Television Doctor Who

Surprised at how much I enjoyed Frank Skinner's performance in that last one.

Enjoyed that episode.

I wonder if he actually managed to save everyone or just Clara? Thought that was Capaldi's best performance of the season, it does help when they have a decent story.
Considering the engineer was there I'd assume he did.

That episode was decent but nothing special, the writing has been getting worse since Matt Smith took over, some of the stories have been very really poor, Dinosaurs on a Spaceship gets a special mention. Moffat has had his run, time for him to step aside I reckon.

I'm starting to find Clara annoying, she gets way too much screen time and her relationship with the doctor is just odd. While I'm at it, I'll be happy if we never see Danny Pink again, Remi Gooding is a terrible actor.

Agreed on these 2 points.

Clara's got far too much screen time this season, although I've already speculated why I think this is.

Pink is fecking dreadful. His character is awful and I find him devoid of personality. Just seems a pointless addition to this season.

I stopped watching the reboot after series 1 apart from the odd episode but my son has watched them all. His comments on the new series were "They have tried to make the Doctor darker but they have just made him a dickhead".

I'm really not sure what the point of doctor who is at the moment.

You know, it wasn't terrible. Just pointless.

I liked that Capaldi had his "I protect this planet" moment. Also, same guy wrote this ep as the last one. Could go backwards next week.

A serialized hour of prime time family TV? There's never been a point.

And when there has, people have gone ape shit at the fact it's gotten confusing and "archy"

Who fans would be far happier accepting it's nonsense.

"Going to kill myself into these monsters."
"Or there's other thing."
"NO. SACRIFICE."
"But why?"
"dunno, lol."

10/10.

So the nondescript dimensional beings drained all the power from the tardis until they were tricked into charging it back up again by some graffiti and then some combination of the newly engorged tardis and the doctor's glowing space dildo evaporated them?

That's it right, I'm not missing anything?

In the grand scheme of things, of course you're right; there is never a point. TV is pointless and we should all go outside and do something with our lives, or read a novel.

But I disagree with your premise, nearly every show on earth has a point.

Walking Dead - Survival
Lost - "We've got to go back"
Life on Mars - Getting Back to 20XX
Sherlock - Something to do with personal growth?

Okay I'm not sure about Sherlock. Or Robin Hood. And I'm a little drunk.

But I dont get Doctor Who anymore. What's the point. What even was that episode? 2D Monsters that leap out of the fecking walls? Amazing. Awesome. Should be fecking brilliant. And you know, it wasn't too bad. That was some semi-freaky shit for a childrens show.

Except I don't get what the point is at the moment. I just don't. I can actually tell you what the point of the story of Digimon Season 1 and Season 2 was, better than I can of what the hell Doctor Who is about at the moment. Digimon Season 1 was about a group of kids taken to a digital universe where they befriend a "Digital Monster" who each turn out to be linked individually to them in some way. With their Digimon they have to battle sick digital monsters, save the Digital Universe from the evil guy who is trying to take it over, and then something about saving physical real-world Japan where I get confused. Season 2 was similar except it had new kids, and all the Digital monsters couldn't digivolve for some reason so they had to do some sort of sideways armour evolution shit. It didnt really work but whatever.

Doctor Who? He's a 2000 year old alien who goes around saving the earth from monsters in his mystery machine with his friends and a robot dog. That's not the bad part. Thats fine, I'm excited by that. Thats actually great. No problem there.

Except they've basically killed the show by making Doctor Who dark and old when he had no reason to be dark and old. This seasons overarching storyline consists of a random women saving the Doctors enemies and asking some of them questions. And Clara moaning. And the Doctor acting old. There is no personal growth for the Doctor. He hasn't actually changed the entire season. It's been a season of personal growth for Clara: She is the main character at the moment. Which is fine. Except I have literally no idea what the feck is going on. Not in a normal Doctor Who kinda way "Christ that was confusing, timey wimey worm-holes causing weeping angels to get stuck in a black hole that created the earth?" That's fine. That's a doctors who fan's bread and butter. I just have no idea.

It's always been a "monster of the week" show. Except now its a "monster of the week" show that there is literally no reason to watch. It was certainly never worth watching because it was good TV. But now it's not worth watching because it's not a show about the Doctor and his battles with Darlaks, Cybermen, Time Lords, etc. It's a show about Clara and her battle with an old friend who has changed, and her boyfriend who doesn't want them hanging out.

Needs more Capaldi actually doing something. So far he's been more of a supporting act to Clara, although I did like this week's episode.

So if in the end all the Doctor had to do to get rid of these things was just, you know, wave his sonic screwdriver at them, why not just get Clara to do that at the start, and save all the hassle?

Thats the problem with Who atm. Good ideas, just so poorly executed. There's never any proper explanations of how he defeats the monsters these days, its just, oh look the Doctor has done something clever and timey wimey and saved the day. Yay.

Like everyone's been saying, they run out of time to properly resolve the story so it's always something rubbish.

Not 100%, but I think it had more to do with the Tardis rather than the screwdriver.

So they finally done it, they made Clara the Doctor! The whole season has been like that but at least in the last episode they said it.

It's almost like they made the Doctor older the keep the older fans happy, but they know it's mostly the kids who watch so they made Clara the lead.

Yes

This sounds incredibly cold-hearted and actually horrible, but I wish they didn't have to end the episode with the missing girl being found again.

I can see how horrible that sounds - I do hate hearing about missing people in real life for what is worth. But it was just a cringey ending. Not genuine what so ever.

Was a "meh" episode on the whole.

Crap episode, dreadful season. I thought this season was meant to be a darker, less silly version of Dr Who?!

Clara and her boyfriend are annoying. The kids were annoying. Capaldi needs better stories and, I think, it would be better if he went a while without an assistant.

Awful episode.

At least next week the finale starts and we can find out what's going on with the mystery women, afterlife story line.

Wow, that was shocking. Not only the worst Doctor Who episode, one of the worst things I have ever watched. Thought I was watching the CBBC.

The guy who wrote this episode should never write anything ever again.
