David De Gea

Does United have more fans overall than Madrid? Different surveys give different results, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Popularity is temporary and ever-changing (harsh but true), but trophies are forever.

The #1 criteria for "the biggest club" is honors and trophies. Everything else is secondary IMO.

Arise the mighty Celtic.

Do you consider Nottingham Forest a bigger club than Dortmund, since Forest have 2 European Cups?

Trophies are certainly not the only indicator, but they are the biggest indicator IMO.

But the thing is, unlike Celtic/Forest, Madrid have everything United have. Huge fanbase? Lots of money? Can attract the best players in the world? Check, check and check.

But on top of that, they have 11 UCL trophies, and it will probably be 12 by the end of this season.

75m Euros is a fair offer and the club will accept it if De Gea wants to move badly. We dont need the money and i understand that some on here are fed up with selling him, but football is business and i dont think the club will refuse a world record fee for a GK that wants the move

Hart has been one of the most error-prone goalkeepers in Serie A this season, he's made more errors than Donnarumma, who is still too young according to some on here.

Lulz. pity the Real Madrid blind fans. They tell themselves they didn't need him when the fax machine failed. What changed?

They gonna have to pay us a lot of money for us to let him go. And they can't take it.

Why? The last time we sold a really top player that we were desperate to keep, we got a world record. Every other player we have sold since then has been a player that we wanted to sell.

Fergie did everything he could to convince Ronaldo to stay but he gave us another year and that was it. Jose has already come out and said he won't stop anyone leaving if they don't want to be here. I took that to mean Jose would rather sit down and thrash out a deal for an outgoing player and bring in someone who does want to be here, instead of holding players here against their will and risk poisoning the camp.

Ballbag is hinting that it is United that are slowly pushing him out to leave.

What bollocks

If that was the case all De Gea would have to do is publicly announce that he wants to stay atleast that way we know where everyone stands

He also said we want to spend 300-400M this summer.

Absolute tosspot.

If Madrid are willing to pay 75M Euros, ask them for 90. Simple as. It's the same tax that gets put on players when we sign someone.

He's crazy. Only point i want to take is that De Gea hasn't told the club he wants to leave.
I cannot believe we would be actively trying to sell him. Complete BS.

I'm fine with Hart. Decent stop gap until we find the next young De Gea/Oblak/Neuer.

Was looking for white text there... You can't be serious. No reason we would want to sign Hart, Romero is an equally good keeper, if not better.

Ballague, the wum, is at it again. He concludes by saying that even if De Gea wants to stay in Manchester, he may have no choice in the matter and end up at Madrid (after arguing that United would under no circumstances want to give him up.)

He's been on the wum on twitter too. Baiting united fans with petty tweets. Also does anyone really think we'll spend 300-400m or more.

This guy has a problem in his life called " Man United ". He's hating us as if a United fan murdered one of his relatives or something like that.

I do find it odd that Madrid mouth piece Ballague is suggesting De Gea might not want to go.

I also find it interesting that only Marca are really pushing this story. Add to that the Joe Hart bit Im not fully convinced.

I also find it incredibly strange that Ballague would say De Gea doesn't want to leave. I mean if Real do sign him, how will the Real Madrid fans feel knowing that alledgly he didn't want to leave United. It's bemusing to say such a thing.

Still better than Romero, who some people are surprisingly offering to give a chance to, despite being criticized for his latest EL outings and desiring to replace him in the semis with De Gea. I wouldn't mind him on a cheap or for free instead of gambling on current options like Butland or Forster.
No chance.

I will literally cry if we replace de Gea with Hart  Luckily that ain't happening.

If Dave wants to go then go, he annoys the shite out of me with his unwillingness to come of his line to collect the ball, how many times do you see our defenders under pressure because of this , it can't be only me that has noticed!!
We are less dependent on Dave now , so either way I wish Dave would put this saga to bed for good, stay and become a true legend, or go and become a memory.

Balague reckons we want to move him on to cover the transfer costs in the summer. Says De Gea is happy to stay and that Jose has been playing Romero so much to test how we'd do without him.

If it's true that DDG has asked us to sell him, I'd go ahead... but I'd tell him that Real would have to pay at least ~70 million for him since he's one of the best goalies in the world. And then I'd buy Donnarumma...

Replace "I" with "Mourinho"

This makes no sense. How much would a replacement cost? Its not 70m euros and pocket it the plank.
Jose has already said we sold Depay and Morgan to fund the summer warchest, there's no need to sell David.

In no way would it be a good thing to lose arguably the best keeper in the world. It's the one position we really don't have to worry about. I agree though, I hope he signs another nice long deal and puts this pathetic saga to bed..

Eventually he is going to leave, he was always going to leave, we should include no signing for Madrid unless they pay above 120m in any future contract, I'm fed up how we look like a selling club to these cnuts please ED stop this shit.

Lol this is not true. If this is true, Liverpool should have been the biggest club in England since they were the most successful club before we overtook them. Biggest club = fanbase + prestige.

Madrid is the biggest club in the world. They have the money, the reputation, the history, the star players, the fan base, global popularity, the glitz and almost any other yard stick you may use. For the majority of players and coaches, joining Madrid is the peak of a footballing career.

They have broken the world transfer record 5x, won the european cup/cl 10x, and top the Deloitte money list for 11 (consecutively) of the past 12 years.

Several of the world greatest footballers have played for them. They snatched Figo from Barcelona, Zidane from Juve, and CR from United. You dont see a star player at Madrid being unsettled because of interest from another club. But Madrid does it to almost any other club.

This thread and the number of united fans getting their pants in bunches is the final prove of this.

Anything below 60m EUR will be a joke. And I think even De Gea knows it.

Btw I think De Gea is really classy in a sense that media are trying to spin this story so strongly for so many years, and he rarely gave any hint, acted very professionally. Absolutely world class player and a top man. Many here say that under Mourinho GK doesn't matter that much but I think Dave's presence is a big boost for the team.

I just don't see Real Madrid making United an offer they can accept. Nor do I think De Gea is going to jeopardise his relationship with United given the farcical failure last time around. If Real Madrid actually wanted De Gea they'd offer us close to £100m, we would accept since De Gea evidently would prefer to live in Madrid. But nothing in the media suggests De Gea is a high priority for them. They want a new keeper rather than a particular name. I don't get the impression Real Madrid's fan base is desperate to acquire De Gea either.

Perhaps when De Gea has one year left on his current contract, Real Madrid will be able to buy him on the cheap.
