Television Doctor Who

Was it any less nonsense than the one where David Tennant ran the Olympic Torch into the stadium? Or the one where they got everyone in the world to think of him at the same time which gave him super regenerating anti-goblin levitating psychic powers? Or where they brought him back into existence by "remembering him"

Sometimes this show just goes full retard.

The show is silly at the best of times, it's when it forgets its own silliness that it can be nearly unwatchable.

I will agree with the Olympic Torch EP, that was just to get an Olympic EP in there, but the other one was was excellent, part of a multi ep series end, I thought it worked really well.

Of course there were some silly episodes in the Tennant era, but they were still very watchable, well for me anyway. I could happily sit through that Olympic episode again, for example, if I was flicking channels and it was on. Silly TV? yes, but still fun.

Some of the recent episodes though have been borderline nauseating, and far far below the standard of even the poorest Tennant-era episodes.

The "everyone say his name at the same time and he can turn into an unexplained magic regenrating flying god with magic powers through the power of love" episode?

No pauldy, that was full retard.

I don't mind SciFi sillyness, as long as it's consistent with it's other sillyness, or explained. That just came out of nowhere, solved the whole episode, and then nothing even remotely like it happened ever again.

I think that was also the episode where John Simm said "here come the drums" and then a big CGI scene happened to that godawful "Voodoo Child" dance track.

I hated that as well.

Not really , it was a 2parter and Martha spent a year walking the earth to spread the word, it was explained that it was Master's Archangel Satellite network that he had tuned in to.

That was a terrible episode. Awful.

Good episode, much better than last week.

Saw this picture a few hours ago, made me uber excited.

I actually didn't enjoy it that much really, but there will be a return of
the cyber men
some point this season I think so that should be fun.

The Pond episodes were just a waste of time. I'm interested in knowing who Clara is, but it seems this part of the season may be building up to the 50th anniversary episode.

The Ponds thing was OK, just a bit strung out, the ending with the Weeping Angles was really good.
I agree about Clara and I can see quite a few characters for the Doctors past coming up in the weeks to come.
Really looking forward to the 50th.

I felt it was a bit obtuse personally.

These self-contained episodes that have nothing to do with the larger plot have always been a bit shit. This one was especially boring though.

Perhaps the worst episode I've seen and there have been some rotters in there.

It seems like I'm the only one who's thoroughly enjoyed the last 3..
It's building for something, and the little quirks that are mentioned are frickin epic.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion I guess.

He went to the empathic woman to specifically find out what's different about Clara, and it just happened to get sidetracked.
Also, the way the TARDIS agrees to rescue him shows how it trusts her.
This episode was simply to build the character relationship between the two.
It's building up to how she's died twice etc.

Yeah, admittedly there was a slight nod to the Clara plot but very little really. If the story of the episode been good it would have been enough I suppose. Or if the Clara plot somehow tied into the episode story.

I think my expectations for Doctor Who are too high. Two or three episodes a series are excellent but the rest are underwhelming.

I think the Clara part was entirely for the sake of it. If we didnt have that episode we'd think exactly the same about her as we do now.

The tardis trusted the Doctor, had nothing at all to do with Clara. She didnt do anything except plead with it and then fall about inside it as it flew. She didnt pilot it or anything.

There are hints dropped throughout the series, like with the Doctor Donna storyline. You'll recognise it all when they do the inevitable montage of all the hints dropped in every episode to explain the plot coming together in explanation of Clara.

I must be one of the only ones who enjoyed that episode. I thought it was a lot better than the previous ones.

Yeah true, but if the TARDIS did not trust Clara, she would not of been let in and can the TARDIS fly itself?

Yeah, tonight's episode was slightly better than the previous two. At least they're starting to link up Clara's storyline finally.

Paul, the Tardis doesn't need the Doctor. It just so happens it works 'with' the Doctor. A bit like Luggage in Discworld.
