Television Doctor Who

Id agree with that although I do like Smith as well, Ecclestone edges it for me as he is more angry and has that fire about him, whereas Tennant is not so much.

I liked Ecclestone better too. I stopped watching it when Tennant took over the role. He's too geeky and quirky for me. He doesn't come across as someone who's had as hard a life as the Dr has.

Only recently ( the last 3 months or so ) Gotten into Dr Who, with the nipper and we have a recurring row over the best Dr, Christopher Ecclestone or David Tennant........whos right?

Ecclestone without a doubt. And I hate the cnut for abandoning the show after one season! He could portray emotions from universe destroying anger to playfully jolly at the flick of a switch. Never really got that with Tennant, who was still good but not on the same level.

Ecclestone's episode with the lone Dalek, titled 'Dalek', I thought was incredible. The realisation that he may just have killed his family, his people, heck half the universe, and he still failed in what he sacrificed them all for. All that sort of came across perfectly.

That episode is a masterpiece, it really hits all the right emotional buttons, although Tennants "I dont want to go" still tears me up more than any other moment

The last half hour of End of Time is purely self indulgent wankery of the highest order but I cry throughout every time.

Its funny, but you are spot on, you know its over indulgent and sappy, every part of your brain is telling you that at the same time as the emotional side of you is screaming its sad though!

Yeah, and it's even more impressive when you consider the fact that he was talking to an inanimate object...

Tennant for me , he had some of the best ep's Dr Who has ever had, The Girl in the Fireplace and the double Satan Pit are examples.
I do like Ecclestone and his Doctor was brilliant, wish he had stayed longer the one season.

I got really into Doctor Who during the Smith era. Well just during the transition from Tennant to Smith actually. I think I prefer Smith, even though I'm sure the die-hard Whovians would prefer the previous ones. I just liked Smith's humour and weirdness I feel. Had a right balance of soppy, weird, funny, clever, spontaneous, arrogance.

Matt Smith was actually my favourite. Quite an achievement considering how terrible Amy and Rory were.

Matt Smith is the best Doctor so far, including the classic ones. Not the best actor to play the Doctor, but the actor who played the Doctor best by quite a distance.

I first got into Doctor Who in Smith's first season. After that I went back and binged all the previous New Who, and the order for me is now Tennant > Eccleston > Capaldi > Smith. In saying that, I still liked Matt Smith's Doctor. As others here have mentioned, it's definitely the writing that lets the character down after Season 5, not the actor.

A more interesting discussion for me though is favourite and least favourite companions. I'm not sure who my favourite is (it's either Donna or Rose, or Kylie Minogue if we're counting her) but I really disliked Amy towards the end of her and Rory's run.

Its definitely Rose for me, but having watched The angels take Manhattan for the first time last night Im not ashamed to say I shed a tear.

I'll give you that, it was a great send off. Better than Rose's eventual send-off anyway (here's a slightly more violent and angry version of myself who can age, see ya!). As someone who likes Clara but has never really loved her as a companion, it'll be interesting to see how Moffat handles her departure.

Clara was at her most stunningly sexy in Asylum of the daleks.

My favourite is probably Rose or Donna, my least favourite is Martha. She was a great character, but I just wasn't a fan of her. I would like to see a few episodes with Capaldi on his own though. Left to his own devices so to speak.
Could you imagine him and Missy together, without Clara. It'd certainly be interesting.

I liked Martha during her season of being the companion, but most of her arc post-Series 3 isn't great. All her stuff with UNIT then randomly ending up with Mickie just didn't land for me.

On Missy, I'm not really a fan of her. In general I think The Master is best used very sparingly; I loved all his stuff in Series 3, but I wish they hadn't brought him back so soon for The End Of Time right. Similarly, I was hoping Missy would stay off air for a lot longer than it seems she will.

So he left Davros to die , he got out. So is the doctor the reason he built the Darleks ?

No idea I don't even think the writers know. I think he was just some mad kid.

Anyway how the hell did the Doctor get out of that situation to go to the last scene?

Completely forgot this was starting today. Will watch later.

Forgot this was on.

Was it any good, or is it still shit?
