Strange game. Gave the winger a bit too much space for the first 15 minutes or so, but was good on the ball for the first half (the rest of the defence would basically just pass it sideways until it got to Dalot and he'd be the one who'd play it forward). Then in the second half he it felt like he utterly disappeared from the match and barely got involved.
Where attacks die
Strange how different people see things differently. In the first half I felt he was the only one at the back who looked comfortable receiving the ball and either taking on his man or spinning him and playing the ball forward. Didn't work every time, but most of the time it did. He was basically the outball from the defence as the others would just pass it sideways. The worst thing is how uncomfortable he looks receiving the ball in our own half. He looked absolutely terrified in the first half
That’s true. We need to try someone else at LWB next game, Dalot was inadequate to requirementsThe worst thing is how uncomfortable he looks receiving the ball in our own half. He looked absolutely terrified in the first half

Second half was more like you describe.
I've seen quite a few people say things like that, but he had the most complicated set of instructions in the squad last season under ETH. Everyone else largely stuck to the basics of their position, while Dalot was sometimes sitting back in his position, sometimes moving inside to join the midfield, sometimes helping the winger overload the wide areas, and doing all that while also being the one we relied on to use his speed to dig us out of trouble quite often when the opposition got through our relatively slow backline. He was having to make a hell of lot of decisions on the fly about exactly which he should be doing at what moments. And he was our best player over the course of that season (admittedly that was quite a low bar).I geninuely think he's a very good footballer... unfortunately he's just monumentally thick.
There are moments where he'll look quality progressing the ball forward but he can be so brain-dead at times.
