bet your glad we used spoilers and didn't let it slip.

Just started watching the show a couple of weeks ago and got hooked. Watched the first two seasons already and am looking forward to more body cutting entertainment.

I'd say the script, especially when it comes to Dexter's inner monologue, is absolutely brilliant.

Happened to watch True Blood right before I got to it and I must say for all the sex, violence and weirdness that Sookie and her vampire/werewolf/fae/ pack have to offer Dexter is imo a superior show, that is much more subtle and intelligent.

This is a real treat next to most of the mindless reality shows that dominate TV screens nowadays and vast majority of the stuff Hollywood churns out.

Best modern day drama on tv Ive seen by a distance

Interesting views in this thread on the merits of the specific seasons

I thought but for the English Liela retard who could not act for peanuts S2 would have been the best yet - she completely got in the way and brought that season down imo only saved by Doakes's tenacious focused half crazed pursuit of our hero

S3 has come in for some stick too but I thought the Prados were fantastic especially Jimmy Smits' crazed revenge seek on that girl lawyer.

4 flagged little for me badly in the middle (Angel and La Guearta's ridiculous romance) but of course with Lithgow acting out of his socks brilliantly creating such tension and electricity with C Hall was brilliant plus the incredible shocking ending

For me 1 4,(just) 3 and 2

But really with such incredible high standards they've all be absolutely riveting

Here's praying they end it all on a high and don't let it drop away.

I also loved 6ft Under with MC Hall too but that took a bad dive in I think the 3rd season although ended well after that

It started out with LaGuerta fancying Dexter but that dynamic just seemed to disappear.
I never understood how after he was married he had so much time to get up to his exploits. If I go shopping for 20 minutes my wife wants to know where I've been....but he's off building houses and killing people.

Great show nevertheless.

You're just whipped tbf.

He's an intriguing character isn't he? Makes you question yourself for thinking he's the Good-guy when essentially he's just as fecked up as the killers in a the sense that he tortures them etc.

fecking amazing show.

fecking amazing show.

Thats the thing I love about it, the first few seasons could be a bit scooby doo, but the best thing for me is when he's spent ages trying to figure out his personal life and make himself a better person, they then always make sure he does a particular good psycho act on his next kill. The new series promises him going really nuts.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

 welcome to december 14th 2009 Elvis.

I don't even know what to say, I did not see that one coming.
Holy crap.

feck me... That was amazing.

Wow. That is pretty much the best season of any Tv series i've ever seen. Outstanding.

Aarrrrggggghhhhh!!!!

feck me that was a shocker!

I suspect Trinity will have made sure Dexter is framed for that as well.

feck me that was unbelievably good!

That was ... mental

feckin hell, what an excellent season. Thought John Lithgow was excellent thruout and Michael C. Hall was just his usual best. The best series on TV at the moment without question. Roll on Season 5,

Still can't believe how they ended season 4 it's truly the only show that has kept me this shocked for so long.

Wow, simply fecking Wow!

I expect you'll really like some of the scenes with him and the cop.

Very brave by the writers, but it makes sense they took away his salvation. As for the police chief i think he does know about Dexter but isn't involved in any murder. The whole series has just had new live breathed into it, it also allows them to do another investigation around Dexter series, I once again was right though but once again got the wrong person. Simply stunning show. How it's not a huge hit and shown on British telly straight away whilst dross like Heros constantly gets aired is beyond me.

These were my actual responses to the finale, the ones you quoted were me not being able to watch it and join in the conversation.

Julia Stiles on Dexter season 5.

Not long now. 3 days.

Can't wait for this. It's 3:35 am here so time to sleep but wake up in some hours and download and watch it :D :D

A bit slow, but most of it was necessary and a good lead off for the rest of the season, loved it when he killed that guy, Dexter's becoming a proper psycho now!

I agree with GingerPrince, a bit of a slow one but necessary really. Enjoyed the killing, as Harry said it was the first human thing he'd done since Rita's death.

Also think the flashbacks to Dexter's first meeting with Rita was good. He even killed someone on their first date!

Thought it was great, the slowness was needed, definitely could not rush through the aftermath. Glad Dexter finally let out his emotions, or whatever what burst of rage in the bathroom was, he's a great actor.
