England Cricket 2016/17 - Bangladesh, India & West Indies (ODI's only)

Wonder if England will keep Rashid in the side after this series if over, he's making nearly impossible to drop him

Ashwin averages 52 against England with the bat! What a year he's having as an allrounder.

Good end to the day. Looks like another exciting test match in the making.

Caught last 10 overs.. top batting from Ashwin and Jadeja.

Think we need a bit of a lead having to play 4th.

Another 100(very unlikely) would win us the match, another 50 would balance it out.

Indeed. A great rally at the end by the Indian team. Still think getting them out by 330 is our aim if we want to win this match.

Now why can't Jadeja play like this more often instead of his usual array of daft shots? Looks like somebody has had a word at him and told him to look at the way Ashwin has been playing.

England have let this one slip. Hard to win from here

And now it's well & truly over. Get 400 and you still think India will make that 270 required with little effort (given time).

Batty, Anderson, Ali & Woakes went for 0/214 good luck winning a test match with that kind of bowling

Just saw this on the BBC feed

To be fair so he should be, he's gone as our main spin bowler and he's just starting to come good. He's still taking his Test wickets at over 40 runs each but as a spinner at only 28 years of age he should have a lot more to offer this England team going forward. At least he's moving in the right direction.

On a general note this is another rather predictable England collapse but when you see people throwing their wicket away like Moeen did (reminded of KP a few years ago) under these circumstances they're really giving themselves no chance.

Really poor test match from an England point of view. Barely a positive to take.

Rashid and Stokes bowling was the least you expect tbh.

4-0 from here sadly.

Can't believe India made 420 with half the recognised batsmen getting out cheaply.

India are playing well, but the saddest thing about this series is that if we performed well, it'd be a cracking lot of test cricket.

As you say, 4-0 wouldn't surprise me, and would be more than deserved.

Hameed is brilliant for his age.

England seem to find a great player every time they tour India.

Cook in 05, Root in 12 and Hameed this series.

So England have batted first twice in the three tests thus far and are 0-2. Unforgivable.

Unforgivable?

It's hard to be too upset really. It's very difficult to win away in test matches anyway and in India especially. In these conditions India are incredibly difficult to beat. There are some positives for England from this tour.

Especially as I'd argue that s badly as England batted in this test it was their bowling that lost them the match.

To concede a 100 run deficit from where we had India (and even to allow them the start that they got) is criminal.

Also christ Hameed's second innings heroics were with a broken hand.

Lot to like about him.

I'd say England have bowled very well in general in all 3 games but the batting has let them down in last 2 games.

The balance is all wrong though. Batty/Ansari shouldn't have played. You don't play six bowlers and if you do you play someone who's actually good. Ideally, you'd have an extra batsman but apparently Ballance is unselectable which begs the question why he was picked in the squad to start of with.

Also worth pointing out that the likes of Aus, SA and NZ played on completely different pitches. These pitches haven't really done much.
