Television Doctor Who

They are pretty much doing a good job of keeping it off the net. Not even a write up of the plot anywhere to be found.

Moffat and BBC promised a "special video" of the 50th anniversary episode if the finale wasn't leaked onto the net.

Who exactly are these relevant authorities? I'm not sure who I'm supposed to be sending my laptop to.

There was somewhere but I really hope that what it said isn't true, as it is an extremely disappointing ending.

The best bit of this second half of the series was when the Locutus of Borg said to the Doctor "you know your history can probably be recreated from the gaps where you erased it".. Or some better words to that effect.

Just a small quib of something interesting, and a real phenomena http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redaction

Wouldnt be hard for it to be the best bit considering, like this episode, its awful. This was actually quite good not long ago, what have they done?

The shows felt a lot more like a children's show since they changed companions IMO. Despite how hot Clara is, the shows just been a completely different tone to when it was Amy/rory, or the others before them.

I know the ending of this episode already.

The souffle will be ruined.

I liked the nod to the Slience in the Library episode, where we first meet River

I'm so confused. Have I missed something about this John Hurt chap?

That whole episode turned my mind into a timey-wimey mess.

I'm all wibbley wobbley, so you're not alone. I've probably got to watch it again to pick up on some minor details. Pretty sure we'll learn more about the link between Clara and River further on too.

But who's this John Hurt guy? And what's this Valeyard stuff he was said to be?

I don't know if this is all information from the old Dr Who series, before it came back (which I didn't watch) or stuff that has been references since Ecclestone that I've forgotten.

I think he's going to be in the Christmas episode, playing a forgotten time-war version of the Doctor.

So he's an actual actor? I thought it was the name of this new doctor chap.

My stupidity knows no bounds.

Has the present Doctor left? He is truly awful. I haven't seen Who since he became the Doc.

Matt Smith hasn't left, and he's not awful. I'd say he's probably the best Doctor of all time. He's the one who most acts like a thousand year old time-traveler.

Thank goodness that pouting piece of skirt Karen Gillan has left though

John Hurt plays..

The 9th Doctor.
He's the Doctor who destroyed the Time Lords and the Daleks to end the Time War. So Eccleston is actually the 10th regeneration, Tennant is the 11th and Smiths is the 12th.

He's either a secret kept by the Doctor or they have forgotten him due to his actions.

Easily the best episode of Doctor Who in since Eccleston? So much better than Bad Wolf too

Ahh exciting idea!

Doctor Who has been rubbish for ages, and is now instantly amazing again

The river song character is dismal.. Wish they would put it to bed for good.

Good ending though, it seems Hurt is the disgraced Time Lord's previously unseen incarnation, the one that killed all his own race to end the Time War before regenerating into Eccelston.

I liked this episode, although I think it should have been a two-part episode to greater explain things. Too many irrelevant episodes in the series and then they rush the bigger storyline.

Yeah, can't stand her. The "spoilers sweetie" before she faded away actually made me mutter "oh piss off."

Other than her, I liked the episode. The other Doctors were a nice treat for fans of the classic series, and the ending was a real shocker.

Gonna have to trawl wiki and watch that again I reckon, try piece together some sort of timeline for myself.

Oh, I also thought the poems that the Whispermen kept muttering were rubbish, but that's only a minor complaint.

In Doctor Who, all the best ideas and themes end up being anti-climatic and boring. Even going back to season one (of the current generation), Bad Wolf, Darkness will Fall, Cracks in the Universe and the Explosion of the TARDIS, have all been rushed and quite badly done.

It was possibly easier with Tennants doctor as they had less overarching themes, I think.

Why all the River Song hate?...I think she's such a good character...I've always wondered though if they had always planned her whole 'story line' out when they first introduced her, or they kinda just adapted it as they went along?

As for the episode, by far and away the best of the series, even though I'm now totally and utterly lost  Who was the 'Doctor' at the end?

What actually happened with that in the end? Did it get explained?...I seem to remember the Doctor finding pieces of the tardis but I cant remember how it was all explained. Having a total mind blank here

Enjoyed the episode, even though I'm really confused about the ending.

Clara was good. I think that's the end of River Song. I still have no clue who the GII are.

Would've been nice if we actually got to hear his real name.

So...
if he's the 9th Doctor and he's the one who killed them all, the secret is he does something bad in that time (kills them all?) that isn't part of his good guy demeanour (broke the promise?), therefore he (John Hurt) must be forgotten and that's the doctor's secret?
