Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

I done it!!! Can't believe it. Just stared at the screen in shock afterwards. Honestly thought I'd never do it.
Woooo! It's a great feeling.

I will say, he's still the boss I had the most trouble with, and I'm 60 hours in, so if you've beaten him you've done really well.

Is there a way to get to the little castle west of Stormveil? Or is that something for later in the game?

That's the island you start the game on. You can teleport back but it is a bit later on in the game, from a tower in Liurnia, and kill the boss that wrecked you at the start.

Ooh nice.

Is it possible to beat that boss first time?

Just killed the Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella, with a little bit of help from a co-op summon. I've avoided most of the underground bits because they seem fecked but I really need one more Smithing Stone (3) and it's down here somewhere apparently.

I did this one fairly early on, was a real nightmare. How did you find it?

I’m shit at this game. I usually only like RPGs that are mainly focused on story and where towns and interactions with townsfolk are prevalent throughout the game. This is a completely different beast. It’s combat focused, relatively complicated in regards to the technical parts of the game and completely unforgiving.

After a few hours of grinding in the first area I found a couple of guides on how to get OP early on in the game. Followed it to a tee. Built an absolute monster of a character. Early game bosses? Ploughing through them. Margit? Down in 5-6 hits, first try. Dead in a matter of seconds.

I’m still shit at the game, though. Haven’t properly learned how to dodge and roll from attacks on foot. Bit of a button masher still. Getting better at horseback combat though. Overall thoroughly enjoying the grind, and enjoying ez mode as I’m a limited gamer with limited time. Will get to the harder parts in due time.

10/10 so far.

Cool. Don't listen to anyone telling you you're playing it wrong either, you do what ever it takes to make it fun for you.

I think quite a few of the bosses/sub bosses favour horseback combat so that's something unique in a FS game. I've beaten a few like that now.

I also like the way they've changed the online in this. No more having to it off to stop randoms invading and griefing you. You have to actually invite them in. Likewise the co-op works really well. I've had fun just helping people beat Godrick and Margit when I want a break from exploring. Lovely stuff, apart from my shitty internet connection dropping out at annoying times.

It's defintely the most accesible FS game so far and that's reflected in the sales and feedback I think.

It’s nice helping people too. Plus you don’t lose runes if you die and can only gain them.

Yeah. I mean it's clearly designed that way. Sharing the aggro works wonders for boss fights if you hit a brick wall. Get a shot in, back off, let someone else get a shot in, rinse and repeat.

I find the open world sections gets old on reruns. I don't have much motivation to explore the open sections all over again, unless I'm making a beeline for a particular piece of loot. I wish they could have found something else to do in those open world sections, it feels so sterile in terms of gameplay ideas in the open areas. I think people will just end up rushing to wherever they need to go to make a build, and then heading to the legacy dungeons to try them out.

Found the Glintstone Dragon Smarag and the key I need to get to the academy. Knew I needed the key and was tempted to look online where to find it but thought if I explored enough I'd find it eventually and I did.

As for the dragon... might come back another time.

He’s not that bad on horseback tbh, same can be said for almost all dragons.

Yeah my horse did this weird thing where it refused to sprint despite me having stamina. Wasn’t sure if an attack made it slow or something but I had whittled the dragon down to half health and couldn’t be arsed to try again.

Is there a way to get to the big risen part south west of Liurna of the lakes?

Yes, it involves you doing Ranni's questline. If you haven't started it yet, you'll find her in one of the towers in the top left part of Liurnia. You need to clear Carion manor there, and once you've beaten the boss, you unlock the path to her. Then you start her quest which will eventually lead you to the south west of Liurnia.

Just rocketed up with one of thoes updraft things and almost landed on a boss in a meteor crater. Just FromSoftware doing FromSoftware things.

Needless to say, said boss pwned me.

Ah ok. Thanks!

level 10 mimic tear is making bosses too easy. I bet the boss at the end of ranni's quest first time and it felt like he was supposed to be a really tough one.

Melania is such a jdqwiojeuqwjeunrquenbnweirvewjornvs

Literally one move makes her so fecked, because you can't dodge it whatsoever.

@Massive Spanner when you helped people with Margit did you stand right next to the summoning pool before the battle? I haven’t been summoned to any world after waiting a while. I get summoned way more when I’m in the middle of Limgrave or somewhere like that.

Anyone tried the Blasphemous blade yet? That thing is insanely good.

Had to go back to my Golden Order GS though. Cant be a paladin if you are walking around with a sword with snakes on it. It even has blasphemous in its name. Heresy !
Is that from the one you get for killing Rykard? It looked cool but for some reason i'm not spending my boss souls yet...i can never make up my mind which one weapon/spell i want to make. I would also like to get the platinum for this game at some point and haven't looked into the requirements.

As for my own faith character, she's already turning to the dark side a bit with eating all those dragon hearts. Also there's one NPC i really do fancy killing- just for fun and because he's annoying.

I don't know about Elden Ring but in previous FS games there was a level cap to be summoned to help with boss fights. Could be the same here mate and you are overlevelled?

Feck this, I'm gonna consult a spoiler-free (as much as possible) guide. Like a fecking fool wandering around.

Theres a great one that’s popped up on Reddit last couple of days that walks you through a suggested order for the entire game so that you don’t miss a single thing. I’m gonna do a second play through just so I can follow it.
