David De Gea

I don't understand why we would do that. He has 3 years on his contract, there is no need to negotiate, just say to them no and be done with it. Or ask something ridiculous like 120m euros.

Why would United tell Madrid before the end of the season that we are willing to negotiate on our world class goalkeeper and one of our best players?

Dumbest/laziest journalism I've ever read.

P.S. He's going nowhere unless Madrid pay stupid money.

I mean, it's ridiculous, but also, why not? We have a game every 6 days or so on average throughout the season - the flight is 2hrs 30min. Private jet. Madrid for 3 days post-match with a personal trainer, training the day before at Carrington, where's the problem?

It does'nt exactly give a good image of Manchester to other players if one of our players wants to play for us but wont live there.

Maybe because we want to sell? There are reasons why we would want to sell. We can use the fee to fund the new players we need for instance. We need 2 top tier forwards to replace zlatan and rooney, thats 150 pounds atleast if say lukaku and griezmann. Plus atleast 1 more quality midfielder (2 if we need to replace carrick) and a centre back and maybe a right back. We could be spending close to 250 pounds before factoring players sales inflows.

De geas on huge wages now and we may also want to free up the wages for better uses. Its right though that real may balk at paying de gea what we are paying, so he has to decide if he wants the money or wants madrid.

This makes me happy:)

I do think we could end up offering De Gea a deal too good to refuse so he'll stay. He's young still anyway, he can move to Madrid in 5 years time. Screw Edurne. Raise the kids as Mancunians:lol:

If he's moving I'm sure it'll all have been decided back when he signed his new contract that if he ever really wanted to go again we wouldn't keep him against his will. Madrid probably knowing that won't be giving away key players. We will get a nice bit of money and we will move on.

We can spend £250 million easily and not have to sell anyone. Mourinho has freed up massive amounts of dead wood wages during his first season so that's not an issue either.

De Gea is class and i wouldn't swap him for anyone. However i accepted a long time ago that him living away from his partner is unsustainable really and i fully accept that he will probably want to be closer to her now that he is getting a bit older. I've pretty much made peace with this one.

Ideally she'll feck off her media career and come here. But that's not going to happen. I wouldn't live away from my family and girlfriend in Madrid if United were after me.

Not even for 250k/week?

If it was Madrid blowing United out of the water I'd obviously still go to United. Suppose it's a slightly different set of circumstances because i support United. Though maybe De Gea supports Madrid?
Which would be crazy to me since he came through the Atletico academy. Not doubting your idea, crazier things have happened, just thinking out loud

I fecking hate it when we sell players to Madrid and it doesn't matter if it's Ronaldo or fecking Dong Fang Zhuo.

Player power at the end.

Give us Varane/Casemiro and it'll be worth it.

Casemiro will be awesome. Him with Pogba and Herrera upfront and our midfield is sorted for years coming.

We should push for him if they are willing much for that deal and have no problem in making sacrifices or else they should search for another GK.

Plus Jose is on good terms with Perez. He'll smooth the way if it's what Dave wants but will probably ensure a fair price.

Dont forget Jose has said he won't stand in the way of anyone that wants to leave.
And Mourinho's agent is De Gea's agent too. He was never going to block a move if it is what De Gea wants.

Donnarumma is just 18 ,and he has a lot to develop. His catching and parrying skills are not very good and can conceed a lot of rebound goals in this league as of now. If we are to compete for biggest trophies he's still not developed enough to handle that pressure.
Neither was De Gea when we bought him. It's the immense potential we'll be buying with the young Italian.

Absolutely love DDG but his heart is in Madrid and understandably so. If we can get a world record GK fee then we should let him go.

Oblak would be a fantastic replacement.

Selling De Gea would be a travesty no matter how much you all convinces yourselves otherwise. Are we not supposed to be closing the gap on the worlds top clubs? This just strengthens a potential rival.

IF he goes fcuk the £££ we got plenty of that, we MUST take a player that benefits us.

Love how people keep bringing up donnarumma as the replacement. So in three years, you want us to develop him to sell Juve and be in the same situation as ddg?

Oblak is a no. It's either griez or oblak, we ain't getting both in one window. I'm taking #7 all day. I could see 2018, but the guy seems happy there. And atlectico
can almost match whatever offer we give him.

I give Romero a year, he's epl proven. Take navas, try for Joe hart or give Johnstone a chance as competition for Romero than go for a butland or oblak in 2018. Reinvest the ddg fee and go all in for a veratti or dele Ali.

Madrid and Juventus are completely different standards, Juventus can't throw money the way madrid can, madrid can match us for our money, juventus for all their trophies will remain a feeder club to big money clubs, they lost pogba to us last season, will lose dybala and maybe even bonucci to barca/madrid and city.

I think he will want to leave again, Can we turn his head by money? one thing is certain under jose we wont be selling on the cheap.

65 feels too less for Real's keeper for the next ten years. Let's gut the feckers for every penny they have.

He is going that is clear to see , well it is to me and if we can get £65m very good deal.
I dont have a problem with any player wanting to leave , he is Spanish and wants to play for Madrid, is that any different from a English player wanting to play for United or their favorite team?
If he goes good luck to him.
We have lost better players in the past, we will replace him.

I was surprised he didn't go last summer. He might have made a deal with Mourinho to give him one year before bring allowed to leave. Doubt we'll get much more than £50m for a keeper.

Why is everyone thinking we'd get peanuts for DDG? He has a long term contract with us, is probably the best / second best keeper in the world and top players move for top money. It's like with Ronaldo I guess: if the player wants to leave, Madrid has to pay top money and he's theirs. I understand his reasons to leave (if he actually wants to leave) and we will get a top replacement, no doubt. I'd loveus to get Donnaruma

...I'd loveus to get Donnaruma
He'd be a great signing if we could get him, but not sure with the Chinese takeover of Milan that will be as easy as we think as they'll be selling their own project to their star players.

But yes, in theory a great signing and Romero has proven a decent back-up who could play half the matches in his first season for him to get used to the PL
