Television Dexter

Thought it was great, the slowness was needed, definitely could not rush through the aftermath. Glad Dexter finally let out his emotions, or whatever what burst of rage in the bathroom was, he's a great actor.

Agreed.

Well I was welling up for most of it.
Liked the way the phone call memory ended with them saying goodbye to each other, then you don't see her again in the episode.

This was a really good opener to the season, the bit that liked the best though had me laughing strangely, which is something I've not done at all in any season of Dexter.

The scene in the funeral home was both excellently played, but very funny. With nods to SFU, which of course Michael C Hall appeared in, even down to the point of the Kleenex.

The bit that made me laugh, kind of

Dexter telling the kids that Rita was dead while wearing a Mickey Mouse hat

i didn't think it was necessarily slow, in fact it flew for me as i thought the acting was so good.

i did read once that " six feet under " was the best series ever, but i can't think of any better than dexter tbh.

it's simply superb

Yeah I agree.

I think it was perfectly paced in order to let you see Dexter's emotional response and subsequent behaviour to Rita's death. It also of course allowed for the tension to build towards what his reaction would eventually be and revealed that he really developed a 'normal' love for Rita and the kids despite him initially in the series believing and post-rita convincing himself that he wasn't connected to others.

my other thoughts:
hope dexter kills quinn
sneaky suspicion laguerta may be up the duff
the moussaka 'imagined her naked' line was fantastic
as was the mickey mouse hat

So glad to have it back, most shows on tv once a season finishes I don't really care until it gets close to coming on again as life distracts me, but I've actually missed my Dexter fix.

Two different shows, the only common denominator is Micheal C Hall, both very, very good. However, I've yet to sit down and rewatch Dexter back to back, from season 1 till now. I don't think they follow quite like SFU. I doubt that Dexter will have an ending quite like SFU, which is the greatest ever ending to any series, no matter how many times I watch that on it's own, on youtube or on dvd, I end up in tears.

I'm still only mid way through series 2 of SFU, it can be very slow at times. I know once I find some spare time and commit to it that eventually I'll be hooked, because it's fantastic.

Great episode of Dexter, just a few things:

I really hope they don't make Quinn being after Dexter the main plotline for the series. It was always done in S2 with Doakes, and he was a far better character than Quinn, who is a bit shit really. Then again, for the first few episodes of S4 I thought the Trinity thing was a bit of a crap plotline, but once the whole 'family man' thing came into it it was just amazing. So here's hoping.

Hopefully the La Guerta and Angel thing won't be too heavy this season, it was the only bad point of season 4.

I don't know where I've been for the last few years but I finally sat down and watch the Pilot and then watched another 2 episodes in one sitting as I enjoyed it that much!

I've got a lot of catching up to do :)

Brilliant episode, felt quite emotional throughout it, can't wait to see how it unfolds.

Funnily enough, I've only watched 2 episodes of SFU wen it first aired and hated it (I was pretty young though). But a year or two back I started youtubing to prove that Adele (the singer) had stolen a song from another artist. I found the song (Sia - Breathe me) and was surprised to see it was used for the ending of SFU. So I sat down and watched the 9min clip on youtube and feckin ell, i've not watched the show at all but it still had me choked.

Eager to watch the next episode of Dexter, can someone use the fast forward button to get to Sunday please :)

Started Dexter for the first time last night. Enjoying it so far. Lacks a bit of something though. Promising

Does not lack anything if you have been following the show. This episode is just perfect and sets the tone nicely from the previous season

I think he may mean he started watching it from Season One. Not sure.

My mate at work has been on about this for a few weeks and so I figured i'd download it and see what he was on about, anyhow I'm fecking hooked. Only watched a few episodes from season 1, I'm aware there is 3 seasons, are they plans for a fourth? And do the rest of the seasons carry on been as good?

My wife bought the first season from Play and we watched it for the first time the other night after reading/hearing how good it is, we're hooked!

How many seasons are there?

The 4th one just started in the UK on FX

recently got into this, and just finished every episode. Great show, season 3 was probably the weakest. All the others were good, John Lithgow plays his character to perfection in season 4. I was really surprised with it though, wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as i have, best series on TV at the moment.
