Television Dexter

If I wanted hot and tits, I'd just watch porn. When I watch TV I don't want to get incredibly annoyed by characters that it ruins my viewing, which is what she did, neither Tara/Betty come close. Kate in Lost was pretty goddamn annoying though, not so bad though.

You're never meant to like Layla though. She was always portrayed as a manipulative, obsessive character looking for her excitement fix. I wonder if people just disliked the character or the acting because i know a lot of women didn't like her because she came between Dex and Rita. So it was more an emotional reaction then anything else.

I thought she played the role well, there was something off putting about her, and the way she maneuvered the situation to fit her agenda. I thought it was an interesting portrayal of a female sociopath (something we don't see too often in extended roles on TV). Jamie Murray isn't the greatest actress in the world but she did well enough for me given her talent. Personally didn't find her annoying. In fact, I quite enjoyed that she took Dexter to a new place in the initial few episodes. It was a nice break from homely dexter which was getting a bit stale...he had to explore the darker side to reinforce just how important having that stability of Rita and the kids was for his own development.

Oh dear, she was atrocious in Deadwood as well; both, character wise, and acting wise. She's the reason I've not watched a single episode for more than a week now.

Pfft...she had such a peripheral role in deadwood. It almost didn't matter to me that she was present. That show for me was all about Al Swearengen and McShane stealing every scene he was in. Powers Boothe (Cy Tolliver) and EB Farnum were the other characters that more then made up for any of the other annoying characters.

(personally, I found Calamity Jane far more irritating - even though i recognize this was probably intentional)

Women are such easy characters to hate in TV shows. I hate almost all women in all shows.
Leila, Rita and Deb in Dexter
Bloody Cheerleader(Claire) in Heroes
Kate in Lost
Skyler in Breaking Bad
The wife in The Shield and also the woman who rats on him.
Sarah in Prison Break (very annoying after season 1)
There are more that I just can't remember now.

Oh and I read on the last page Skyler is in Deadwood? :(

You might just be a misogynist, or something worse....

Watch Queer eye for the straight guy. If you find yourself smiling, and laughing you'll know what i'm talking about.

I love Deb in Dexter, that filthy mouth of hers really turns me on. Rita is sexy too.

I disliked Debs at 1st but I think as her character changed with her romance with Lundy and Anton changed see seemed to become more likable also love her consistent use of the F word which sounds awful coming from most females in general but she pulls it off so to speak. Can't wait to see the new season.

wtf...

See, I understand if someone doesn't like swear words in general, but why be gender specific?

Sexist? Nah I'm not too keen on it coming from males either but it looks unnatural coming from females more so then males. Maybe that's just my opinion any how.

um, I didn't mean to call you sexist, it just felt like a really old fashioned view of how men and women should conduct themselves. I dunno, just made me laugh that's all. I pictured you being a lot older then perhaps some of the other poster in this forum (or one of those religious types).

I get the no swearing, i just found it odd you choose to mention it felt awful coming from women (to me it suggested you were ok with men swearing). Didn' mean it as an insult, just found it interesting you chose to declare it.

:)

Just finished season 3. With a broken hand, Dexter beats the crap out of a fecking Contra, the guy's a machine.

It better be good, I'm going to watch some on tv-shack or something.

feck sake the new TV-Shack is full of fecking pop-ups, swear it was that shitty site which gave me a virus which nearly destroyed my computer a while ago.

Seriously it's brilliant TV. So many people on this site are divided by so many things but I think this is the only thing everyone agrees on.

Okay, I watched the very first episode.

That's fecking amazing and usually I'm not a fan of that type of show, but he's an amazing character.

I shall enjoy catching up to this!

What else should I watch?!

Glad you enjoyed it. I'd say just blitz through that first and then have a look at what else you can watch.

How can someone mock Breaking Bad? It's fantastic!
