Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

I think I'm going to spend some time just getting the map fragments before I explore some more. Seems like it will be much easier having a big chunk of the map uncovered as opposed to what I got now.

For those discussing the lack of a pause function I just put my PS4 in rest mode when I need to pause. So far I have had no issues and it only takes 10 seconds or so on either end. Not ideal but the best I can come up with.

Anyone else using the dragon communion incantations?

Rot Breath seems pretty strong if you don't get flinched.
With summons, I think you could easily do no-hit boss kills with this. Though, that doesn't sound much fun.

Go to the blabla grave of something and fight the two crucible knight bros. Then laugh at the pitiful weakness of Margit. And then cry because there is no way anyone will ever beat them.

I haven't got that far. Looking forward to breaking my controller

Feck that fecking dragon in Caelid and its stupid rot. What a shit boss.

Edit: YEAH FECK YOU YOU LOSER YOU SUCK

Finally got some time to play this. First impressions of the way the game looks and plays - quite impressive so far. Wouldn't say the textures are immediately standing out as nextgen on performance mode, but it's an upgrade on DS3 for sure. From always seem to be a bit behind the times with performance and graphics. They sort of pull it back with the art direction which is always on point.

Combat is very much DS3 rehashed I think. Everything from the animation, to the boss pacing is DS3. Which I think is fine because I think that was very much Dark Souls for the modern audience and making it open world was already a big technical achievement. DS1 and 2 feel like you're stuck in treacle.

Killed the Dragon Agheel on the first attempt. Took me about 30 minutes as I was down to a slither of health at the end and had to make sure I got my hit in first.

You're on a murder wave.

I am! Also killed some ghost boss on a boat earlier. Looking forward to feeling powerful until some random enemy completely fecks me up

Everytime I'm in that mood I run into that basic enemy guy with the torch who's always with the guys who run away, and my horse gets kinda stuck till he disappears and I land on my ass.

Spent some time in magic Town. Was a little bit hard until I summoned my skeleton crew to distract all the magic firing bastards. Then decided to go to the castle in Caelid only to stumble on not one, but two of those infinite stamina attack spamming lion head twats. Just about made it into a small building and waited for them to forget about me so I could fast travel out with my 17k runes intact.

A gorgeous but incredibly irritating boss fight in the second phase. Beat her by just avoiding every summon she threw at me and getting cheap shots in here and there.

Not sure where to go now. Everytime i fancy going East I meet an enemy or two that just wrecks me but the north looks tough too. Might just explore for a bit.

Agreed on Rennala, mostly annoying because of the first bit.

I beat her because Wolves.

Reached her last night. Her arena gives me major Bloodborne vibes.

She killed me on my only attempt but she seems weak, I had her down to about a quarter health with a few hits with an enchanted mace.

Some of her spells seem awkward to dodge though.

Its only the most overpowered weapon in the game, broken af.

The sword of night and flame is also very broken.

I'm at a boss called Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella and it's a right bastard. Huge AOE attacks and at times it feels unfair how he just catches you.

I got him down to 1 hp and he caught me with the tip of his finger...

I beat this boss last night, the worst attack for me is the fist that drives into the ground because for some reason the AoE whenhe takes it back out kills me.

So I'm level 103 now with Dex at the soft cap of 50, HP 40 and endurance 30 and working on getting my strength up to the soft think i'm on 20ish

Completed the two legacy dungeons so far Stormville including all the optional bosses, finished Renella and all the other bosses. Finished the dual boss fight in Redmane Castle luckily it was nowhere near as painful as the infamous Ornstein and Smough from the original Dark souls, then i finally finished Radahn which then led me to unlocking the mimic tear ashes which are super powerful and has seen me put my wolves into retirement.

Not sure what i'm gonna do next think i'll work through the other bosses in Nokron Eternal City

I think I missed loads in Stormveil. I really need to head back there.

Whats the max flask's as i'm sitting on 11 flasks +7 seems to be an insane amount of healing feel invincible in most situations apart from the really difficult bosses.

Yeah, the ground pound attack is the most frustrating as if you're attacking his legs you can't get out the way of it... it's a piss take.

I've had him down to almost 0 HP about 5 times now and each time he just does that attack and there's nothing you can do. Might have to cheese or come back later.

If you get behind him and push against his right leg so you are stuck between them you are basically untouchable and can just slice away then run out when he winds up the big AOE attack rinse and repeat.

Yeah I did this, always seems to swipe right move back whenever I tried getting there.

Bloodhound fang is another weapon you can add to the broken tier. I just respecced from full str to a quality build dual wielding the bloodhound on main hand and blood dismounter on the other. You basically press L2 + R2 to win the game.

Yeah I switched to it because the Claymore is just too slow in this game. The Fang has higher damage AND it inflicts bleed.

I'm also trying to upgrade a Twinblade (not the basic one but the better version), but Smithing Stones are hard to come by.

For those going socercery route - I definitely didn't appreciate how to properly use the melee mage style. Make sure to get the magic buffs on your weapon - for me it doubles the attack damage. The game is also way more fun slicing adn dicing than ranging with sorcery, even though it's harder.

Currently deciding whether to go that route or the actual carian slicer - feels a touch slower though does loads of damage too.

Am I right in thinking you can't use magical buffs on ashes of war'd weapons?

I switched to a Golden Halberd build instead and the game seems much harder now even though that’s supposed to be a great weapon too. The fang is insane.

I've decided to play a hybrid style on this game. I've had no issue using sorcery buffs on weapons with ashes equipped.

I'm toying with idea of respeccing, but I haven't found where to do that yet.

Should I continue upgrading the Twin Blade or is there a better version out there? I currently have it at +4.

I have the trident thing from killing the Tree Sentinel but it requires 50 strength to use I think.

In previous Souls games they were extremely stingy with upgrade materials but they give you loads in this and eventually some merchants sell them. I wouldn't worry about upgrading now or saving materials for a weapon you may found later.

After the boss at Raya Lucaria Academy you can respec. You need a larval tear or something

I still can't get over the names Margit and Marika, by the way. These are relatively common female names in Hungary - in a certain generation. It brings to mind middle-aged to elderly women gossiping in a post office or a teachers' lounge instead of actually doing their job.
