Television Doctor Who

My daughter keeps telling me her form tutor's best friend is the new assistant. Pfft.

I liked it. I like the whole superhero thing, so that mixed with Who is good.

Not looking forward to this new series. That new companion looks dreadful.

Thought that was quite bad.

Pretty much a pisstake/parody of all the DC/Marvel superhero shows on TV at the moment. I get the Xmas episodes tend to be more silly than usual but that was really poor.

Bill is going to be an annoying bitch. Hopefully Capaldi is as good as he was last season or it will get annoying pretty quickly.

I really hope they do the 2-parters again. Made last season so good when the episodes weren't rushed & the story was allowed to develop properly.

Edit: Lucy was a decent character. She'd have made a good companion IMO.

Christ, are all the recent Doctors and Companions on zero-hours contracts or somethin'?

I didn't even watch the Xmas special, I've grown to despise Moffat and his cowardly writing. Is it worth a watch?

Whishaw was excellent in Richard II, I think he could do a good job. I realise Ayoade is not to everyone's taste and I don't think he even considers himself an actor, but would be something very different after Capaldi.

I've not really watched much Doctor Who, but my 7 year old is obsessed with it...he watched all 10 series of the newer stuff over about 3 months...

He'll be gutted as he likes Capaldi as the Doctor, but his favourite was Matt Smith...

The Doctor should, for me, be an eccentric, a bit weird, so in that sense, Ayoade would be good I think...

I'd be absolutely delighted with either Wishaw or Ayoade, but the former is too big a star now I'd think and I just can't see them going as left field as Ayoade. One thing is for sure though - they'll go younger. Iwan Rheon, Tom Ellis and, given the Chibnall connection, Russell Tovey are the sort of actors I could see them going for.

Ayoade always plays Ayoade. His personality would suit the doctor, but can he develop the character enough

We'll have to wait 'til 2018 to get an appointment.

It's needs a shake-up now and the change in creative team should help. I'd like to see Patterson Joseph or Daniel Kaluuya in the role.

That fecking dr who goon in my office, that I've mentioned in here before, was crying over the Capaldi exit .

I quite like the idea of a woman doing it,Olivia Colman would be a decent shout .
How about Catherine Tate coming back has Doctor Donna?

I heard that one of the favourites is that God awful Miranda woman from the don't call the midwife rubbish.

I'd agree with this. Moffat's writing was the best in Doctor Who always had the best episodes but the past 2 or 3 season have become stale it in need of a change. The Christmas special was such a half arsed attempt. Almost like he wasn't bothered. Which is a shame cause I think Capaldi has been great but let down by poor scripts.

Daniel Kaluuya would have been great but he's in a few big movies coming up I doubt he'll do it. I do think it'll be a none white male Doctor.

Olivia Coleman is a good shout, she is one of the bookies favourite. She'd be great and Chris Chibnall does work with her on Broadchurch.

It's like Moffat got so confused between writing for Sherlock and Doctor Who that they both ended up being written shit.
