Its sad for West Ham but he's clearly far too good for them. Age is the only barrier for him, really he could do well at a top club for a couple of years but would likely cost a fair bit to make that happen so perhaps not worth it.

I don't believe for a second that he wants to go back to Marseille. He's just hoping for a big Chinese club to make a move for him so that he could get a better pay cheque.

None of the top 4 clubs in England or in the other major leagues will make a bid for a 29 year old who is set to enter his twilight years.

China it is then

I saw from the other thread regarding the French league that he has agreed terms with Marseille and Marseille will be offering wages close to what he is receiving at west ham. I am not sure if this is true. It will be pretty surprising because he should be holding out for bigger teams like PSG or Monaco if he wants to move back.

He should have asked for a move in August. I don't see any big team buying him this window. United and Chelsea are offloading players while Real Madrid are on a winning streak.

He has been called by Garcia when he took over Marseille according to most french media.

In terms of reputation Marseille is the bigger club and the others don't want him.

I absolutely back up the fans in this situation. It is obvious how sad is Bilic for the situation and I hope the club does well like today only because him. He seems a nice guy who gives all his energy for the job and deserves better.

Sir Alex said it - nevertheless how good a player is, he is never bigger than his club.

To me this is a transfer that should have happened a year ago. Now time is really ticking and his value is going down due to age. His quality is above WHU. If you're an influent player in the french national squad there's no place for you in a small club.

I hope he won't go to China. A club like us could pick him up because the only trick in the box on the right wing is Valencia. Definitely room for him in our squad on that position. Can't remember last time we had a real right winger...Early days Ronaldo?

Chelsea and Tottenham are normally open for these kind of suggestions. Chelsea don't mind age and want ready to go players. Tottenham normally buy any player that potentially could be a great player in midfield. Perhaps that policy has changed now.

A really, really, really fair and square price for him - all factors considered (age, club size, transfer request - and not the first time either!!, crazy market, China, no-1-came-asking-for-him, out of the squad) should make us land on a neat £15,5m.

It's like you're completely forgotten that Miki exists @Successful

Come on. I know Mhiki exists! What makes this comment even worse is that I'm probably his biggest fan ever on this site  To me Mhiki is a central player. I think Payet is easier to push out on a wing Jesus Navas style. Mhiki need to come through the middle.

Hug.

Have you really watched Payet play ?

Think Mata is a better player plus are we not fed up with slow players out wide?

This is the crux. We've already got a slow technical player who we're struggling to fit in at times, so why on earth would we go for another?

Martial n Mhky are the way forward. Payet isn't better than those 2, at least long term

No way we should touch this player. He is 29, carries to much weight and has motivation issues clearly, that is why he appeared out of nowhere for 15 minutes.

I can't be the only one to notice how easy he is dispossess when he is supposed to be defending?

Did you miss the part where WHU have already declined a bid for more than that?

What planet do you live on though, really?

Exactly, we've already got a porky lad who has motivation issues, why sign someone else's?

I hate West Ham, but it fairness they guy was a nobody before them.

He's used and abused them, I hope they make him suffer.

Sign all the French. Pogba, Martial, Payet, Griezzman, Evra, bring back Barthez and Cantona as well.

Seriously, though, if its all about money for him he'd be ribe of a big money move to China. He should feck off over there.

He was a french international before West Ham.

God i hate players that refuse to play for their club, there is nothing in football that i hate more. Hope his career turns to shit after this.

Do you hate Rojo? He refused to play for Sporting Lisbon before he signed for United. LVG informed the press that De Gea refused to play for United after Real Madrid bid for him last summer as well

He's been a well known talent in France for years

Why are we still raving about Carrick and Ibra (not that it's a bag thing) but scoffing at a player who still has 6/7 years on those two?? I reckon someone of that age would have one last decent 4 year contract in them at least ?

But not of the top echelon of which he's been associated with over the past year or so.

I think he reached his level at West Ham and the fact that he didn't move in the summer to a bigger club was evidence enough.

There are 2 reasons. Firstly, Payet has had a career where he has only been consistent for 3 seasons and given his fitness I doubt he has it in him to perform at the highest level for another 4 years.

Secondly, players like Ibra and Carrick are above Payet's level and they have been performing at the highest level for 10-12 seasons and have been doing so consistently so the comparison is off the mark. Don't see the same with Payet.

:lol: either English isn't your first language or you are having a laugh  in what world is a player who refuses to play for the club less than 12 months after signing a fat new contract loyal!?!

I don't see anything much wrong with the English. Either you were trying to be a rude or you are just a ******
Anyway. Let's moving on. Payet signed a new contract in February 2016, so that's way before big clubs were targeting him in summer. He stayed at West Ham because West Ham promised him a top class striker as we all know that they tried to sign Lacazette but end up with Zaza.

He has been called by Garcia when he took over Marseille according to most french media.

It means nothing though. They can't afford his current wages at West Ham let alone a pay-rise. I see this as a ploy for getting more money from West Ham or move to China.

Because why would they want to keep playing and paying a player that has made it obvious he doesn't want to be there anymore

West Ham are desperate for players in their depleted squad losing 1 that doesn't want to be there and gaining 2 more than capable players in Memphis and TFM plus cash to buy someone else Is surely a positive for them

I doubt they will accept £15m + Memphis + TFM. If Memphis is worth £15m-£20m + £15m and TFM can be loaned by any clubs for free means you are trying to say that they put £30m-£35m price on Payet who has 4 years left in his contract. Schneiderlin is £24m with 2.5 years left in his contract, is West Ham really that stupid?

How do you know that? Reports say that they offered him the same wage.

The pundits in this country are really thick. All of them are saying how West Ham put him on the map an no one knew him before he joined them. And these guys get paid?

It's a bit sad but from the UK pov, if you are not playing in the PL or in the Ballon d'or list, you are not on the map. It's very strange when you think about it, football is supposed to be a religion in England but in reality fans and pundits only know english football.
