English cricket thread

There’s a big Stokes sized hole in this attack, none of the other bowlers give you a feeling they can get you a wicket when you need one. If he can’t bowl and his batting is in a bad space, he’s basically Brearley in a bucket hat.

Crazy how certain athletes make it look like that. Looks so jittery yet in so much control

Amazing how well calibrated his head and hands are, he always makes you feel like you’ve got a chance with his body positions and then bam his bat comes in and you don’t.

Bazball, smazball, England’s fielding has been shocking throughout the series.

Well, here we go, we have test match back on again now.

Jimmy must be relieved as feck. Not sure why he’s in that position though. He doesn’t strike me as someone who is usually in closer positions to the bat.

You would think Smith and Khawaja would be the two players least likely for that to happen.

Ahh well, at least we have a nicely poised game now :D

The only match that I might be able to make it to would be the fifth test so I’m genuinely hoping that somehow the series comes down to that final match

He used to be a slip fielder right?

This is not fun test cricket either way. Bowling short for 20-30 overs in a row with 5 fielders back is difficult to watch

It’s weird right, do batsman struggle with short stuff more than I remember because they face less of it or is it a pitch thing? Bizarre to watch Australians not fancy short stuff.

Oh look the Aussies getting out to unnecessary hook shots also...

Dropping Head might hurt us. He will score quick.

He's an excellent close catcher. Usually.

I don’t remember seeing him close for quite a while. He’s usually mid off/on isn’t he?

Just an observation anyway. Drops happen regardless.

Pitches in England this summer have been pretty tumescent. We've had stupidly dry and hot weather.

This is pretty amusing and a slap to all the haters who were crying so much. Maybe it’s not as simple as just play defensive

Surely Australia are better off attacking here, they’re 280 runs ahead which is a bit different to England attacking 230 runs behind.

50-50 game now. England would fancy chasing anything below 350. above that , a different story.

Sky's commentary team oddly keen to discuss the potential 'intimidatory bowling' at Australia's middle order.
