Memories flood back of that Herschelle Gibbs drop vs Australia in '99....

I think thats a fair/right call, but then what's the difference with that and dragging catches along the turf which everyone was moaning about being called unfairly?

Potential game losing moment. But the rules are also unclear. If instead of it getting thrown due to the hit on the thigh. If he just completes the complete swing motion of his hand and throws it away then it would be a clear out. ICC needs to come with clear objective rules in terms of x seconds the ball has to be in the hand without touching the ground for it to be a catch.

Only aussies were complaining, that was a drop and this was a drop both different levels of stupid but stupid drops none the less.

There isn't amoung any right minded observers. In neither case where the ball and body under control at the same time.

Australia are just an insanely lucky cricket team. That has probably never happened to stokes before
No real luck involved here dude. Very poor fielding, not to mention if Australia held on to their catches this game would already be Australia's

I thought he threw it away thinking it came off the pad and couldn't be out.

Oh come on. This is one of the best fielders ever who took a real good catch. It just is a freak incident

What I'm not sure about it why England don't think they should lose a review? The catch was given not out, we reviewed and it was not out?

He was in the process of throwing it back up in the air in celebration though was he not?

I think his arm was just swinging back down as it naturally would when you don't have your balance.

He actually would have been better of just not trying to land on his feet - thats where he messed up.

Looked to me like he was swinging his arm so he could throw the ball up in the air, the instant he landed.

I wonder if that needs to be coached out of cricket? Always seemed a bit mad to celebrate catches in a way that might end up with the catch ruled out. Even if the risk is tiny. Just get the fecking thing under control and count to five before you let go of it.

actually Stokes' arm was on the up, but it was a reaction to trying to get balance...maybe some premature celebration. So stupid.

It was a windmill
