I genuinely hate Radahn, I'm playing melee and the summons managed to get him down to about 5% health left but then the summoning things disappeared? Then his un-dodgeable meteors got me... at this point it's just not fun. I'm going to give it another go but if he kills me like that again I'm going for the scarlet rot tactic. He can get fecked.

You can dodge the meteors & his follow up attack, you just have to give yourself enough room to do it. Run backwards at the same time he moves backwards.

But when it comes 5 minutes into a fight, with another 5 minutes to wait before you get another crack at dodging it, its really annoying. I didnt like this fight at all. [/quote]

Anyone know if you get a boost for having armour in each slot or can you get away with leaving the gloves for example empty?

Just wondering as I'm sure I read for DS3 you get a significant damage reduction if you have armour in each slot.

Yeah you did get a boost in DS3, not seen it confirmed for ER. But i'd go with a full set for now if you can.

Poison in this game is OP as hell and Radahn is vulnerable. The dragon breath move has got me through a lot of tough enemies and if people consider that cheap then, well, whatever.

What's your build? I actually managed to kill him in my second go by just summoning and running up to him and going nuts with melee attacks. I was using bloodhound sword and bloody dismounter, so was lucky enough to proc a bleed. He went down pretty quickly for me. I think its a mistake to play it safe with him tbh, would rather dodge him up front then contend with his bullshit meteor gravity attacks.

That Boss is cheap. I don't mind difficult bosses as long as they're fair but Radahn is just a joke shitty gimmicky boss where it takes a few minutes just to get back to him when he one shots you from nowhere.

Currently exploring Liurnia. There's so much! It's all so foggy and misty and there's the areas at the sides too. Gonna try and get in that big tower to the East.

I guess the Carian Study Hall is somewhere I should go back to later? That NPC is pretty brutal.

I can win this fight i'm certain, but little things always conspire against me. Have edited my flasks to have more magic charges instead of health and to keep spamming the long range sword attack. Like Redhan it feels a bit of a gimmicky fight

She is horrific but she is beatable at that level with a bit of shithousery, but you can't actually finish her off til much later in the game.

I thought it was a guy wizard?

i ran past and got to the rafters but had no way up. Is there anywhere I should be going at this stage? I’m level 52. That big castle in the middle of the lake looks quite daunting.

Prospector Miriam?

That's your next dungeon after Stormveil and probably doable between 55-60 but you should explore all that you can of Liurnia first.

Just ignore Carian study hall until you’re a later level. The rewards from it aren’t anything special. That big hogwarts looking castle in the middle is Raya Lucaria, where you’ll fight the next story boss. I’d say at 52 you’re in good shape to tackle it. Finishing it also unlocks respeccing in the game btw.

If I remember right, I found the RT attack was just as good and with a shorter 'cast time' than the LT one (and means you don't need to spend mana).

The range on it is still absolute miles, too, and the arc means it's pretty hard not to hit the boss. If you want to use the mimic ashes, your mimic gets the special attacks from the spear as well.

EDIT: you say long range sword attack, but I assume you are using the spear you find in the boss room?

Yeah that one. The left triggers range is huge but maybe i should try the right trigger more. The lava damage kinda worries me though.

Completely missed a quest that probably should have been done early game involving a certain character and scarlet rot. So much missable content in this game although i get the feeling that should have been an easy one to find (there's a message on the floor literally telling you about it). Somehow i still managed to miss it.

There are points in the game that will feel like that, what level are you and where are you?
15 and Castle Morne. I'm just exploring.

Opened a chest and got teleported to some mines where I was getting one-shot. Had to keep sprinting through it until I found an exit.

I feel overpowered everywhere I go and I'm level 24 or so. I'm basically resorting to farming runes so I can last a few seconds longer

So I’d never played Darks scrolls or Skyrim but just felt like I’d give it a try and my gawd the learning curve is steep. Getting smashed by everything and even some damn minions were one shoting me the wee feckers. I’ve also got a list of creatures that as soon as I get some gear and become much stronger are getting bitch slapped.

That tree spirit dude chilling on his horse. Ooooft he’s going to get it.

Yeah, you should come back to the Tree Sentinel a bit later :wenger:

I did the same thing. Haven’t gone back there since and I’m level 54. Think it happens to most players but it will be really satisfying to eventually go back there and slaughter them all. Just keep exploring until you find enemies at your level. South Limgrave should be good. I found Castle Morne a good challenge and I was around level 30ish.

Managed to beat the guy via melee! My tactics were as follows: -
  1. Dodge the arrows and summon help
  2. Don't forget to summon the healer who is on the hill to the left of where Radahn starts
  3. Learn Radhans attacks, there are a couple of moves he makes that you can punish. Note that his underbelly seems semi-safe sometimes where you can get a good few hits in
  4. Try to swarm him with your summoned help and get him down as low as you can before he goes to phase 2
  5. Phase 2 just use the same tactic again, batter the shite out of him with your summoned help and get him down ASAP so he can't shoot the 4 meteors!
I feel like my win was very much based on RNG but I'll take it after such a slog of a fight! After beating him I then beat the boss of Redmane castle which is actually 2 in 1... was a right fecker in itself but managed to get them down.

I hate the Lake of Rot so much. What a fecking cnut of an area. That ulcerated tree spirit that you have to get scarlet rot to fight is a joke. Feck you.

Castle Morne is a little tough for level 15, you probably want to stay in Limgrave and look for caves and catacombs there. Anything south of the bridge of sacrifice and north of Margit will be a little tough, if you are done around the starting area, I'd suggest dashing past the soldiers and giant sword thing at gatefront ruins/stormgate and exploring between there and the castle without getting too close cause the ballista guy is a pain.

Nice one!

I beat Radahn in the end by literally just summoning everyone and fecking off to the end of the map while they chipped away at him  Took fecking ages.

I tried that myself but the summon signs seemed to stop spawning... he then got me with one of his insta kill balls of doom.

Got absolutely wrecked by a red wolf in Nokron.. Just googled to see if its worth killing.. 4200 runes.

What the actual feck

I struggled with the Crucible Knight in one of the gaols for ages and when I finally killed him I got about 2000 runes.

20 hours, level 34, 6 flasks of crimson tears, jellyfish ashes, Lordsworn Greatsword+4, strength 36...sorcerer rogier assisting.....50 attempts, maybe more....and can't beat Margit. Absolutely brutal. Might need to uninstall for my own mental health  Returnal was a challenge but over 30+ years of gaming I've never hit a brick wall like Margit
I done it!!! Can't believe it. Just stared at the screen in shock afterwards. Honestly thought I'd never do it.

I feel like I'd enjoy this more with a walkthrough or I'll enjoy the 2nd playthrough more as I'll know so much more, which is a weird thing to say.

Soulsborne games are vague but fairly tight.

This is vague but with a colossal world, crafting and endless techniques/upgrades etc.

Just started and I see a lot of posts about grinding. Is this one of these games?

I've played all the Soulsborne games and never felt the need to endlessly grind Souls. I hope it isn't the case here.

Not at all true. I've logged 120 hours now and maybe 1 or 2 of them total i've spent grinding runes and the only times i have done that is when i am at 90% to a level up and dont want to go into a new area or i am missing one or two points to use a weapon/spell
