I wonder if he had any thoughts at all going through hos head as fecked up pass after pass after pass right in front of the manager

I often picture in my mind this guy playing alongside Roy Keane and I can just see the veins popping out of Keanos neck as he screams at Dalot for playing another blind pass backwards and into the middle of the park. Absolute brainless at times

Has to be one of the stupidest players we've ever had.

Some of the decisions he makes on the pitch are staggeringly daft.

He's been our worst player of the season.

Watching him play is not good for my health. Whoever thought this guy could become a defender must have been high. Should've been a winger since the start of his career.

Malacia level performance - but if Malacia was slow and inaccurate with crosses, Dalot didn’t participate in attacks altogether, while losing the ball for free all the time. It’s either the position doesn’t suit him or he is severely out of form

I’m not a huge fan of Dalot.

But we have seen him perform at a decent level previously

Right now though he’s a liability.

Even when he returns to a decent level, there are players that should be ahead of him.

Still isnt aware of the space around him and his positioning and that will probably never change.

80% of his performance yesterday was like watching a drunk player. It was embarrassing. He somehow managed to improve a lot towards the end.

He was awful but to be honest he almost always is for me when I see him on the left, simply not natural in that position. I think he could be a decent wingback but on the right.

I'm hoping the drop off is because he's being asked to play on the left.

I thought he would be given a go at one of the wide centre back positions otherwise he's gonna struggle if Amiron prefers to have a better attacker as the right wing back

Too many mistakes. I think he struggles more at LB/LWB as compared to the right side. He was extremely good last year so still giving him the benefit of a few more games in the new system but he has had an awful start this year

I would like to see him tried on the right. It’s his inconsistency within games that is killing him right now. Even last night there was some really good moments and he’s incredibly tactically flexible but he has to cut it the mistakes which just weren’t present last season. I do think some of it is just the sheer number of games he’s played. Anyone saying he should be sold are taking the piss to be honest.

I think the problem with Dalot is that you can't coach him not to have those brain-dead moments. He's clearly talented and seems like a good guy, but again, you have to wonder what he's thinking sometimes.

This is worrisome. Dalo has been atrocious this season, practically making one error leading to a potential goal per match. Even yesterday, he was on a mission to gift BODO third goal. He either stops running after his player and we concede, or gives such a sloppy backpass that causes so many issues.

He’s in a bad run of form at the moment but there’s obviously a player in there, he’s shown some proper form in the past and he’s one that should clearly kick on under the new regime. Arguably our most athletic player in an era that relies on that more than ever and is a huge part of our new manager’s system.

The nightmare season continues. He had about 4-5 'wow that was really good play there' and then 5-6 'wow wtf man'.

I still think he's a solid option as RCB or RWB and I'll like to see him get a good run on that side. His athleticism and dribbling to open up the pitch is an attribute not many in the team has.

I'm surprised he's getting as much criticism as he is in this game. He did have a 10 minute period in the middle of the half where he gave the ball away a lot, but for the rest of the half he was quite good. Made a big difference when he came on, where his physicality and movement allowed us to both bring the ball out from that side better and also overload the midfield and dominate.

Lucky he didn't cost us in that bad period though so he definitely deserves some criticism. But it should be tempered with the positives as well.

I agree, and the crazy thing is Dalot's poor contributions will be forgotten and erased when he finally has a decent match. It always seems to be the case with him season after season since his break through under Rangnick. I expected Almorim to say something like this about his compatriot.

Thats not a criticism it's just reality. I felt Amorim was fair with his assessment of Rashford, but the same needs to be applied to a player like Dalot who has been really poor all season.

Because his role is a defender and he’s literally not doing his job?

He’s been poor all season and needs a stint on the bench.

Needs to be dropped for a bit.

He’s been a mess all season and is a complete liability.
Need to remember he's being played put of position and definitely does his best work on the right.

That said, there isn't really a place for him at the moment with Amad locking down the RWB role.

So, agreed. Let's get someone else on the left for now

His performance minute by minute is so erratic. Without the ball, I think he is doing decently - defends reasonably well and makes those runs. But just so bad with the ball.

I think he needs to be brought back to his natural possession and be backup.

Plays some really nice passes into the middle when he cuts inside onto his right, probably his biggest strength in this position. Otherwise he still looks shaky defensively, and good lord his final ball is absolutely dreadful. Even more so now that he's usually playing it on his left foot. Such a shame because he makes some of the most dynamic runs on the team and the ball ends up finding him quite often.

he jusrt came from being our best player last season, so we might find use for him, but for WB role, hes too bad going forward. We are pressing a lot and the game is up and down which I am not sure suits him, since he can play an absolute top pass, in one second and then lose careleseslly ball the other. But I think he will improve once he calms down and settles in the system. However think he will be used as CB as the time goes... Kyle walker style

He looks bad on the left, I think he might look better on the right but Amad is doing great as RWB and we have lo LWB so he'll continue to play there.

He has moments of brilliance that make me think there's a player there to be polished, I have faith in Amorim making a good player out of him.

I thought he was pretty good, but he does seem to make some idiotic decisions. If Amorim can iron this out it would be huge because he's one of the few top athletes and press resistant players we have in the entire squad, no matter how much he pisses some of you off with the shit crossing (seriously that one he had was god awful)

I really like Dalot but he’s not comfortable at LWB and it shows.

I must watch a different game as I thought he was he was good over all. He started shaky but tracked back well, should energy to put pressure on the opposition to help us win the ball back and tried to be progressive with the ball going forward.
All this while playing on his wrong side and adapting to new tactics in what is the probably the most demanding position in this new system.

I echo the managers sentiments in that his drive and passion are and important part on the new side he is trying to build at the minute and I’m sure his performances will reach previous levels more consistently.
