Television Doctor Who

I liked this episode too. Had a very 'Alien' feel to it. The story had a very clever horror theme and had an interesting mystery to it. My gripes were the annoying camera angles towards the beginning, though it did fit in well with the atmosphere. Didn't like the rushed ending either as they aren't going to conclude this story arc for a few weeks. They obviously haven't addressed Clara-Sand signal aspect, which they obviously want to leave for now but the story arc sticks out like a sore thumb and not something you will easily brush aside in the coming episodes. Still thought it was really good though.

is it another 2 parter ?

Interesting idea for an episode, I quite enjoyed it.

is she now this 'hybrid' dust person thing? They've not addressed how to fix her. That said, was any of it even real? The ending confused me somewhat.

i thought this episode was shite. it also wouldn't surprise me if they ignored the end and left it unresolved

I think it was a good idea, but one which kind of got lost within itself really. It was a nice premise, but it didn't quite end up as it should've done, it's almost as if they couldn't work out how to actually turn it into a full episode, but they either liked it too much to leave out or didn't have enough episodes without it. It was a bit too much to fit into one episode, but I imagine they couldn't really justify making it into two so will either tie up the loose ends during another one or just hope people forget. It was well made, though, technically, especially in the way of camerawork, and it was pretty creative, so fair play on that. Well acted as well, again.

Really enjoyed last night's episode. They had built Clara's departure for the whole season & I'm glad they've killed her rather than some long/parallel universe bullshit that they sometimes do (I'm assuming she's staying dead) Jenna Coleman was superb, as was Arya who I'm hoping we'll see more of. Capaldi was brilliant again, he's really making this his own role now.

Had no idea she was going to die in that episode. I was like:
"Of course something is going to save her",
"Sure that "there is nothing you can do" - some idea will pop in your noggin in a second"
"OK, cutting it a bit late...."
"Shit".

Coleman has been superb, in more ways than one. Very good episode.
I love the darkness Capaldi showed in that episode - fantastic.

Next week's looks great.

I'm still in denial! :(

I liked the bit when she thrust her chest out just before the raven killed her.

Er...I mean...her line delivery was excellent.

It was all a bit sexual really. I mean she got penetrated by a 'raven', arched her back, stuck her tits out, made an orgasm face and then collapsed to the floor.

I was just suprised Capaldi didn't follow it up by tea-bagging her.

I take it you haven't seen the preview for next week then?

Really sad to see Coleman go. I know that she wasn't everyone's favourite but I absolutely loved her time as the assistant and at times her and Capaldi carried the show, certainly the most attractive assistant in the modern era anyway. Excited to see who is going to be the next assistant, but am hoping they follow the stereotype of hiring an attractive young lady in her mid 20's as it kind of works for me.

Great episode with a sad ending. Really surprised that they actually killed her though.

Wait isn't she coming back because of sand or something?
I read this on a Dr Who page.

Still, I don’t trust Moffat to leave well enough alone, to simply let Clara’s death be the driving force for The Doctor’s anger at Ashilda in the finale. I feel like he’ll either find a way to bring her back so that he can let her go again, or we’ll find out that the Clara that died was yet another Zygon copy. There’s got to be a reason there was a Zygon two-parter so close to Clara’s death.

Christ, the last 2 episodes have been superb. The end scene of this weeks episode was amazing.
When I saw the Doctor leave the trap house and land on a dusty planet I knew exactly where he was.
I let out a shriek when I saw Gallifrey

I was playing with my phone a lot during tonight's episode, foolishly really.

Was quite a weird one. Was good, just not sure if I totally understand it. Who sent him to that weird place? And why was he still seeing Clara?

He was transported there as part of Ashildr's bargain in the last episode. The bits where he was seeing Clara were playing out inside his mind, we were introduced to that when he jumped out the window near the beginning of the episode.

Unless my heads gone and I'm making stuff up I think that's right.

EDIT: Yeah you chose a terrible episode to feck around on your phone in :D

Me too

Clara was in his head. He was imagining she was there and was trying to figure out what to do, ie denial.
I think the gallifreyans sent him there, or at least someone on gallifrey who means to do harm.
The trailer for the next episode mentions the hybrid.
How old is the doctor now? Does it actually count that he's over a billion years old?

Brilliant episode, loved it & Capaldi was superb. One question I have is if the rooms are resetting, shouldn't the diamond room where 'home' is also reset? And has he aged something like 2 billion years?!

Hope to see a strong conclusion to the best season in quite some time.

when he was staring at the stars & was confused about their positioning, I suspected he was on Gallifrey. Felt like Sherlock Holmes when I got that right :D

Not seen the preview for next week but I hope it's not Missy behind it, that would be predictable.

I was wondering this. My conclusion was that he's only aged the duration of one 'run' through the building as he was basically constantly reset to his state at the point of entry.

Very weird episode. I did enjoy it, but couldn't work out what was going on most of the time. Though, if the fortress was supposed to reset every time, why did the diamond wall he was trying to break through not reset either? Seems a bit of a plot hole to me, but maybe there is a bit of an explanation somewhere I missed.

I explained it to myself that it didn't reset because it was (or was on) the border

Finale today! It's been a great series & hopefully we get an equally good conclusion (maybe even a TBC for once!)

That episode was really good in parts, but also a bit boring. Too much soppy stuff about clara, and not enough Gallifrey for my liking. I really enjoyed the episode but Moffat tried to do too much.

What a load of tosh.

All that build up, probably the best episode of the season last week, and then that.

Moffat needs to feck off with his inability to actually kill characters off.

Really pleased that there was a proper goodbye between the Doctor and Clara. It was a strong episode with good interactions between the characters. But for an episode with Gallifrey in it, I'm a little disappointed that the story was a little weak here.

Still, it's been the strongest Doctor Who season in a long time and they will find it difficult to follow. Christmas episode looks fun though.

Poor episode to an otherwise brilliant season.

Moffat just couldn't resist going an entire season without trying to be a clever cnut. Clara should've stayed dead the way she was. Her death was perfect, they had their bye bye & it was a strong death. But he couldn't just leave it like that!! So she's going to die, but first she's going to go on a long adventure with Arya (who was brilliant again) If Clara doesn't want to die, why didn't she just stay with the Doctor?? I'm guessing this might be leading to a spin-off series/one-off special.

Not enough of Gallifrey & the story was weak. Shame as this has been a great season. Capaldi was superb - his speech in the Zygon episode & his performance last week were my favourites. Coleman was excellent too & Arya lived up to the hype. Maisie is a terrific actress, would love to see her back in future seasons. I also loved the TBC episodes, they gave the characters & stories time to develop and made for more cohesive & tense episodes. I would like that approach to continue next year round.

Thought the "Death is time-lord for man-flu" remark was  Also thank feck the screwdriver is back!
