English cricket thread

Someone has to stick in like Khawaja did for Aussies so others can play around him

Wasn't aware of the weather. That changes the outlook although I still feel generally speaking for the series as a whole that Australia are a different beast and some of the wickets England have lost were completely suicidal. Mainly to Lyon who somehow has five wickets for the match.

The stumpings are annoying. Just giving the wicket away.

England playing England's way have had them ahead on Winviz for most of the test.

Why are you coming in this thread just to have a moan at England? Are you bored or something?

In the last two pages I admired Stokes field placings for the Khawaja dismissal (he did the same v Pakistan), I've really liked his aggressive and creative captaincy on bowling, and commented on how great a batsman Brooks looks like.

Stokes and Bairstow need to put on a partnership here. I don’t really back the others to add many runs.

Just not good enough today.

Edit. What’s going on? My stream froze just as hawk eye was about to come on. Then when I went live again, it looked like the exact same ball but the umpire didn’t give it out

God what a reprieve. Really hope that’s a helpful warning and helps them focus. We’ve really struggled just before the breaks in this game.

Cracking test match yet again. Been pretty much 55/45 England's way since ball one. Great fun.

Everyone moaning about cheap dismissals and like have a valid point in some ways, but I'd take what's happening now over any England test team I've watched over the past 30 odd years I've been watching test cricket, in the words of Maximus Decimus Meridous "are you not entertained"

Second one looked closer than the first one that was given out
It did on first viewing but quite high on back leg and Bairstow is batting way outside his crease. Probably going comfortably over.

First one may be clipping the bail off in real life

Just feel at times it needs to be reined

It's wanting it both ways I guess - Like, yeah smack the ball around, but also don't let Lyon get 3 wickets by stumping (but can you have one without the other?)

Still it's better then any comedy run-out wickets that thankfully we haven't seen (so far...)

I didn't expect it would swing as wide as it did on DRS.

I took off somewhat off the seam. Think the pitch is going a little up and down. Stokes got one that kept low from Lyon that led to his review. A lead if 250 ish will make this very interestin. Some work to do for that though.

Punter is spot on.

Right. So only double what Smith and Labuschagne managed together in the first innings.

Easy enough to say after he’s out, probably wasn’t saying it after the first innings though.
