The 1st inns declaration while Root smashing it all over the park……

Well England have the lead of 250+, I don't think it's enough at all given the fact the pitch isn't offering anything to the fast bowlers still and question marks over Moeen

Someone on comms earlier said he literally can't bowl so that's good.

This field seems too weak from Australia, they had the batsmen rattled a few overs ago and now they can just knock some singles about

So Australia have whats left of today and tomorrow to get England all out and then get enough runs to surpass Englands total?
Is that right?

What it it rains tomorrow and Aus dont get to Bat 2nd Innings

Test is drawn and series remains 0-0

Technically yes. Though I imagine England will declare at some point if they're not all out before the end of the day.

If it rains tomorrow then its probably a draw. Which actually helps Australia as they just need to draw the 5 match series to retain the Ashes, due to being current holders

At this point you'd surely just tell them to go for the boundary at every half opportunity rather than declare?

50 runs short. It’ll take a monumental effort to get this Aussie batting line up out for under 300 on this pitch.

Only hope is now to reach 282 and pray for them to be haunted by the ghosts of 2005

Tomorrow's forecast very different from today. We saw what impact that had yesterday. Will be interesting to see how much intent the Aussies play with after tea.

Why's everyone crying? 50 partnership incoming from Jimmy and Broad :D

I love that we live in a world where 40 year old number 11 batsmen are playing reverse sweeps on their first ball for 4 and scores at a run a ball. It’s beautiful really

I mean you'd have taken this when Stokes got out! Lead of 280... It's definitely in the Aussie's hands, but there's a chance.

Failing that, anyone know any decent rain dances?

Give you a bit of hope? Dig the gloves out for Sunday? Show them young ‘uns how the games played?
