Television Doctor Who

Quite liked that episode. Thought it was interesting he asked the psychic about Clara and whether she's just a normal girl. Shows he doesn't know what she is and the preview for next week suggests he doesn't trust her completely. Looking forward to when all her details are revealed.

Have the Great Intelligence Institution (I think that's what they're called) been mentioned since episode 1?

I thought it was alright, but its all getting a bit boring though. The episodes aren't really going anywhere.

Obviously Clara is gorgeous but do I care about her? Not really. Time leaking out of the universe, "darkness will fall", the Ood, Jack Harkness, etc. Practically everything in recent Doctor Who lore has been more interesting. Clara also doesn't seem to have much of a personality, yet. We've been given her for us to like and discover as we go along but compared to the amount of effort to create Pond's back story she's pretty barren.

Oh for the days of impossible planets orbiting black-holes, an ancient prison for the devil before space faring-humans with alien-slaves release him.

I caught the last 20 mins, I must've watched it for the first time in 5 years...what stood out to me was it's seemingly high production costs. Must admit it was beautifully put together. Not the I have any idea what it was about, I mean I gave it up years ago...because the revamped Doctor Who lost the original's essence.

The Satan Pit, maybe the best ep .

Well we already knew he doesnt know whats going on with Clara. Thats been the whole point of this series.

Clara is not great as a companion, but it's early days and maybe she'll come into her own. How ever it's disappointing, considering how great characters the future and past Clara's were. Modern day Clara is just quite bland and boring.

Think this series has suffered due to the break, they should of just got shot of Amy and Rory at the end of the last series and had Clara start from the beginning. Instead of splitting this series into two and just rushing both story arcs.

Great point. Best episode before the break, her introduction.

Think this was a much better episode than the Rings of Macintosh. Not as good as it could have been though.

Next one looks good though, always fun to see more of the TARDIS.

Quite enjoyed this one.
Had this weird affinity with the '70's science boff' bloke then I suddenly realized it was the geezer who played Sir Matt Busby in that excellent drama about the Babes couple of years back!....anyway, carry on!

Really loved this episode, especially loved the dynamic how the TARDIS was changing, made for really cool scenes.
As a Time War nut, seeing that book gave me the fits. I wonder if he's leading up to something as part of the finale, or was that a nasty tease? The time war hasn't been mentioned in at least 2/3 seasons....

Still can't believe she actually got to find out his name, albeit only for a few minutes.

So none of that actually happened. Brilliant.

That's the whole point. It's clearly showing just how potent that info was, and they're leading up to the finale. Moffat quoted that the last episode will change the show, forever.

We already knew everything. There was some very slight character development, and then some character undevelopment. Great

Best episode so far IMO. Really liked the CGI and them exploring the TARDIS.

Doctor seems happier with Clara not knowing about their past meetings, but again it's obvious he doesn't know what she is and that scares him.

My speculation on what may happen:

I reckon Clara remembers what she saw/read and this will be revealed in the finale.

Doesn't River also know his name? Maybe there is a link between her and Clara?

I agree best so far.

I think River does know his name, the idea of a link between River and Clara, could be a runner.

I hope next weeks is better than it looks, I think the walking Jacket Potatoes are just boring.

River definitely knows his name, she told him the day they met, or the day that he was supposed to die. Whichever one it was, she knows his name.

I've got a question, and wanna see if anyone shares my view ...
Clara read "the book". The book is supposedly written in Gallifreyan.
Did the TARDIS translate, or can she actually Gallifreyan?
History of the Time War book.

I was under the impression that the TARDIS translated everything spoken and written word.
In the EP when we found out who River really was, the TARDIS translated the bit of cloth and the words on the Doctors old crib.

Yes, but the TARDIS is a conscious entity. It only translates because it wants to.
It would know Clara was reading it, so why would it translate a huge dark part of his history, including his name?

Yes true, but the TARDIS does have its faults, like being stuck has a Police Box because its chameleon circuit is faulty, may just only one of those, or maybe the TARDIS let Clara read it knowing what was going to happen and she would not remember.

Still, it makes me ponder why it would actually tell her, even if only for a short term.
Add in the fact the Moffat actually said that the Doctor hasn't just seen her this season (including the governess and the souflet girl...)

Whoever she is, I hope it is explained properly and that it makes sense. I like Moffat, but his stories all have convenient endings which are too foolish to believe (future doctor going to the past to release him from the prison thing, the clone doctor 'dying').

Why does their have to always be some sort of fancy stuff going on?

There really is no need. Also ditch the Sonic Screwdriver for a bit please.

Also, somehow they whittled away the idea that he has a limit of regenerations.
Read here.

The moment comes in the CBBC spin-off show, The Sarah Jane Adventures, which stars former companion Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith. Matt Smith, who plays the current Doctor Who, guest stars in a two-part episode called The Death of the Doctor, to be screened on October 25 and 26. While the Doctor and Clyde Langer, played by Daniel Anthony, are in the process of outwitting spooky vulture undertakers the Shansheeth, Clyde asks how many times he can regenerate. The Doctor indicates that there is no limit. The action continues.

The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I know its a kids program but some of the EP's are very good and if you like Dr Who you will like this.

And once in a while they'll tell you something like what I said above. Having more than 13 regenerations? That's cheating!
