Would people rather Leno than Oblak? I've no idea if Leno is a better "sweeper keeper" than Oblak, who actually I don't think is that good with the ball at his feet.

Cech for me. Solid GK with more than reliable experience in PL. Solid leader and just a good guy! Him and Valdes for 2-3 years gives us good amount of time to search and buy a good GK in the future. It's high probability if we sign Cech, he will do a VDS.

As much as I like DDG the club need to set some guidelines, keep him and let him remain on the fringes without involving him in the first team or playing any sort of football. See if Real want him after a year of inactivity, this will send a message to otherr players who think they can manipulate the club.

That's really not how football works. Sideline a player and one of the top goalkeepers in the world because he is struggling with a decision about where to play next season?

Thankfully van Gaal will have more sense.

Would like Hugo Lloris, perfect replacement for DDG if he does leave. But even so, very doubtful LVG will go out to get a goal keeper though when he's got one on a free over January window (Victor Valdes).

@Niall, where's Leno?

I'd go for Leno.

Leno wasn't given to me as one of the options, too late, soz :)

Whoever gave you those options deserves a slap on the bum for including Bravos of all people over him.

I'll add him to the assassination list.

I don't know who Bravo is, my list was here: https://www.redcafe.net/threads/new-poll-pls.405341/#post-17632974

Experienced option would be Cech, if we go with a younger option then the choice would be Leno.

Anyone suggested Fraser Forester. Only just 27, proven in the CL (and actually played incredibly for Celtic there).

He was out the latter part of last season with a broken kneecap or something, one goalkeeper returning from a massive injury should be enough.

Here's a brand new and shiny addition to the Manchester United transfer rumour mill, Spanish newspaper AS have David De Gea and Jan Oblak plastered across some of their newspaper on Saturday. The story is that Manchester United are looking at the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper to replace David De Gea. More than that, they've already started talks to sign the goalkeeper.

AS quote Oblak, almost certainly paraphrasing the Atletico star as saying "To move there must be agreement between the clubs."

The newspaper have obviously spoke to Oblak's environment and they reckon this is one rumour with genuine interest, stating Manchester United have already kicked off talks. AS say they've spoken to an intermediary working on the potential transfer who has explained that Atletico are asking for big money.

Manchester United bought De Gea from Atletico and it would be interesting if they're going back there to purchase another young and exciting goalkeeper. Oblak is only 22 years old but has shown for Atletico during his appearances this season, in the cup games, that he's very talented indeed. The Slovenian would be a replacement for De Gea who may have the potential to be as good.

AS say that reports about Hugo Lloris are wide of the mark... and it's Oblak who is the target right now.

Sounds like we're holding out for a larger fee, but this may bite us in the arse as it looks like Cech doesn't want to hang around and is happy to sign for Arsenal.

I'd say just cut our loses with de Gea and get Cech in, whatever happens we'll be paying less than half of what we receive for de Gea.

I don't want to see the scenario that Cech signs for Arsenal for 10million(ish) we sell de Gea late into July/August and are then forced to pay stupid money for a keeper not as good as Cech.

We'd look a lot more stupid doing that than just accepting the move and getting a solid replacement now.

Cech wants to stay in London and will not come to Manchester. So the scenario you so not want to see will most likely happen, only maybe we sign a gk earlier.

 ffs

Isn't Cech pretty determined to stay in London for family reasons? Not sure he is very realistic. I would be content with Oblak though.

Oblak would be my choice I think. Anyone have any idea how much he'd set us back though?

Yeah and since Arsenal seem to want him I'd say it's very likely he will remain there. I can understand his point of view to be honest, he has been at Chelsea for 11 years and his intention was probably to see out the remainder of his career with them so the least he might want right now is to remain in the same city so his family feel comfortable and don't have to move.

The simple answer is lots of people watch the PL and don't watch La Liga.
Bravo has probably been deemed as unattainable anyway although I'd still expect most people to prefer Begovic to him because he is 'PL proven'.

I still reckon getting Navas plus cash (£20m) in exchange for De Gea would be the best deal for United. There are some promising young goalies around Europe as well (Leno, the young Italian lad from Udinese, Oblak) who might be attainable as well. Lloris wouldn't really be my first choice but he'd not be a bad buy either, he is far from crap and would probably be good here.

I can't say I've seen much of Oblak, but every time I've seen him he was dodgy, I don't think he's anywhere near the level DDG and Courtois were at his age.

I don't know if our interest talk is true, but if it is no doubt we'll have to pay the release clause. I imagine that would be €30m at most, if the club thinks he's good enough that shouldn't be a problem.

How is Vanja Milinkovic doing on loan, any chance he's ready to be no.2 to Valdes?

Only seen Oblak play a couple of times but I've liked what I've seen from him.

Meanwhile, has David Ospina disappointed Arsenal so much that they have to find a new number 1 goalkeeper? Something just doesn't make sense in all of this talk of Arsenal wanting Cech. If I was Ospina, I would not be happy about all of that talk right after a solid first season following arrival in a new country.
