Television Dexter

I'm reading reports it was leaked to youtube, who have now done the decent thing and removed it, the twats.

All plot details and comments in spoiler tags please.

And by please I mean ...................

I'm staying out of this thread til after the finale now.

If anyone wants to stream it live tomorrow, PM me, I have a pretty good link that's been working for me, for the whole season so far.

Its starts @ 9 pm EST, 2 am for you lot in England.

So it starts in about one hour? Should be out on the torrent sites in about 2-3 hours then, I suppose. I'll just keep working with my exam preparations until then!

Does anyone have a stream? Ginger11 isn't online and a lad from the newbies is after one.

Season 5 finale spoilers:

I guess that was alright, kind of disappointing if you really thing about. A contrast from the first episode, where everything is sad and gloomy after Rita's death, to the ending; Harrison's birthday party.

Kind of knew what Debra was going to do, as soon as she spoke. And I am disappointed in how Dexter let Quinn off, it will raise Quinn's already known suspicions of Dexter, but you could tell he did it for Deb, as a result both of them ended up doing each other a favour.

Interesting to see what they do for next season, without Lumen and Deb still un-knowledgeable of Dexter escapades.

And  at Masuka's date.

Agreed. Thought it was a solidly good finale but nothing really more (which is a compliment to the amazingly high standards of the show).

Saying that however, I thought it was a great season. I love this show.

The only thing that was predictable was that she would leave, otherwise it was a phenomenal season finale...never a happy ending for dexter, the monster inside of him will never be accepted, it was agonizing to see him get so close to some kind of humanity and have it ripped away again. Fantastic show

My thoughts on the finale:

Pretty disappointed to be honest. I was begging for them to pull away the curtain and let Deb find out about Dexter, and I think a lot of the disappointment I'm feeling right now comes from that. It feels like they've spent the entire season prepping Deb for it, and then they just copped out in the end.

For me there's almost no excitement about what happens next season. The only thing even remotely interesting is how the Dexter and Quinn relationship evolves from here, and how (if they EVER get to it) Deb finds out about and reacts to Dexter's dark passenger. Quinn obviously knows Dex killed Liddy at this point, but judging from the latest episodes he's so head over heels for Deb at this point that he'll just let it slide.

I also expected Lumen to leave, but I thought the way it happened was far too quick and underwhelming. Personally I would have liked to see them keep her on, but I understand that she was a plot device for Dexter to save someone to deal with Rita's death etc. I just think they invested too much in her character to cut her off so abruptly, and if that was the only point of her character they could have done it in fewer episodes and not as the main plot of the season.

Overall it's been a pretty decent season all things considered, but compared to the fourth I've found it quite disappointing, and the finale in particular. I'll keep watching though, that's for sure!

I was not prepared for any shit emotional stuff like season 4's ending so I kept my emotions in check the whole time.

Was a mediocre finale really, so much of this season was built on a great finale that it's kinda hurt the terrific 11 eps prior to it. Jordan looked like an absolute bitch in his death, catches them both with good planning, then randomly forgets to check him properly and tie him up tightly? Yeah no thx. Then neither of Deb/Quinn finding out the secret in the episode was lame, they'll find out together in s6 obviously, but thats no different to where we've been before....Quinn suspected him this year, and Deb always been close but too stupid to put it together. Could of been so much better :/

Everything was just way too conveniently tied up for my liking, like some hallmark drama or something, nice typical ending garbage.

Huh, The show aired like 5 hours ago, why would you be in here if you haven't watched it? Maybe that'll teach you I assume, but sorry I guess, though it's not my fault.

Zen, can you please put your your quote in spoilers, I know people shouldn't come into this thread if they haven't watched it yet, but many people haven't gotten this far in the show, ie. They just started watching.

Thanks.

I think the additional season after the next one, might be the reason why deb didn't find out.

I'm infracting anyone who can't follow simple rules in these threads.

Zen will be the first for not following them, and then refusing when asked.

And yes, it is your fault. We can't all watch episodes at the exact same time, we are from different countries!

Its was a good season finale, but not great. I thought it was pretty obvious that lumen was either going to get killed or to leave, as i couldnt really see what they would do with her next season. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if deb would have found out about dexter, and it would have been good to set up the next season, in a cliffhanger like moment

No ones asking anyone to watch the show at the same time, people will know the finale was on, regardless of if they watch it on British, Australian or American TV, and yet they'd happily walk into a thread discussing it? That's asking for it more than going on the wiki page a day after it aired. And when Wibble said that, he was clearly talking about the rumoured leaked version which meant people could of spoiled it PRIOR to it airing anywhere when people would of though they'd still be safe to speculate about it and stuff.

But thanks for future reference anyway.

Rather than all the blah blah blah just use the spoiler facility.

If you don't you will be banned from this section.

Was he? You're barking up the wrong tree, pal.

This isn't wikipedia, and we've always been spoiler sensitive because of the international nature of the site.

I'm really disappointed by the finale.
I thought Jordan Chase's kill was too brief.I'm really sick of the idea of Dexter always getting away with it.It's not believable the way Debra just let Lumen and Dexter go.
I really hoped some big changes would occur in this series but at the end it's same old same old.
Batista and Laguerta (the most pointless couple) are back together, Quinn and Deb are back together and Dexter is alone again. No one knows about him being who he really is, I'm sick of it.Some changes were desperately needed, something major like Rita dying in the finale of last season.I kept expecting something brutal to happen only to be left completely disappointed by the end

No. I was clearly saying to put plot comments in spoilers. Many posters hold off watching until all episodes have aired to avoid the hideous wait between episodes. So please be polite and use the spoiler tags.

And by please ......

Many of us come by to see the general feedback on episodes before watching them because the caf has been great with spoilers since the tags were introduced. If you have something to discuss regarding the show, do it within the tags. Everyone follows them, so just play along, won't you?

A good episode and a solid season, but an underwhelming finale.
Debra letting them go was obvious, but it would've been brilliant if she found out that Lumen was 'no. 13' rather than just letting both Lumen & Dexter go. Dexter tampering with the blood was always going to happen considering Debra did Dex a favour.

The ending this season probably hurts Dexter more than when Rita died. That time he showed almost zero emotion until he beat the guy to death in the toilet (episode 1 this season) but here he was visibly broken/upset. I thought they could've kept Lumen for another season, would've been nice for Dexter to have a partner who knows his secret.

I hope next season Quinn/Debra finds out about Dexter. Quinn already has his suspicions, but I hope he and Dexter don't become best friends as a result of Dexter's favour.

To be honest I think another shocking finale was never going to happen. You could see a lot of it coming but I went into this season expecting it to be solid but not as good as 4, which was pretty improbable. It met my expectations which is why I think I'm not disappointed. Gutted for Dexter, finally having someone in his life he can share with and then she's gone.

yes, very sad, he was truly devastated
I think season 4 has spoilt us though

Loved this season, the finale however was a bit of a let-down for me.

Quite disappointed Lumen had to leave even though it was expected. Her and Dex' relationship was brilliant in my eyes, the chemistry and the way he finally found someone to share his darkness with made this season.

I'm currently struggling to see where they'll go from here.
We've now had Dexter's best possible villain in Arthur Mitchell and his best possible love interest in Lumen. Any character they'll introduce from here is going to struggle when compared with those two, I reckon.

Then again, I know not everyone shares my opinion of Lumen.
