second post in here?

No, as in me suggesting De Zerbi - because the poster I replied to quote me saying at the very least De Zerbi team plays decent football. That wasn't me saying I'm De Zerbi in.

Ole was doing okay up until they forced Ronaldo on him and he completely lost the dressing room.
Tbf it's also on him. He could have refused to play Ronaldo. I was a big fan but he doesn't have the balls required for this job. Not the tactical nous either.

If we sack ETH tbh I don't even know who I'd want next. We've tried literally all options possible and it seems nothing works.

Have we ever been further away from looking like challenging for even 2nd in the league?

We need new owner to really get out of this messy loop.
I just feel no manager can do this job on his own in the way how the club is operated. LVG, Jose, Ole, and now ETH. It’s pointless to sack managers because it won’t make real difference.

I also don't buy into "club so toxic, no one would succeed" rhetoric.

After £400 spent, surely that can't be the core bullet point in favour of the manager

Yeah and it didn't work out, so do we stick with a bozo and make no changes because the previous attempt didn't work?

Previous attempt? You mean every attempt since SAF called it a day. As I keep saying until the ownership changes this cycle will keep repeating itself. We’ll sack Ten Hag bring in De Zerbi or whoever it doesn’t matter, starts off well players respond to his ways and everything looks rosy, we secure top 4 and it looks like we’re back on track then instead of kicking on again things go pear shaped and any progress that was made quickly unravels. Then we find ourselves in this exact same position again making the exact same posts. De Zerbi has to go, no identity, the results are terrible, we need to hire *insert new flavour of the month manager* at least he plays decent football. Rinse and repeat.

And fired them when they found out they were shit instead of giving them £400m to spend.
What's that got to do with anything? You used Real Madrid's interest in de Zerbi as a counter to the idea that he's a flavour-of-the-month manager, as if they're always right about such things. I mentioned two recent examples of them getting it dead wrong.

what was the plan for the last game? let the players to do whatever they want? we had rashford who kept trying to dribble past 3-4 players at once while ignoring his teammates, we've finally bought expensive striker yet we didnt even play to his strength at all, we subbed maguire on when we' re chasing goals, JUST WHY?! if we sack him who is going to replace him? carrick? the truth is we are kinda stuck with him atleast for the moment although if im being honest i have no idea why'd we looked like bunch of strangers being put together just 30 mins before kick off every single game! that said i want him stay, nobody said the job is going to be easy.

80M Antony, 70M Hojlund, 60M Mount, 70M Casemeiro, 60M Onana what's our DOF doing? Murtough need to go before we sack the manager again. Need a DOF with proper track record to revamp the football structure.
Right in because Murtough will simply wet the bed on the next manager too. Can't believe we spent circa £260m on Antony, Hoijlund, Mount and Onana when we didn't need to and they didnt even move a needle. We are fecked, he is done but Murtough and Arnold should precede him out of the door.
