feck sakes. Has he had a falling out with Fergie or something? Really surprised at this. Bring back Berba :(

We couldn't drop Rooney (because he's so precious) even if he wasn't playing well and Hernandez has bene terrific recently so that's our front two. Berba is only going to get game time in a 442 because he's clearly not a lone striker and at the moment the front two is set. However Berbatov is one of the key reason's we are in a great position in the league (whether people want to admit it or not) and I'm confident that he will be utilised in the run-in.

Im surprised any of you want to see the Roon-Hernandez partnership be broken up.

And the reason why Rooney is so precious is because he is our best player. And even when he has a bad game can produce (City Overhead kick)

If given a choice, Berbatov - Hernandez partnership all the way.

But don't worry guys. Berba is a pro and a team player. He will understand his situation he's in.

Berbatov was in form before SAF started playing Rooney each time in an attempt to make him regain some form. Ultimately, Rooney would have picked up the rythm again but it's unfair to Berbatov.

Yeah because the Rooney Hernandez combo really sucks

He'll go back to Spurs with some cash with Modric heading this way

berba was at one time our in form striker - didn't stop Fergie from dropping/resting him though.
This reminds me of Ruud's latter days

Hernandez' consistent form in away matches is what is getting him picked I reckon. That and a blossoming partnership with Rooney.

Why break it? Both players are playing the best they've played this season.

really thought berba was going to start today given it is a prem game at home and we just had a midweek european game. quite surprised to be honest. also given that he's retired from interational football, he is getting quite the rest.

Vidic is arguably the best cb in the world, Rooney isn't even in the top three strikers in the world.

On form he is, besides I don't think center backs are of such high quality anymore. Vidic is streets ahead of anyone. Pique etc are vastly overrated.

A little ironic how Berbatov was perhaps undeservedly started ahead of Tevez and Owen in the previous two seasons when he wasn't in the best form and when he finally proves his worth gets dropped.

I still think its more to ensure hes freash and rested for the run-in, we have a lot of big games coming up, he'll get his chance.

20 premier league goals, several of them absolutely huge. Berbaflop my arse.

fecking huge goal, thanks Berbatov. But up to then he barely got a kick of the ball if truth be told

Was shocked to see Hernadez go off But I dont care what an important result

Great that he finally got a goal off the bench, makes him more useful in the squad game. Now who has the stats? Is that his first goal off the bench for United? I think it is.

I also think I heard a commentator earlier in the season say that he only got 1 off the bench for Spurs too. Might have been bad information

Regardless, we're much better off when we can rely on any of our strikers on the bench to come on and score goals. Hernandez has proven he can do it, Owen has done it too and now Berbatov

But, But he only scores unimportant goals.

Berbalegend

I was furious with him when he missed that chance when clean through but he more than made up for it :D

Took his opportunity well and he's reminded us that we have 3 strikers in form.

It's rare to see him be a matchwinner from the bench, but what a crucial goal that was! Hopefully he get's more goals and finishes as the Premier League top scorer.

Fantastic for Dimitar, really pleased for him (and us of course). I still feel we're far more dangerous with Hernandez up front though; otherwise we lack truly threatening pace & don't look that likely to score.

Was his Charity Shield goal off the bench?

He should have started today, I was surprised he didn't given it was a home fixture.

Goal aside, our second half team performance was vastly superior to our first. Coincidence?

I think Berbatov brought a small element of control to our attack - the ball was a little less likely to come back when we got up there. There wasn't much in it though, I think any benefit we saw was just counteracting midfield issues. Delighted that he was the one following in the rebound, though.

Also down to the energy levels. Bolton were visibly tiring in the second half, allowing us more width, they couldn't keep up the pace they started.
