Release clause is last option taken. Negotiation of course do happen and unless dealing with athletico mostly fees agreed is slightly less than release clausesSo whats the meaning even of a release clause?

Always a poor retort. Are you atletico president because last i checked they are banned from buying players and are willing only to sell due to the clause.
Then he won't be leaving unless he forces a move. We don't have that luxury with De Gea - 60m for me is more than fair.
More than fair. Yeah we should just ask Madrid what's fair , maybe ask a lower offer so to be fair to them. Don't understand that luxury part. We should sell if he wants to leave. We don't know if he wants to. If he wanted to 2 years ago it doesn't mean he wants it now. Then he won't be leaving unless he forces a move. Ederson who has not even played at international level yet is going to City for £33M. De Gea is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world and has been our most important player now for nearly four seasons. He's worth every penny of £60M maybe even more. The market has changed goalkeepers go for a lot more these days and we're in no position to sell him. He's happy here.Because it's a massive amount of money for a goalkeeper. No goalkeeper is worth that.
People asking for 80 are absolutely insane.
No, De Gea signed a new contract with you at the time because if he didn't he would have lost the upcoming Euros. He leveraged his contract situation to force you to sell him. When did fell through, you leveraged the Euros to force him to sign a new contract.Last summer, only the paperwork was messed about on deadline day so it ended up too late to register him. De Gea was fuming they left it so late so he signed a new contract with us.
People said the same when we received record deal for Ronaldo. Look how that turned out for Madrid bargainEderson who has not even played at international level yet is going to City for £33M. So say we sell ddg for 60mn what then who replaces him, as far as i know there are only 3 players available who are nearly as good as ddg or atleast will be as good. Neuer, oblak and courtouis and none are going to be available for 60mn. Even getting donarumma for 60mn will be difficult in todays market.Always a poor retort.
If you think he will go for that price, all the best.
£60 million for a goalkeeper is absolutely insane - £40 million at most for the very best imo in the current market. Mind you, if you do sell him and manage to extort £60 million from Madrid then you will be laughing.

How much would you want Spurs to sell Lloris for?
I lol'ed.

No it doesn't depend at all in that situation. You're talking crap.It depends, Because we have been a club who let go players for mediocre prices.

but means who ever we buy as a replacment would be very expensive
Or ali?

I'd say about £30 million
Is Alli a goalkeeper?
Really?!
He'll only be 31 in December and he's a far superior GK to this guy City are about to sign (admittedly I haven't seen much of him, but I'm always a bit suspicious of Brazilian GKs).
For all the talk of £45m, City has apparently bought him for £35m. I stand by what I said last night, £50m would be a fair price for De Gea if he wants to leave. If not, he's not going anywhere regardless of the price.Really?!

And deal with summers of juve trying to sign him and he being home sick / gf preferring to stay in Italy etcNot another summer of this again! I wish DDG would just come out and say whether he wants to leave or stay and just let us get on with it. Donnarumma is potentially available and if there's a chance of DDG going in the next couple of years we should pounce now. Would be really pissed off if we ended up selling DDG late in the window when Donnarumma has already signed a new contract or moved to another club.
Yeah really. Goalkeepers do not go for nearly as much as outfield players
Does not matter in this market. The market does not pay for the player attributes and quality anyway now , Its all about the financial package.
