Gaming Elden Ring - Fromsoftware

The whetstone knife allows you to add Ashes of War to weapons which changes their skills (e.g. the move you use when you have nothing in your left hand and you press L2) and in some cases their scaling (i.e. which attributes increase their damage).
I was wondering that because I have ashes of war but couldn’t implement them.

Yep - just have to add them at a site of grace! Also you can freely add and remove them with no penalty (odd for a From game!) so experiment and see what you like!

Not sure if I've made a mistake choosing Astrologer. I just wanted to try something different as I never go with a magic run in any of these games. But I haven't found any good spells yet apart from the ones that I started with, and all the weapons I find I obviously can't wield because my strength is shite.

I'm not that far into the game (about 9 hours) so hopefully, I'll find some good stuff soon.

So some cnut just invaded my game and killed me. Wonderful.

Protip for the morons like me: the location of the maps show up on the unmapped areas if you're been near them, as little shrine looking things.

I killed a dragon and got a heart that makes spells, I can only imagine those are the ones you want. I'm not a spell user in this play through (though I definitely will create a character for them down the line) so I've no idea what they are like though.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like something I'd want.

I haven't come into contact with any dragons yet, unfortunately. Are there any dragons within the first area of the game? I'm only a few hours in so that would maybe explain why I haven't seen any yet.

If I accidentally crouch one more time I’m going to scream.
Yep. I love this game but the button mapping is awful at times. For boss battles on horse i have to switch the L3 and triangle buttons around because i keep jumping off the damn horse otherwise  Boss battles are intense to say the least and you're gonna hit that L3 button by accident at numerous points when your nerves are completely on edge

There's one literally right at the start building, the swamp behind it.

On your horse, it's incredibly easy to beat too.

Anyone noticed that much meaner and scarier things come out in the night? I’m nervous traversing across the map in the night :nervous: The music at night really unsettles you too

Go to the lake to the right of the starting area.. good luck!! Actually not too bad on the horse.

I killed a dude in one of those goals and got an incantation that makes you drop a giant exploding fire ball. Looks bad ass. Too bad Im a low IQ sword swining cnut.

Yep, I killed two bosses down south that only showed up at night. One of them was a scary-ass bird creature thing which nearly had me but beat it on the last hit.

Took out that Tree Sentinal finally too, now to cheese the dragon...

There's one in the swamp area in Limgrave. You the need to get the the Dragon Church which is accessible through a catacomb on the beach.

I'm currently getting rocked by the Crucible knight. Those Evergaols are tough

Yeah, I can find the signs it just gives me the unable to connect error.

I've had the same issue but intermittently. It seems to resolve on ps5 if I go into my network connections and do a network test. It disconnects you from the game but it seems to fix whatever network issue is preventing a summon.

I've also had it where I think it's because I've got summon but the another player has beaten me to it. I've had cannot summon several times in a row then one just works.

Look up a guide for getting the meteor staff and the rock spell that's in the same area. Meteor staff scales s-tier with intelligence and also buffs earth spells.

You also need to find the spell vendor and then you need to find and give her an item so she sells some better spells.

If you weren't co-oping, then it was a scripted NPC invasion. No solo invasions from other players in Elden Ring, unless you specifically ask for it (by using a reusable item).

Cheers lads. I'll get right to that later. The good thing about magic is that I can keep my distance anyway.

I was reading about this meteorite staff earlier, funny enough. It's one of the things I'm definitely going to do later. It will hopefully make running a magic build a bit more fun.

NPC cnut then :)

Didnt seem to work either. Thing is, others can summon me just fine. It's odd.

Ok I managed to summon someone now. Im also trying to farm some runes by helping people kill Margit or Rennala, but the silly hosts keep dying :(

First FS game and I'm playing dual daggers dex light roll. Was expecting it to be pretty tough going, but the blood loss effect seems massively powerful. Every few hits with the daggers (both with blood loss passives) a massive chunk of the targets hp will disappear from the bleed effect. I think blood loss is a decent way to go if anyone is struggling with bosses, it probably accounts for half my damage - and the twin daggers stack it up very, very quickly.

Using this in main hand: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Reduvia which lets you stack up blood loss from range if you need to as well with its own special attack.

Does anyone know if you can do multiple saves/playthroughs at the same time. I quite fancy trying a more agile dex build either duel wield daggers or go the katana route. Feel like I’m too cowardly on this game hiding behind a shield.

Also apologies for another question but has anyone tried the Twinblade weapon. I think it looks so cool even though I can’t wield it in this build.

You can just respec your character with an item at a certain point not thaaaat far in.

You can have multiple characters at the same time, but what you can't do is save from an earlier point with the same character then go back to it. I actually restarted multiple times to try different classes and see what I liked best!

The Twinblade is fantastic - an absolute must for anyone going dex early if you ask me.

Faith build while using the Grand Scythe and a shield when not using incantations. Its beastly.

Thanks. Just took out everyone in the gatefront ruins but didn’t see a shield anywhere.

Also killed the stomachless giant thing and thought it was a real achievement until a saw a whole field of them
Yeah its not a high drop rate. It drops specifically off the ones that have the bronze/gold shields. Keep farming them, trust me its worth it, that shield will carry you throughout the game.

Alternatively you could consider the 'berserker' build I'm running. It's absolutely melting everything and its good fun:

(I know it says Vagabond, but you could easily do it with Hero too, similar stats anyway).

Went full strength build. Dualwielding great swords.

At times I wish I was ranged for the cheese factor, but the power stancing jump + L1 attack is too fun. I've 3-4 shot some bosses too :D

Yeah he's bending me over too. His tailswipe thing is some bullshit, barely any time to react to it. I've left him for now and will come back once I'm overlevelled, and plan to repay the favour.

Just a big old melee build based on Hero class for me.
Heavy Load, Big Shield that negates physical damage, Greatsword though I interchange it with a longsword when it feels slow.
Have to be a little more precise with rolls and timing but its worth it for just tanking it out at certain times.

So I just killed a dragon and got his heart, but now I need to take that somewhere. Aso found the woman who can sell me spells, so things are looking up for my magic build. Just need to find some decent armour for Astrologer now.

There's a cave you go through that gets to an island way to the west of the starting area where you use the hearts
