Television Doctor Who

I managed to figure out the solution to the problem on this episode with about half the episode to go which is quite impressive for me but says a lot about it. Cringeworthy ending and annoyingly childish tone to what could have been an interesting plot. Next episode looks a little quicker and intense so should be better.

I just tried writing out a post to explain why I hated it so much but to be quite honest, I don't actually care enough to be bothered. Hopefully Doctor Clara leaves soon, she's become as tedious as Rose and Pond.

That ending when little girls sister comes out from nowhere? What the feck was that all about? Are the writers trying to take the piss?

I like bit where Danny needs to remind us used to be a soldier! Guys he used to be in the army you know, it's crazy!

Or how the tiger got scared off by a torch, and what happened to the wolfs?

I can pick so many things wrong but it would take me all week.

I think the writers are aiming the show at a younger audience which is why we get all these silly plot lines. I personally like Clara, she is great eye candy and.....yeah thats probably about it, but tbf thats enough for me. Danny can get lost though, totally unbalances the show. I would like the show to go back to duo of Doctor and Assistant as opposed to the trio.

Yeah, Jenna Coleman is pretty fit. It's not her acting or anything, I just hate her character, how it's been developed and how much screen time she gets, the show is all about her. I liked it when Tennant's went solo for a while, they need to do the same thing again.

I do understand that they're aiming for kids but yesterday's episode is an insult to kids, it's terrible. The acting was all over the place, the story was a joke, I mean a kid could do better.

I think my biggest problem with Pinkman is Samuel Anderson, he can't act, it's so bad. He just kills the mood whenever he's on screen, he just ruins it. I hope he dies soon, Clara gets pissed off and fecks off and they make the Doctor a bit darker.

Can't just carrying on like this.

Samuel Anderson really can't act. He is so dull and uninspiring.

My fav season was the first Smith and Pond one because of that darker tone. Really hope they take that route again.

They were saying this season would be darker... it's been anything but that.

Agreed. That is one incredibly disappointing thing about this season. Capaldi would flourish in more grittier stories due to his personality so it doesn't make sense that they are not building their style around him. As much as I like Clara and Jenna's acting, but she perhaps should take more of a back seat. Danny can go wayyyyy back.

Just me was reminded of the episode of Torchwood where the plant things took the little girl and Jack let them?

It's just annoying they have these good big storylines only at the start and end of each series, with loads of dross filler episodes in between. Presumably it will all be solved in a 45 minute episode next week. Why not just have a whole series on one big story-line?

Agreed, either go full out with a story arc or just don't do it at all.

I've not watched the whole episode yet, but this cnut better stay dead...

Excellent episode. Capaldi was superb and it's very disappointing we (most likely) won't see more of Missy after next week. I wish they developed this story further and had several episodes covering it, rather than just the last 2.

I thought the reveal was stupid, I mean really? Moffat really lacks imagination and memory "you abandoned me", feck off!

Best episode so far, really intense and gritty and it has shown different sides of the characters. Still very unsure on what was happening right at the beginning of the episode though.

It'll inevitably unravel in the next one and be all about love saving the day, but I thought it was pretty good for a Doctor Who finale ep, which are usually the silliest and least narratively competent ones.

So far, of the finales (or bits of finales) I've seen, that was the best since Matt Smith's first. Which itself was the only one I've thought was any good of the revived series.

But yeah, my money's still on the love saving the day through the power of magic bollocks. Though hopefully without a levitating wizard goblin messiah.

You are probably right mockney, considering there is cybermen roaming the streets. It will be fixed by love or magic.

Last time the master took over the whole world. That could be fun

It definitely will. But then they always do. I'm a Dr Who aplogist more than I'm a Dr Who fan. I couldn't care less about the cannon or the arcs (and often actively hate them) but I admire the format and possibilities of the show. It's the only thing doing this kind of anything-is-possible-anthology thing on this scale, besides maybe the Twiilight Zone. I encourage people of my persuasion (cool people, in case you're wondering) to watch the high concept standalone ones and ignore the silly fantasy finale shite. Because sometimes they're really good writing.

This year however is the complete opposite. I've thought all the stand alones I've seen have been terrible. Sometimes laughably so (The Moon is an Egg! Tree fairies will save the world by possessing troubled children!) But the finale arc thing has come together quite well. It helps that it's been low key, dialoguey and mysterious, rather than a big battle between magic panto nonsense and sitcom friendship (that's next week) but I like what they did with the whole afterlife thing. Well, at least I think I did. I didn't really understand it at all (Why were they in St Paul's at the end?} But I liked the idea of trying to tackle it as a Sci Fi mystery.

Glad to see my suspicions of missy were right and she is the master. last episode was good, but a few of this season have been cringe worthy and I'm quite done with the impossible possible whatever girl. New companion please, maybe someone with the same-ish dark streak as the doctor has now?

Having said that, can't wait for the finale. Very excited.

I work almost just outside St Pauls, came into work gingerly but didn't see any Cybermen. Maybe they've put on a cloaking mechanism. I guess I'll have to wait until next to find out if I live or die.

Agreed with getting a new assistant. I was fed up with Amy Pond after she 'found love'. And now they've made the same mistake with Clara (who I had high hopes for with an older doctor, ie more a paternal relationship). Danny Pink is even worse than Rose's Kidulthood boyfriend.

I wrote on this thread that if Missy turned out to The Master, then I would be done with this show. Turns out the first 4 episodes of the season were so uninteresting that I was done before it even got there.

Agree with people saying it was the best episode yet but it's not saying much. I really don't understand why they didn't have Missy on more often, her dialogue with the Doctor was great.

On the downside, the episode had too much Pinkman and his terrible acting. You just knew when he died it wasn't going to be the end of him. Think it's time for Moffat to step aside.

I liked the episode, and I'm not as negative towards this season as many on here seems to be. Though I'm sort of disappointed that after the build-up during the entire show, it was "only" those cybermen again. I was hoping for something creative.

Clara without Pink would've been interesting. But they had to involve that emotionless cnut. He might as well be a cyberman.

Missy and the Doctor were great together. There should've been much more of her in the season.

Crap episode. Moffat needs to feck off.

So the big bad threat from the Cybermen and Missy is dealt with, in what, 20 seconds?? Boring conclusion to a very disappointing season.

Pink is an emotionless cnut. His attempt to 'cry' were pathetic. His final speech was shit. Why did they kept bringing him back every 5 minutes? It was torture watching the cnut. Terrible actor, useless character. He summed up everything wrong with this season.

Missy was a very good character, but we hardly saw any of her. There needs to be a better structure to the season. We had 10 episodes and then a finale all of a sudden where the Master was revealed and promptly dealt with. It would be good if they finished the season with a cliffhanger rather than conveniently conclude everything within minutes.

Overall, this has been my least favourite season. Moffat needs to feck off and let someone else take this forward. The stories this season just didn't suit Capaldi's style, with better/darker themes I think he'll be fantastic. Also, there was too much focus on Clara and the 'crying' cnut. Less focus on the companions, more on the actual Doctor please.

very disappointed in the finale, was expecting fireworks and some big well something, not what we got.
After the stick he got , I did like it that Pink saved the world, but over all worst Doctor Who companion ever.
Not sure about Missy, parts I like and then parts that just annoyed me.
Worst series since the reboot, will have to ups its game in the next.

Not sure what to make of the Christmas one , Santa !

Really not sure what to make of that last episode. It was superb in parts but absolutely ridiculous in others.

Personally I disliked the previous season as well as the Donna Noble season, but this season stinks too. But the thing that grates me about this season more than any others is that they had 2 great lead actors in Capaldi and Coleman who from an acting point of view have been very good all season despite the story and I feel they have wasted their talent. Now that Coleman by the looks might be going, they will find it hard to replace her who for me has been one of the best companions since the reboot all those years ago and were very lucky to find her after Karen Gillan's success alongside Matt Smith.
