Television Doctor Who

I just finished this series last night and there are quite a few mediocre episodes, though non so bad that I just completely skipped them like the Peter Kay episode in series 2.

Though I have to ask what the hell is up with ending to the series finale? The show throws up a few bits of crap every now and then that I'm willing to overlook but you get essentially a 3 episode arc with some great twists, a far more interesting villain then anything I've seen so far and the whole thing gets resolved by everyone praying the doctor into magic floating Jesus. Almost ruined the entire thing for me.
I have just watched that one, the ending is just beyond stupid even for Dr Who.

just finishing season 4 now, think this is my fav one , some cracking EP's in it, the last 2 are excellent.

Just finished it too and the writing has probably been the strongest so far. Looking back over the episodes and there are so many strong ones yet getting towards the end I was lagging a bit, waiting to get the season over with. Probably because the last couple before the final two were poor that I skipped them and then the darleks turned up, again. I just can't take them seriously as a threat. Perhaps if they didn't look so bloody ridiculous I could get on board with them as these monsters that only hate but they just seem ridiculous and it's not helped with their storylines generally being so poor.

"He dresses in black, doesn't flirt, speaks with a Scottish accent, and is, well, a bit of a jerk. Peter Capaldi's incarnation of Doctor Who is the darkest yet."

We're getting an angry doctor!!!

The Darleks have been done to many times now, just how many time can you wipe them out.
I liked Midnight one of the better EPs I thought.
The last 2 with all the companions and Torchwood were excellent, I have a bit of a thing for Gwen, something about her, I find very attractive.

Looking forward to the return tomorrow.

I reckon Capaldi will make a very good Doctor. Quite keen to see how he and Coleman work, I though she and Matt Smith worked well. We've not had a great age difference between the Dr & companion since the reboot (in reality, not the Doctor's age) so will be interesting to see how this goes.

The story wasn't the best but I liked Capaldi, thought he was very good and he worked well with Clara.

Good reference to Amy

Decent first episode.

Thought that Matt Smith telephone scene was good. I love when stuff like that happens in Doctor Who. Last season we saw Clara walk towards the Tardis with the phone hanging out, and I'm sure most of us, if not all of us, didn't think anything of it.

I like Capaldi's new thing.

Didn't like it to begin with, but as the episode progressed I started to enjoy it more and more. Capaldi has my every confidence that he'll make a good Doctor now.

I thought it was brilliant. Capaldi was great, and there was some good dialogue and plots developing (why did he choose that face, referencing the fact Capaldi has appeared as another character, whats the link to the Madame de Pompadour episode, and who is that woman at the end!?)

After a slow start, I really enjoyed that, Capaldi has the potential to be a very good Doctor.
I also liked the Matt Smith phone call, just the sort of thing his Doctor would do, I thought it fitted in very nice.
The link with the Madame De Pompadour was the mechanical men, they were the same robots in this and The Girl in the Fireplace.
The women at the end has me puzzled, she said did my boyfriend kill you? That would be something River would say, that women cant be her can it?
Just one grip for the rest of the season, THE DARLEKS, how many time can they bring them back and kill them off, been done to death now, just leave them now.
Over all a solid start, with room for improvement.

But why would he make that phone call? How he know she won't like him anymore? How does he know that particular time would be really convenient? It doesn't make sense damnit.

Doesn't the Dalek thing have to do with them having to use them once a season or they'll lose the ability to?

It wasn't great but it was good enough. I like Capaldi and I liked that they went down the john pertwee route having him come back wrong and have the other doctors personalities still present.

I think it was always going to take more effort establishing Capaldi as the new doctor because of how much of a drastic change it is.

The episode missed the story arch that Matt Smiths first episode did, it was a little all over the place, including the random ending.

Why would they lose the ability to use the Daleks? They probably just do it because Dalek toys sell. Same with Cybermen. It's all just one big fecking advert.
Because of some conflict with the estate of the creator

Yeah I had no idea what that ending was about by the way. Forgot to mention that in my post.

We've never seen that woman before right?

Decent episode, better than last week.

Interesting how he said 'he was dead already, I was saving us' and how he wasn't too concerned with death or dying at all. He seemed nonchalant about the Dalek going on the extermination spree and add to that his general hatred for the Daleks, it suggests the Doctor is willing and more prone to kill without regret.

I liked the 'top layer if you want to say a few words' remark  I'm enjoying Capaldi so far.

I wonder what/who 'Missy' & 'Heaven' are?

As far as I can tell she's collecting people who died for the doctor. I'm guessing it's going to lead to her showing them to the Doctor so he can cry about it. Bit like when that Dalek dude went on a rant about people sacrificing themselves for him.

Missy looks very much like that woman that stole Amy's baby (River).

Disappointing that the trailer dialogue was explained and it wasn't Davros after all.

Just saw the premiere. Thought the episode itself was boring but Capaldi as The Doctor is a great casting choice, as I thought it would be.

One thing in particular that I don't like is the way the show is making out that this incarnation of The Doctor is more "true" to his own nature than the previous ones, and how his "young face" was a sort of mask. If his actual age is over 2000, what's the difference between looking 55 or 25? Either make it look like he's 2000 or shut the feck up Moffat.

Also if this Missy chick is The Master then I'm checking out. I almost did actually before Capaldi's casting interested me enough to start watching again.

It's been particularly underwhelming. Not that I've ever been overwhelmed by Doctor Who, or whelmed for that matter. It just is. Frankly I think I preferred it when it was a silly kid's programme as opposed to what it is at the moment, trying to be clever and taking itself ridiculously seriously. Its primary antagonist has a fecking plunger for a weapon for crying out loud.

Wait, I thought I saw a preview of next episode, where The Doctor meets Robin Hood? Are there officially no more real historical people to meet and now he's gonna start having adventures with fictional people? Or has this happened before in this show?

Well from the look of the preview, him being real or not is the plot.

It may not be the plot, but having Robin Hood at all in the show is a bit strange to me. It would be like The Doctor running into Indiana Jones or something.
