Hes only spent two years of his life there

Exactly, West Ham is his 5th senior club, add on the years spent at Le Havre and Nantes and you can see that this lad from an Indian Ocean island doesn't really know where his "home" is. Two years is about the maximum amount of time he's spent anywhere and I think his wife is from around Nantes somewhere..

Are they still hanging on for £60m?

Hopefully they'll only get £20m or so, and then ship about £15m of that into the Brentford striker.

I will laugh.:wenger:

West ham fecked up.. Should have sold after the EC this summer.. He will stink up the place of he will not be allowed to leave..
West Ham genuinely thought they'd be challenging for Europa, if not, that 4th CL spot this season and had massive aspirations and hope. Remember their endless search for a £30m striker that they never managed to pull off? There's no way they were going to sell Payet as they believed they were on an upward trajectory with him being the catalyst.

Might be but... Still not good..

In hindsight, yes, but the money they would've got for him would be a drop in the ocean compared to the potential gains of becoming a higher bracketed PL club. As it is, they've lost out on both the mega pay day and any hope of meeting their ambition this season, which, is delightful.

So probably as I said then. OM, as is their modus operandi, turned his head with their usual barrel of bullshit and then didn't have the wherewithal to back it up. Seen it so many times with them. If it can't be done under the counter then it risks not being done at all. That's why a packet of their former directors and the like are awaiting trial on corruption and money laundering affairs.

Well this is going to be bloody awkward isn't it. As soon as he scores another 30 yard free kick they'll forget all about it mind.

He's in a bit of limbo then. Surely he'd be back in the first team sooner or later? Although, if the squad has also turned against him, it'd be a lot smarter for West Ham to just cut their losses and just sell for a lower price.

I'm almost enjoying the situation. I kind of feel sorry for Bilic but that's about it. I have little sympathy for Payet and none whatsoever for the club or fans.

 He isn't the welcome in Paris.

Anyway they've far more players than they know what to do with already. Apparently they can't find any takers for Jese...well none that can afford to pay him anyway.

Heard his wife done a runner back to Marseilles and took their kid too, which is why he wants to go back there. So maybe wasn't the club that turned his head.

Could be, don't know why she'd do that though, don't think she's from the South and is reported to be BFF with the other French wives based in England. Oh and they have 3 children I think.

AS Roma & Middeslborough are interested and ready to pay his wages and a loan fee.

The issue is the player wants to join Las Palmas that doesn't want to spend money on him (wages, loan fee).

Manchester city or Bayern have a deeper squad in quantitative terms.

He will be back in training, soon, but will no longer have the same connection with his teammates, obviously. He will be booed by his own fans the next time he takes the field, have a shitty second half to the season, and eventually be sold to OM in the summer for a lesser price than what they have offered now.

L'Equipe seem to be trying to convince their readers that OM have in fact sent in a new bid of 30 million € for Payet, that's about 26 million quid.

Marseille should disappear from bidding, say their interest is over, having completely unsettled Payet.

Then come in seriously lowball at the last minute, meaning West Ham can either accept, or basically have an unusable asset, quickly depreciating in value.

no chance, he's gone by the end of the month. Marseille are leaking to the press they are no longer pursuing him, that's pure classic transfer negogiation tactics, just trying to scare West Ham to sell him for what they want to pay

You made it sound like there was some drama there.

No drama here. Surprised that one French club - Marseille in particular -could be interested in him, and that the converse is true.

Marseille to make 4th offer for Dimitri Payet that meets West Ham’s valuation

Marseille are expected to make a fourth offer for West Ham United’s attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet in the coming hours that will meet the Hammers’ €30m valuation, allowing for a deal to finally take place, according to RMC.

The clubs are still negotiating, after a third offer from OM worth €27m was rejected last Friday.

The Hammers are demanding for €30m and talks are fully expected to have resumed today where OM are set to make a fourth offer that meets the valuation set by Bilic’s side.

Marseille know that the sequence of events that have taken place in recent weeks concerning West Ham, Bilic and Dimitri Payet ensure that the French international can conceivably never play for the Hammers again, and are looking to use that in negotiations.

It is working, West Ham set an initial price of €40m for Payet, then down to €34m, and now down to €30m.

Payet is ready to fly to Marseille as soon as possible. He is currently training with the West Ham U23s and has already given his agreement to join Marseille. His family is unhappy in London and his close ones want him to return to the South of France. From a financial perspective, all the agreements have not been finalised concerning a contract between the club and Payet, but once a deal is reached between OM and West Ham, it should not take long at all to complete.

So West Ham got £25 million

The Hammers insist they did not need to sell Payet and joint-chairman David Sullivan said he wanted the player to stay to "make an example" of him.

But Sullivan added that manager Slaven Bilic approved the sale in "the interests of squad unity".

Payet has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Ligue 1 club.

The attacking midfielder joined the Hammers from Marseille for £10.7m in June 2015 and signed a new five-and-half-year contract in February 2016.

Think they did a good job holding out. Surprised OM are paying 30 million euro but they have a new owner.

Shocked no one came in and snapped him up for £25 mil, He'd get into almost any side in the world on his day.
