You don't lose two of the best players in the league and not suffer. My opinion is that if we lose one we can still win the league if we lose both we won't. I expect bigger seasons from Walcott and Arshavin and a big push on from Ramsey.
Depends which Arshavin turns up for you, in fairness he did seem to play alot better when Fabregas was out of the side. I think he likes to be the superstar. He must be getting on a bit now though.

You can add good old Pascal Cygan to the 'shit experienced signing' list.

Arshavin's 30, he let himself go fitness wise over the summer and never really recovered (see Rooney, who did pick up late on).

No, you can't add Pennant to the list. You've missed the point entirely. We've brought up some average young players, but extraordinarily rarely purchased an ESTABLISHED player akin to Downing.
Two adverbs, my my!;)

So now it's rarely when you originally stated "never".Which is it?

He cost £1.5M and was a whole lot better than Ferreira, Bridge, Zhirkhov or Boswinga who cost about £80M between them.
Ahh, PeterStorey and the Chelsea comeback, I didn't see that coming at all.

He was better than Torres has been for Chelsea...
As was my response at the end of last season, when Anelka arrived in January 2008 he scored two goals to the end of the season, the following year he was the top scorer in the premier league.

The Phil Neville argument? He's been crap for the money like the rest of them.
Absolutely, though the merits (or lack of them) of Paulo Ferreira isn't exactly relevant in a discussion about some of the purchases of Arsene Wenger.

You don't think it's a relevant point to make when you hold up a £1.5M player who was decent, when you've made a string of shite fullback signings? Don't you think you should shut the feck up?
When the discussion is about the players that Wenger has signed, no I don't.

Don't you think you need to calm down a tad?

Rosicky isn't any better. He was about the same age as Downing when you bought him.

Let's not go overboard here, Downing isn't complete crap. Sure, he's a long way from top 4 quality, but he's not a complete donkey like Jeffers.
While injuries have clearly taken Rosicky's edge away as he's no longer the player he was in his mid-20s, he showed far more quality at Dortmund and internationally with Czech Republic than Downing ever has.

Sky Sports sources understand Stewart Downing would prefer to join Liverpool, despite interest from Arsenal, and the deal could be finalised on Monday. Click here for the full story.
Interest.

Agree with all of that. Rosicky looked potentially top class at times when he was younger. Downing is far from shite but equally far from top class. A quite capable player when used correctly.

Pretty sure Downing favors a move to Anfield. He would rather play together with his scouse mates than play in the Champions League.

Anyway, Downing to Liverpool is good news for Arsenal. Will improve Arsenal's strength in depth, but he isn't a quality injection they desperately need. Additionally, +-20m for Downing and Arsenal used up all their funds.

There is only Walcott who could actually put in a decent cross from time to time for Arsenal. Arshavin, Rosicky and Bentder don't do much. Nasri of course is good. Downing's crosses are very good and he will definitely strengthen both Arsenal and Liverpool. The latter I think have enough options, so Arsenal would be a better fit for him.
