Television Doctor Who

Just finished dot and bubble and this was absolutely garbage. I didn't think they could do worse than Space Babies and a shame as two episodes were decent.

What was garbage about it?

It was cheaply done and just a poor copy of the emoji episode of the Capaldi era.

I've noticed this season is basically lesser quality rip offs of episodes we have seen before.

Even the ending which is getting some praise could have been done a lot better and not tried to hide the racism angle so much.

They have been so upfront on other matters this season it's strange they got so shy about calling out racism

I see what you're saying about them rehashing other previous episodes but disagree on the quality. Thought it was well done.

Also, I think that was the point re: the racism. That there are micro-aggressions people face daily that aren't noticeable to the masses and it's prevalent but people love to act like there's a post-racism world. I got from it that it's just a different take on calling out racism i.e the subtle kind that's in your face but not. And you won't see it unless you're the person who faces it often. It's easier to spot the loud ones but not the silent ones.

So a very camp bridgerton episode with a very long gay kiss for no particular reason.

This season seems to be Russell Davies going all out to wind up people who more than likely never watch the show anyway and in the process just alienate a lot of people who do

I personally don't watch the show too see the doctor have a romance.

Can't help thinking his return to the show wasn't the great move a lot of people hoped for

First episode I've been meh on. Just didn't fulfill its potential. A half-baked romance isn't really a thing for Doctor Who. All the romances in the show have been long-established for the side characters being introduced in an episode or the Doctor has had them built up over multiple episodes.

A one-and-done romance just didn't fit and pulled focus away from making a better story. Looked at the credits for the two writers and they've all been shorts so far. I can see why.

The weakest episode of the new series so far, for me. Villains were shite. WTF was Ruby doing all episode. Are we supposed to care about the romance for the Doctor? I couldn't care less. More believable romance in an actual episode of Bridgerton.

Totally switched off from last nights episode, no idea what was going on, not my taste in the slightest. Previous two episodes were much better.

Just watched this and to be honest , I did not dislike it, previous Dr’s have had romances, the Girl in the Fireplace , comes to mind.

Thought that was a good part 1. We'll see if they stick the landing this week for the finale.

It makes the whole bi generation thing more jarring though. Are we really supposed to believe that Fourteen is just sat at home chilling while the world is in crisis not to mention Rose is bang in the middle of it?

This season has been either very good or very bad. No inbetween

Bad - Space Babies, Devils Chord, Dot & Bubble
Good - Boom, 73 Yards, Rogue, Legend of Ruby Sunday

This season has been a mess.

Agreed. My favourite episode of the season so far. Generally speaking, with hindsight, I usually find the setup episode to the finale better than the finale itself.

I have just watched the last 2 eps.
I think they saved the series, definitely saved the best 2 till last.
I have a few questions.
When the world was going to shit, where was 14 ?
and who is Mrs Flood !!

I agree with @jasT1981 this series was either very good or very bad and with his list.
Bad - Space Babies, Devils Chord, Dot & Bubble
Good - Boom, 73 Yards, Rogue, Legend of Ruby Sunday.
I will add Empire of Death to the good list.
I was unsure when he took over, but I think Ncuti has been a success, while watching I thought I was watching Tennent sometime, some of the stuff he said and the way he said it, maybe that was intentional, I did not even mind Ruby.
Looking forward to his second series.
Overall series gets a solid 7.5/10

That last episode was absolute garbage. The one before was good but the last one was just terrible and pathetic writing.

Once you see so many people getting killed in the first ten minutes you then know everything will be reset by the end. Therefore there are no stakes for anyone dying.

Ruby's mother explanation was laughable to say the least not to mention she was named by a woman on her own pointing at a random sign that no one saw her do.

Suetekh hanging around the TARDIS since Tom Baker's days and nobody every noticed is beyond stupid and they killed him far to easy as well.

Rose was there for no reason whatsoever didn't even have a line and there is no chemistry at all between Ruby and the Doctor so their goodbye meant nothing.

Ncuti did a good job and is up there with Capaldi acting wise but has so little to work with and I'm just sick to death of him crying. Does he have to cry every ten minutes?

I honestly got to the end and was glad I don't have to watch it again till Christmas. It's not been a good return for Russell at all.

Capaldi had Missy (who was such a brilliant character). Also Capaldi had 'heaven sent' probably one of the greatest Doctor Who episodes of all time.

So we know they are capable of coming up with great characters and great episodes. I don't know why they allow the bar to drop so low so often.

Btw, I liked Jodie Whittaker's doctor but she didn't have the best storylines either.

Capaldi, Clara, Missy is peak Doctor Who for me personally.
