England Cricket 2016/17 - Bangladesh, India & West Indies (ODI's only)

What an year 2016 has been for Virat. The numbers are all insane and I'd say it's the best anyone has had in all three forms since the sport has existed in three forms. Unreal.

was following the action on cricinfo and saw this comment there:

lebigfella: "Not sure about this Kohli chap before this series but if he works hard & applies himself he could have the makings of a reasonably successful international cricketer."

Saw it too. I think it was a tongue in cheek comment

I liked the comment about how Sir Jadeja would have bowled 3 overs by the time umpire took to review Karun's dismissal

I honestly love the guy and this is from a Pakistani. Coolest batsmen I've seen in some time.. completely unflappable

This is glorious. First hour and they score like 90 runs. Yadav is impressive

Jayant Yadav's diminishing Kohli's achievement a bit here.

Jayant is a proper all-rounder in these conditions, would be good to see him get a hundred too.

He looks a proper batsman to me never mind being an allrounder. Every single innings he's played so far, his technique and temperament have been brilliant.

India need to declare soon if they harbour ambitions of winning the match. Quick runs after lunch will be what they require. A lead of 250-260 will probably bat England out of the match and the series.

I genuinely don't think England will be able to bat out 3 sessions, let alone 4, that Kohli is likely to give them

Think they'll declare once Yadav gets a 100

Don't England need to win this test to stay in the series? I really don't see how they win this match. Even if we get bowled out in the first hour of the 2nd session that would still be a lead of close to 200. No way England can overturn that and set a decent target for their bowlers to bowl at in the time left.

Yeah we can't lose from here.

I reckon England could get bowled out today. These 2 made it look easy but it's turning square now as well as bouncing.

Virat's 235 is now the highest score by an Indian Captain. I can't decide if this was better than Dhoni's 224 in 2013 vs Aus. Opposition won the toss and scored big both times (Aus 380, Eng 400) but the captains overcame the scoreboard pressure and scored what could be match winning doubles. Wankhede was difficult pitch to bat on days 3 and 4 compared to Chennai on days 2 and 3 but Dhoni had to overcome the Chennai heat and lack of reliable partners. For ex, he added 140 runs for 9th wicket with Bhuvi and contributed 100+ of it. Kohli scored a century in Chennai as well and had a century partnership with Dhoni.

Didn't get a chance to watch much but amazing partnership which totally changed match complexion. England need to bat atleast 4 sessions to save the test. I know when Kohli bats pitch looks different but how does pitch look half way into the 4th day? Do England have chance to bat it out?

Haseeb would have stayed for at least 20 overs. Easily the better opener imo

England don't need either/or of Haseeb and Jennings imo. Haseeb can return to be opener but Jennings looked decent in first innings and can add soildarity in middle order. Ali at 4th is way too early. He is not a no. 4 level batsman. Even if on other surfaces Stokes and Bairstow bat above him and though both are really good, one more proper batsman will be helpful for England. It will also give them more combinations to choose from between the all-rounders/spinners/pacers and still keeping Butler as WK, if needed.

This'll be over very early tomorrow. India won't need to bat again though. Don't want to laugh too hard at England because Australia will probably struggle in India early next year.
