Television Doctor Who

Forgot this was on.

Was it any good, or is it still shit?
It was okay, first of a 2(i think) parter. Looks like they've upped the budget so they can use better location. As long as Moffat doesn't do his usual "of feck we're out of time, look everything's sorted here" thing it has potential to be among his better work.

Better episode than most of the ones last season. This episode had a very good plot, a good twist and finished on a brilliant cliff hanger. My main issue was that the middle bulk of the show didn't really do it for me with the whole guitar scene being just plain bizarre. Fortunately, the beginning scenes and final 5 -10 minutes were really on form and am looking forward to seeing how the story concludes next week!

I agree. Thought the middle was a bit "meh", but the start scene and the latter third made up for it. Really didn't expect that guy to be the kid at the start.

Agree with the opinions above. The middle took some momentum and seriousness out of the episode, but with the younger target group and all I can understand that I think. Nice starter for the season and the cliff hanger sets up a lot of possible stories and arcs for this season.

That was the best episode in a long time, certainly Capaldi's best.

Missy is fantastic

FFS

It was alright though, for a moment towards the end I thought it was going to take a dark turn and be a 3 parter, but that didn't materialise obviously. The production values are better than before so that's a plus.

That was a really good episode I think. Missy's a great character, Clara wasn't a major part of the story and the Doctor was fantastic.
Good story, pretty decent acting and seeing Skaro in depth was cool.

Good episode. Loved the scene between Davros & the Doctor. Missy was superb again, wonder what her/his great idea is?

I'm guessing 'The Hybrid' will be this seasons big final monster battle.

another cracking EP, best opening of a series for a long time.
The stuff between the Doctor and Davros was excellent.
I was even taken in by the trap.
Hopefully the rest of the season will carry on this good.

Missy is starting to make me tingle with excitement. It's like she's controlling my enjoyment levels and knows it. That evil innocent smile of hers, facking hell.

Not sure what the point of the ending was? Surely when they took some of his power, that's how mercy got into the DNA of the Daleks? I'm gonna pretend to understand if going back in time to save Davros affects anything!

I think the logic was supposed to be that The Doctor instilled some mercy into Davros and that's how it got into the Daleks. It was a bit crap though.

No fecking idea what the hell happened with the ending there.

The sonic sunglasses are a cute idea but when they just look like a totally bog standard pair of Ray-bans that he flicks about a bit to 'use', it seems a bit dopey.

Best episode in ages. Got nothing negative to say about it really and hope the rest of the season carries on in the same way.

They've said mercy before. One asked River Song during the pandorica episode.

I missed it. Would be horrible if someone torrented it. I'd want to know where that is so I can scold them thoroughly.

So Saturday's episode had the lowest viewing figures since 1989, which was when it got cancelled.

What's the chance of the Beeb panicking and replacing Capaldi?

I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. But invariably every season has a couple of good episodes scattered among the rest of the crap. Hopefully it will be different this time around.

...with Joey Essex.

Is Capaldi good? I've been avoiding it as everyone i know says that it's rubbish since he took over. It was going downhill with Matt Smith anyway due to the awful writing, i assume this is still the problem?

Writing is still pants for the most part but Capaldi is very good imo. Even the bad episodes during his run are watchable for his scenes.

Best episode in a long time. Absolutely loved it from start to finish. It was intense, dark, intelligent with just a little humour, exactly what I want in a Doctor Who episode. Unfortunately I got the link between the writing on the ship and the ghost's behaviour from the word go but other than that it was perfectly paced throughout with a superb twist at the end which actually leaves me extremely excited for next week's episode.

That was weird as feck though. Like it was made so obvious that they were related and then not addressed for the whole episode.

Brilliant episode again. Loving this season so far, Capaldi has been terrific in each episode.

Capaldi's not the problem imo.

Its the state of the writing.

thats the thing that drives me nuts about doctor who all these great set ups then like a 30 second crappy wrap up that leaves you feeling completely cheated :(

Finally got round to watching the first two episodes. They were okay, quite good at times (that guitar segment was terrible mind) but Missy was just far and away the best thing about both episodes, that without her, I don't hold up much hope for the rest of the series...well until she pops back up again.

I'm really struggling to take to Capaldi as the Doctor tbh. He just seems a bit to normal. He comes across as an old man who travels through space, rather then a 1000 year old alien who travels through space. If that makes sense?
