Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

I cant beat the boss at the bottom of Haligtree, it puts 4 Kings from DS or Nameless King from DS3 to shame.

Ive tried respeccing, using the Mimic Tear, even summoning other players in for help and the best ive done is get the phase 2 and just under half health.

Has anyone else beat this yet? What did you do??

Margit is the only boss so far I’ve repeatedly died too. It’s akin to putting Artorias as the first boss in Dark Souls 1.

I probably wouldn’t attempt it until your level is mid-20s. Just explore the world, gather souls runes from your travels, level up when you’re holding enough to do so then go face Margit.

Grind a few levels and come back, advice for anyone hitting a brick wall and not getting close.

No matter what you put points into you'll improve your resistances, but as a pure melee you will need more Vigor to trade blows, plus Endurance to mid roll with heavier armour with more poise
Cheers! Good advice, I'll grind Vigor and endurance a bit more!

For anyone really struggling with Margit just summon rotten stray and then try to survive while Margit health slowly goes down.

There's just something utterly exhilirating about finally beating a boss in this game. Took down Rahdana. Feel like a serious boss :) Pretty much my last shred of magic too, super lucky!

You will only want just enough Endurance that you midroll (70% load against your maximum load) and don't have a heavy load. Beyond that it's a little less valuable than other stats unless you are playing poorly and spam roll, over commit to attacks and permanently block etc

It's better to try and find a rhythm in battle of waiting for the right opportunity to be aggressive. If you are using a shield (good idea if you don't know a fight) using guard counters is strong, otherwise keeping moving and timing a dodge and pressing once to get the invincibility frame and position yourself for the counter while being patient and not button mashing to waste your stamina with over committed attacks (which we all anyway do even if we know its a stupid idea )

There are a few good shields early on, vagabond starts with one and I think confessor does too, for others brass shield which drops from common soldiers wearing the triangular brass shield with a decent drop rate is great but heavy so requires more Endurance for the equip load. There are other lighter options with 100 block but less magic and elemental etc resistances. You won't have issues with the requirements as a strength build for most shields

It’s hell. Still can’t beat him or the boss after Godfrey so looks like I’m gonna have to get grinding.

If you are really struggling, respec to have 15 faith and 12 arcane. You need around 84 fp to cast so should be OK. You will need one blue flask to refresh after the dive bomb below 50% health

Go to the church / cathedral of dragon communion and purchase Rotten Breath. You should have some dragon hearts from progression. Use any sacred seal because you care about the dot rather than the damage from the spell.

If you need a Larval Tear there is one to the east of the grace at the south of the lake in the starting area from killing an undead who will be reborn.

Don't worry about respeccing back to your preferred build the next area you will get a ton of Larval Tears for free.

Ive already got the dragon breath but I’ve used two Larval Tears already (including the one you mentioned) because I’m an idiot.

You can find the Two Fingers Heirloom talisman in the Lakes that will give you +5 faith, and the Ruler's Helm in Altus Plain that will give you +1 faith. You can also use Godrick's Great Rune and a Rune Arc to give yourself +5 to all stats for the duration of the fight. So unless you're really low on those stats, it'll probably get you there

Been avoiding reviews and spoilers for this game as i love From Software Souls games. How is this on the PS4 or should i just wait till i can get hold of a PS5 and play it then?

Just about acceptable on PS4 apparently, but Id be minded to wait, depending on when you plan to get one.

Has anyone beaten Crucible Knight Ordovis and his buddy without summoning people? And if so, at what level? These dudes are mental and destroy my level 70 ass.

Cheers buddy, i think i will wait. Getting a PS5 at moment without paying scalper prices is tough,so i will make it a treat to myself as the first game i play on the PS5 and the first controller i break out of frustation at dying to boss X for the millionith time .

That Agheel Lake dragon wasn't that bad at all really. It's basically just circling him on horseback and whacking at his back legs/wings.

Have absolutely no idea where to go next and feel like I've got loads of objects in my inventory that I don't know what to do with. Went down into a mine near this area with loads of smithing stones where I beat some crappy giant troll mini boss.

Also I need to level up my strength a bit so I can use this brass shield.

I’m playing on PS4 and it’s just fine for me performance wise and looks wise. Still looks nice even though FromSoft games have never been the prettiest games anyway.

You get a free upgrade to PS5 as part of buying it digitally on PS4, which is nice (get fecked Rockstar)

Anyone know if you get a boost for having armour in each slot or can you get away with leaving the gloves for example empty?

Just wondering as I'm sure I read for DS3 you get a significant damage reduction if you have armour in each slot.

I did at level 80 i think, with a +15 halberd. Focused on getting the non-sword guy down first. When you have to pot, get far away from them, as their attacks have quite the range.

Certainly one of the more difficult fights.

Yeah I'm a vagabond at the moment. Having trouble with timing, think I roll too soon...he lifts his weapon and it seems to hang longer in the air than my brain expects! So I need to work on that. Other times I take my chance too soon, I maybe manage to roll for two of his hits and try and hit, but there's a third coming!

I put all my early levelling into strength, so I think I need to look at other areas.

Don't remember there ever being a boost if you have every armor piece equipped. Just goes purely based on the stats of that armor piece, so you can go with nothing.

You can leave it empty.
There was a penalty to leaving a slot open (I can't remember how significant it was but think it was marginal), but they've done away with that mechanic and now it goes solely on the pieces equipped.

Excellent! I've got the blue dancer charm, no shield and pure dex build so the lighter the better, I don't plan on getting hit but good to have a little bit of protection. Especially against some of these bullshit bosses that don't care if you want to be hit or not with their delaying and crazy AOE attacks!

I now upgraded my Grafted Great Sword to +6 so I'll get another 10 levels and try again. The fact they don't stagger makes it hard. Also imagine a shield would make it easier, but eh.

20 hours, level 34, 6 flasks of crimson tears, jellyfish ashes, Lordsworn Greatsword+4, strength 36...sorcerer rogier assisting.....50 attempts, maybe more....and can't beat Margit. Absolutely brutal. Might need to uninstall for my own mental health  Returnal was a challenge but over 30+ years of gaming I've never hit a brick wall like Margit

I don't know if you want to see this or not...

I genuinely hate Radahn, I'm playing melee and the summons managed to get him down to about 5% health left but then the summoning things disappeared? Then his un-dodgeable meteors got me... at this point it's just not fun. I'm going to give it another go but if he kills me like that again I'm going for the scarlet rot tactic. He can get fecked.

I used a discord stock tracker and got one really quickly. As long as you keep your payment details with you, you shouldn't have to wait long
