Another thought. If he does leave, we'd better make bloody sure we get all of that Bebe money back from Jorge Mendes, the useless tosspot.

I'd be happy with Valdes taking the number 1 spot but don't think it will even come to that.

Valdes and that Serbian kid to back him up.

The trouble is none of us know how good Valdes is any more. It would be useful for him to play a couple of the final games, but the papers would start saying de Gea's been dropped etc.

I'm surprised he hasn't had a couple of games before now just to bed him in. If de Gea got injured Valdes would have been straight in with no previous.

Ron Robert Zieler.

Current goalkeeper of Hannover, who still fight to stay in the Bundesliga. (He is conceding a lot goals this season, but that is not his fault.) He was the keeper of the german u16, u17, u18, u19 and u20. He was part of the world cup team 2014. He shouldn' be that expensive after this season and maybe for free if Hannover is going down into the second league.

Am I being dense, or did he actually play for our youth team ages ago?!

What about Neto. He seems to be doing very well at Fiorentina and he's at the end of his contract.

We already have his replacement.
This. Surely, we didn't tempt Victor to come here by offering him the chance to add Pontins Reserve League (Northern Division) title to his 6 La Ligas, 3 Champions Leagues, etc?

Would be happy enough with that. Haven't watched him in ages but has been getting rave reviews. Bit weird re-signing our own players but if it works for Chelsea...

I dont understand the love Handanovic gets on here, guy is useless at times. He is Joe Hart quality. His stats look surprisingly good, but he has so many mistakes in his game, he is not better or much younger than Valdes. I dont know how many times i watched Inter and saw Handanovic looking bad this season.

I think we should go for a keeper in his 20's, with the obvious choice Lloris. If we cant get him, Mattia Perin would be my 2nd choice. He isnt talked about much, but i think the guy is brilliant. Leno gets a lot of attention, but i think Yann Sommer was better this year. Guy had a monster season at Gladbach so far. Zieler is still a bit behind those guys if you ask me, but i havent watched Hanover much this season. I dont think we will go for him.

If DDG does leave, would like Cech over here. Proven GK and match winner. Someone who is respected and admired by all and would easily give us 6-7 years. Plus it would be easier to get him than Lloris with that bald leech at the helm at Spurs.

Not too sure about how good Valdes is after that big injury. Plus I have never been a big fan of him. Seems to have mistakes in him.

We play a high line, our goalkeepers as to play like sweeper, so no Cech.
We should go for Lloris, Leno, Valdes or Navas.

I think we should go for a young keeper with talent like what we done with De Gea. I would look at Oblak and Leno with Victor Valdes. What about Ter Andre Steigen at Barca.......Bravo has been stating ahead of him in the league games.

Ter stegen has been clear with his discontent with his role at Barca, perhaps he could be an option aswell in a not too distant future.

I think it would be Valdes.

If we do target another keeper, I reckon Lloris is more likely than Cech.
Lvg does like keepers who are comfortable with the ball at their feet and valdes / Lloris seem to fit that bill
(as we have valdes I imagine he will be our solution whilst levy will be rubbing his hands at the opportunity to overcharge psg for Lloris)

Lloris would probably cost us double what we'd get for De Gea so I really can't see us trying to get him.

I'd probably agree with your statement, though its kinda pathetic of us considering the financial resources we have at our disposal.

It's not really. Why would we pay £40m plus for a keeper who's not as good as our own? Occasionally we're going to pay over the odds for various reasons but it's not wise to keep doing it

I really dont see the big fuss in a scenario, such as getting 25mill for De Gea this summer, and paying say.. 40mill for Lloris, a net loss of 15mill, but at the same time, you would be almost guaranteed in solving your goalkeeping issues for the next several years, compare that to say, if we buy Hummels for a 35mill outlay, with relatively zippo coming in to offset the fee, a net loss of 15mill~ for a position doesnt seem as bad?

Trust that De Gea and Curtuois are in a league of their own, but we should be aiming for the next best option, which in my opinion based on the last couple years of watching the Premier League is Lloris, we essentially pay 15mill and move on with our lifes.

Mattia Perin of Genoa.

Excellent shot stopper, only 22 years of age, has great reflexes, consistently puts in stable performances, and can stay concentrated for 90 mins which is a prerequisite for keepers at top clubs. His biggest and perhaps only weakness from a goalkeeping perspective is distribution but IMO training under Van Gaal and observing Valdes on a weekly basis will help him iron out that flaw. The latest from a conveyor belt of great Italian goalkeepers which also includes others talents like Leali, Scuffet or Bardi, has already been capped for Italy at the international level, has Top 5 keeper in the world potential and won't cost as much as Lloris who is very susceptible to lapses in judgement IMO.

Alternatively, Loris Karius.

I agree on Perin.

He is brilliant on the line, but what about corners/freekicks/crosses. I mean he will struggle with long balls at the beginning, he needs to adapt fast.

Games are obviously different, but Hoek is preparing him for the PL for 6 months, now.

Valdes for sure, I think he only signed knowing it was a strong possibility De Gea would be off as he's too good to play second fiddle season after season, maybe go for Cech also. I don't want Lloris especially from Levy.

Have you seen more of Scuffet? Heard a lot of good things about him, but he hasn't featured a lot for Udinese.

Karius would be my choice as Valdes' understudy.

It'll be Valdes otherwise what was the point in signing him?

No way we sign Cech, or Lloris as backup so no idea who else we'll go for,
