Cool goal. There was a moment where I thought he should have played it to Chicha but tbh he did well. When we needed to keep the ball he was ideal

beautiful goal, the whole ran towards him to celebrate, a great show of unity and team spirit

Aye, I liked that. They had tired legs and were nearly gassed, but they all raced to him for that celebration.

Looked like he needed that goal, and it was a beautiful finish.

He's just given a quality interview to SSN

Came across very very well

He wasnt that good, but he took his goal very well and hopefully scoring against the double winners will give him a lot of confidence.

Agreed. That interview really gave you a sense of what type of a person he is. Massive team player, modest and is showing good ambition.

Hope he carries on like this!

Does it hurt to just say, Berbatov done well without having to add a negative slant to it.

This place is truly and well fecked up...

Why? I agree with him and I'm not a Berba-basher, I'm a fan. He was awful at retaining the ball and kept surrendering possesion cheaply near the half-way line when he had options for an easy pass.

He wasn't awful by any stretch, but he has played far better for us than today - although it was a cracking goal.

The goal glosses over a performance that was a mixed bag on two occassions he was sloppy in possession and lost the ball and Chelsea had two good efforts. Goal was superbly taken and killed the game. Can only help his confidence.

It wouldnt be honest.

He hung onto the ball for too long which is one of his usual traits. I give him credit for the finish which was excellently taken and hope he gains a lot of confidence so we see better performances from him. But there's absolutely no need for me to go over the top or discount the rest of his play because he scored a good goal.

He was better than Owen.

Maybe, but you can talk!

I hope the arrival of Hernandez might help - the attention and the expectation is likely to transfer to him now (unfairly maybe, but it will), so maybe Berba will feel less pressure.

Well I agree that he has played far better for us, but saying that his performance was "poor" and "same old" is just pathetic. Although he has lost the ball a few times, he has also managed to link up well with Chicharito and was there when it mattered.
I am not against pointing out his flaws, I am against exaggerating things.

Really hope he preforms this year. Fantastic player and a joy to watch when he is at his best.

I think that's because Berbatov has to do both. If he doesn't impress generally but score, people are unhappy. If he scores but plays unimpressively, people are unhappy too. Berbatov is thought to score too little, and especially against "big" teams. Today he did, although in a pre-season game. So when the "huzzah for Berbatov"s are met with "meh", I'll have to side with the former.

This is Berba first goal after coming on as sub - what took Berba 2 years only took Chico 31 minutes.

What a super goal.

That's what we want to see more of. The right mentality Dimitri, you have the game. (I know he's here)

Berba
Excellent play this pre-season, I just hope he kicks-in and continues this season...and if he does, he'll be extremely important. He seems a different player with a different attitute even too so far, and long may it continue

I would love nothing better than for Berbatov to prove me wrong this season. Wonderful goal - and a very encouraging start to the season.

That's the thing with him. A player like him can either be a huge boost to the team or someone who can actually drag you down (well that's going a little too far but you know what I mean). Hopefully it's 3rd time lucky for him, and its the former rather than the latter.
