Gaming Elder Scrolls Online | PS4 Guild on ESO:TU recruiting members (Aldmeri Dominion) - currently at 31

So early access for this has started (five-day access started on Sunday; three-day headstart access for pre-orderers starts in one hour). Anyone playing it? Anyone intending to? I've put my eggs in the WildStar basket but I'm still keeping an eye on this one in case it actually turns out to be brilliant.

Will it be the first MMO on consoles? I can see it becoming the WoW for the console generation if so, since console gamers won't really have encountered anything like it before, just like WoW got a whole load of casuals hooked who were only just getting into the whole "online" thing on their PCs.

Phantasy star was on the dreamcast way back and that was an MMO wasn't it?

I think there have been others as well, especially in Japan.

I am interested in this. I played a couple of the beta weekends and enjoyed it but I simply can't justify spending £40-50 on a game that will only give me a month of play time. Have to see how it reviews and what the feedback is like.

Will be interesting hearing posters thoughts on this...

Played a couple of the beta weekends and thought it was terrible. The animations, graphics and combat system is a complete mess.

I actually thing the graphics are very good for an MMO. I remember hating the game when I started in that dungeon/prison place but after a while I started to really enjoy it. I like the combat and the feel of the world is great.

So what's it like? Busy? Give us an update when you've been playing for a bit.

I can guarantee it will be very busy today and friday especially. Watching various streams of the game on twitch. Decided if I win some money on the football tonight then I'll buy it!

It's considerably busy. Especially around the bugged quest areas which are full of exasperated players from all around Europe wondering why their objectives aren't working. I think I've seen every European language in the chat box the last few days.

I pre-ordered it on my PC but cancelled as i think i'll wait till June and get it on my PS4, it will be graphically superb and they should build on the feedback from PC to make it a really good game which it has potential to be.

I'm still shocked by how expensive it is, mind you. £50 is insane for a sub-based game.

I'm almost certain it'll be less than £50 after release. The cynical side of me sees them asking for that amount when really a portion of it is paying for the 5 or 3 days early access (glorified late beta testing). It's a ridiculous price either way, but if they don't reduce it shortly after release it's taking the piss.

You get a month free, and the subscription is 8.99 so you're paying like £40. Still quite a bit but it will probably go down to £30 soon enough. FF: Realm Reborn on PS4 for the standard edition is £25 on Amazon so depending on how well it does it could be like £30 on release for PS4, unless they're hopeful people will jump on it because of Skyrim... In the Beta i do remember seeing more negative comments than positives though.

You always get a month free, so why include it in the price?

Not gonna argue but I got WoW for free with a month free, guess that cost minus something then? I get it if you're saying 'nothing is really free'. But the retail price is 50 and you get a month free, if it goes down to 30 then it's 30 with a month free. It is what it is...

Every MMO that I've purchased the month free was included in it. Eve Online, MxO, SWTOR, Champions Online, DC Universe Online, APB, Elder Scrolls etc. I never played WoW so can't really comment on that. Free to play games tend to be different.

Thoughts on the game so far @Zarlak ?

Didn't play it too much since I have an assignment to write, I played it for a short while and it seems well put together. It doesn't massively hold your hand, I had to go manually exploring the full extent of the map because I knew there'd be quests and shit there that weren't showing until I got within close proximity. It very much feels like a Skyrim game and I haven't had any co-op play yet I've just been doing my own thing solo.

I haven't tested PVP yet but the PVE combat is pretty simplistic and exactly what I've experienced in other MMO's, free target or tab to pick up target automatically, spells bound to 1234 etc. Just like any MMO.

Not sure I like the sorcerer class that I picked so I might reroll a few times tonight.

I have never played an MMO. I really like the Elder Scrolls series, though. It will be interesting to see how the console versions are.

Been watching some twitch streams of this game and to be honest, it does look good, like a gritty WoW. Not sure MMO's are for me anymore though.

Sony are waiving the subscription fee due to gamers already subscribing to PS Plus. Microsoft, shockingly, are not following suit.

My mistake. They are waiving the PS Plus subscription. Which pretty much every PS4 owner will have anyway.

Not that great a deal, considering.

I love Elder Scrolls but I'm very much on the fence about this.

To be honest all I ever wanted was an Elder Scrolls game that you and a friend or two could play in at the same time, not a MMO.

Think I'm gonna give it a bit and see how it goes.

That is great news! I'll certainly pick it up on PS4 now.
It is, I may do the same too, and I was dead against the idea of a sub...

When you say it's like WoW that scares me off, as I'm looking for something more like TSW (story/combat) and GW2 (questing/coop)... hmmm

I couldn't possible say if it plays like WoW, you're reading a little too much into my insight!

Yeah, Xbox users will have to have Xbox live and the elder scrolls sub to play it, whereas ps4 users will only have to sub (don't need ps plus).
