Television Dexter

True, it's a funny one though, because I still enjoy the show more than most on telly, but I guess I've just come to expect such a high standard of it that this season just hasn't lived up to.

Then again, how the feck can you possibly follow up a season like season 4?

I think that's the problem, Lithgow was so amazing, and the storyline so well written, that this season never stood a chance ( that said, it's still a great season )

Finished season 3 finally. And it was definitely better than the second.
And i finished the first episode of season 4. But unlike any other season, this story has set the tone from the word go. looks like an impressive storyline.

"It's already over."

Almost done Season 1. Indisputably, the best show on television. I am enjoying this even more than True Blood.

I thought Rafa Benitez did a fine job of playing Angel.

Great once again, Liddy is feckin awesome but he's a dead man, didnt like the ending, personally think Deb will find out about dexter.

Can someone explain the Chase and Emily Birch scene?, I missed the beginning of it.

Agree with that mate.

Btw...I also missed the beginning of that scene :D

Jordan is working with Emily, they have some weird sick feck relationship going on where she is his 'special' girl. He told her to tell Lumen everything, the full nature of their relationship hasn't been revealed but it's twisted in true dexter fashion :D Fantastic episode, I wasn't liking the ened till Michael C Hall pulled off another oscar worthy moment, he displayed everything that moment meant to Dexter effortlessly.

For the first time it seems Dexter has finally found a kindred spirit. The Rita bandwagon will be up in arms, but we all know that there was no real connection there

another good episode, its a pity there is only 2 to go

and judging from the preview of next weeks episode it looks like it is going to good as well

Great episode from start to end, no useless subplots.Everything was about the main story and that's why I thought it was great.
I like the Jordan Chase character

edit:
I just remembered something that bothered me.The part about Liddy forging documents and acquiring the equipments. All of a sudden the entire station is empty ?? That lady gives him the stuff just like that ? What was the point of having Dexter in that situation too ?

Another brilliant episode.
Last season was terrific, but I actually think I enjoy this one just as much. I love the relationship between Dexter and Lumen - so much better for the series than the 'hiding in the shadows always having to lie'-relationship he had with Rita.

Unfortunately I can't see this ending well for them as a couple, I reckon something's going to happen in the last two episodes that's going result in Lumen for whatever reason not featuring in the next season. I'm guessing Deb will figure out that Lumen is the vigilante and thus she has to leave. Probably after some stand-off where Deb lets her flea.

It's becomming more and more difficult not to watch the pewviews.

Also, they've done an amazing job at making Julia Stiles gradually more and more beautiful from episode to episode. The early portrayal of her as a rape victim was very convincing and the transformation has been quite amazing. She's lovely.

Where was the kill room exactly? Did they move the banker from his home?

There are 3 more episodes, not 2. This was the 10th right? So 3 more to 13.

Don't want the season to finish :(

Liddy is as good as dead. Nobody can know that much about Dexter and live, except Lumen. I was hoping we'd see some boobs at the end, that was their opportunity to do it, which means there probably won't be in the last two episodes,

I think Lumen will be found out by Deb, which will result in one of two things. Lumen will get arrested, and Dexter will be able to do nothing about it as he can't just turn himself in too. Or Deb will let her go in some sort of one on one stand off like Top mentioned above. She's already said she would be thinking like the vigilante, and she didn't feel bad after killing the Fuentes brother, so it seems in her characters direction to let Lumen go, sympathizing and even empathizing with her. Could even lead to her finding out about Dexter being ok with it (well not ok, but not as bad as she would have been)

Lumen cant know this much either and get this involved, without dying or at least going down for the murders. And then Dexter would be forced to kill her or get her to kill herself to tie up loose ends. There was a small window of oppertunity for her to survive until the end of the previous episode but now shes a gonner

Fantastic episode.
Debs and Quinn will soon know everything about Dexter!

If all the perps have their own set of trophies from their victims, what would we find at Dan the dentist's house? With Boyd having the hair locks, Cole having the DVDs and Alex having the pieces of jewellery, I wonder what Dan's taken.

And maybe even Jordan, but I don't think he'd be interested in the material trophies of the victims other than the first one.

Great episode.
Debra & Quinn are closing in on Lumen and Dexter. Liddy's dead, but I wonder if he'll show the tapes of Dexter & Lumen to LaGuerta before he is taken care of.

I think Debra will find out about Dexter being the vigilante, but I don't think she'll find out the true extent of his activities. I also still think she'll kill either Liddy or Quinn to protect Dexter.

I don't think they'd kill Lumen off so soon, maybe in the next series but I can't see them killing off another of Dexter's love interests, plus the story of Dexter finally finding a real partner (both for human dexter & monster dexter) is interesting and can be explored further.

By the way, although there are still 2 episodes left, what was the point of spending about 6-7 episodes having the police department & Debra chase the 2 brothers who were chopping peoples heads off? Unless, that is to set-up the finale where Debra realises she can kill people without feeling remorse (like Dexter), it's a pointless storyline.
Are they going to show the last 2 episodes as a double-episode next week or will it be the usual 1 episode?

Teeth maybe:p

Ok, can someone explain to me why the kill room wasn't in the house? It seems a bit too convenient. Superb episode otherwise.

purely so Debra and Quinn didn't find them, only for the viewers to think they would be found - i know I did.
Brilliant episode - bringing Lumen in and watching the relationship grow between them is excellent. When Dex gave her the gloves, it was almost pathetic the way he was watching her try them on and wanted her to love them. I just hope nothing happens to her, as I really like her - I never liked Rita, too whiny. Lumens' far more interesting

Best episode of the season so far, however, and not to be a moaning myrtle again...

There were plot holes galore, it's just getting silly now.

Jordan Chase just sitting outside the house as Dexter and Lumen go in? When in the past would Dexter ever not notice this?
Robocop, who is suspended, can just walk into a completely empty police office and look at files, and then get all this stuff for his stakeout from the files desk, the writers would never let this sort of thing happen in previous seasons.

The story of the 2 brothers seems pointless now, exactly what purpos did it serve other than for Debra to shoot a guy, then get suspended and now all of a sudden at the drop of a hat she's back in the force again. There's been no mention of the little cop she was working with since then at all. That plot was just pure crappy filler really. Never had me interested.

Julia Stiles still grates me, I thought the part with her killing the guy was very cringey, she can't act for shit and there's no real chemistry with her and Dexter.

And this whole "Uh oh, incriminating evidence, I better swap that for something else, or delete that, or point them in the wrong direction" stuff from Dexter is getting so tedious now, it's been done a bazillion times before and he's never been suspected. That bit where he swaps the DVD was pure madness in all honesty.

I still really like the show, but it's rapidly running out of steam, I hope the next season is the last.

I mentioned that part in my previous post too  .I was like "wtf, no way"

Agreed. In many ways Lumen is the opposite of Lithgow's character and it works perfectly this season. I've really enjoyed it thus far frankly :)

I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed the season, I have. Dexter is still far better than most shows on TV, but it disappoints me that they've so many plot holes and silliness for the sake of progressing the plot and filling up time this season, something that they didn't really have in past seasons at all.

I think Lumen is a well written character, it's Julia Stiles acting that I don't like.

I loved that scene too but I saw it more akin to a normal person giving his lover sexy underwear. The kill is like a sexual release almost for Dexter so the preperation is like foreplay and the gloves in turn are there to turn him on just like stockings or high heels...or a lacy bra....or... sorry sidetracked there, Dexter is building a murder/sexual fantasy out of Lumen.

Didn't really see anything wrong with Dexter not seeing Jordan Chase, he's made mistakes before, he had the added pressure of worrying about Lumen and it just looked better than having Chase hiding in the bushes.

Liddy in the office was very convenient but I suppose there must be times when it is left like that and he is a friend of Quinn's so had the excuse of visiting but yeah that did seem too convenient.

You don't see the importance of Deb killing someone and not feeling anything? I'd say that is a big character progression brought on by that story arc, not to mention the Angel/LaGuerta angle to it.

I think Julia Stiles has been quite good but each to their own on that one.

Thought it was a wonderful episode myself, and I've really enjoyed the season so far.

Dexter being smart, contrary to everyone claiming he's making too many mistakes this season. In previous seasons he often said how the best kill rooms were out of the way, in abandoned places, etc.

No I understand the stuff with Deb completely, it's the fact that they added a massive, almost entirely irrelevant plotline to the story in order to do something which could've been done in one episode. The La Guerta/Angel stuff is irrelevant to me, that storyline has bored me shitless ever since it started.

It reminded me of an overly enthusiastic father giving his young child a birthday present. It was hilarious.
