As much as I hate his theatrics (loathe them in fact) his return isn't that bad. 5 goals and 7 assists (as many as Eriksen). As far as I see, it just sort of pales in comparison to the figures he had last year.
I don't watch Spurs much so I can't comment on his all round play, which might well have been wank.

Unfortunately for him it's written in the stars that he's gonna have a shit World Cup for England and the same media that hyped him up will want to bring him down. You can just imagine him getting sent off in a match and being scapegoated for England's exit.
But, Eriksen can effect matches when not scoring and assisting goals Alli does not do that yet.

There is a big difference. Eriksen is just not goals and assists player, he is a proper playmaker. Alli if he isn't scoring goals or assists, he is not contributing much in most games.

Yeah agree with you, and he does have a reputation now, which he himself is responsible for. I hate diving and theatrics, but chances are high that in the Real Madrid v PSG game you'll see one of these every 10 minutes so this is not an Alli problem, but a football problem. Yet he is the one labelled cheating scum (or worse) and lots of people apparently want to punch him.
In my view, the real issue is that football is not doing anything to prevent diving, and as long as it's beneficial, players will continue to do it. Only way to get rid of it is to actually make it so that diving is not worth the risk, which only handing out proper punishment will do.
If the diving would be the only problem. He's got a mean streak to him, you can't deny that. When things don't go well for him, he often resorts to lunging into tackles.

Lingard and Alli are similar profile of players. Alli was much better last season in his overall play; he is young and so inconsistent. So he should not be an important figure in the England setup.

Alli does have an impact just different than Eriksen's. While Eriksen controls the tempo of the match and has a lot more of the ball than Alli, Alli's pressing of the oppositions defensive players and his movement off the ball create opportunities for others. I too get tired of the diving but he is not the only young player that has been accused of going down easy early in his career. A young CR7 was continually thought to go down easy as well as being a whiner when he was younger.
Mate, whatever Roy says, he dived and is doing it a lot. So do other players (some are worse than Dele) and the hypocrisy of other team's fans annoys me too, but Dele's diving is really pissing me off now.
I hate it when our players dive more than when the opposition do. He doesn't need to do it and I firmly believe we'd have somewhere in the region of 5 additional goals if he wasn't diving as his reputation is now completely shitful around the league, including the refs and it's reducing our ability to get legitimate penalties and even free kicks. The same thing happened with Bale. I believe was mostly scared of bad tackles after the Charlie Adam incident rather than intentionally trying to dive but it only took 2 or 3 bad incidents before refs started to give the benefit of the doubt to the tackler.
Irrespective of the disadvantage it gives us with the refs, it just drives me up the wall from a football aesthetics standpoint. We play great football, some the best in the league, and this goes against that ethos and I also believe it's the difference in his goalscoring this year compared to last that he's no longer trying to beat the defence but instead trying to lure them into contact.

On a personal point of view I do fear he may now be a soft target during the World Cup and his antics could cost England dearly.
Pochettino needs to get a grip on him for the sake of all concerned.
Diving David Platt at the moment. Can score goals and has great energy but he really has to work on developing the rest of his attacking and possession play. Will go to the WC and England will expect him to play like a 10 that he does not have the game for.

.Love that description! Though I think Ali’s a slightly better technical player, if he can learn to time a run like Platty he’ll be an effective player.
My problem is his utterly snide and cowardly nature. He’ll get exposed completely at the top level internationally as he’ll be wound-up beyond belief as well as get booked more for diving.
The first goal yesterday was expecional. He still has 12 goals this season and has definitely been playing a deeper role.

Alli was poor to start the season, but I think around our loss to Tottenham at Wembley he really started to pick it up again. He's been excellent over the last few weeks when I've watched Spurs.
Produced as much goals/assists as Hazard in their first 100 PL games.

I think Alli has been okay, despite having a worse season overall. Not as bad as some people make out though. I'm kinda tired of all this second striker talk though which is only meant to belittle his goals and assist stats. He is playing as an attacking midfielder who is free to make forward runs when in possession, and understandably so since he's really darn good at it.
I rate him very highly, and if he continues to work hard will become a top player.

Alli is an average premier league player who will be forgotten about as a top player/prospect in 3 years. He should be nowhere near the England first 11.
