David De Gea

Its time to stop signing madrid dreamers.

That's not realistic, many kids dream of playing for Real. They're the most successful team in the history of football.

As for De Gea, even if he leaves in the summer it didn't exactly turn out badly for us did it? We found a reliable GK to replace Van Der Sar. He stayed here for 6 years which is like half a career. We bought him for £18m and we're likely to sell him for a world record fee for a GK, or a massive profit at least.

Given the choice, would you not do it all over again? I would.

Not Varane, ain't he more injury prone than dumb and dumber (jones & smalling)?

He's had very bad luck with injuries, like Jones. His ceiling as a player is higher than that of either of those two though, and he turns 24 tomorrow. He's a year+ younger than Jones and 3 years younger than Smalling. A Bailly/Varane partnership would be something out of FIFA...having 2 CBs with their pace and ability on the ball would be such a luxury.

I'd say Ronaldo worked out pretty well too.

Hopefully we replace him with a quality keeper like Oblak/Handanovic.

If I had to bet right now I´d say that he will come. James+ 30m €

Varane has gone the same route as Jones, he's been average for a while and has stagnated quite badly, would prefer other players from their squad but you just know all of them will have the attitude of Di Maria.

Well its completely realistic. Same as like Many kids also dream of playing for united and we have to rebuild a club after Sir Alex's departure. If you continue the supply of world class talents to real madrid this rut will never stop. Sir alex could let go great players and still win trophies, but we are not in that era anymore, our honeymoon period is over where we could win with the combination of some average and some good players, and now we have to fight for every talent in the world we require to win the epl's and ucl's too. And a club like united should always have a strong team to compete on all fronts all the time , so if we have to deny the opposition of a competitve edge we have to get a grip of our transfer buisness.

We dont need the money from De gea sale , We need the best players to stay with us and compete for biggest trophies.

If instead of De gea we would have signed Oblak or Courtouis at the time , i doubt they would have ever dreamt of real madrid, and we all know they are same level as de gea. We just have to scout better, as generally All spanish Or south ameriacan or Portugese talents, settle later on in their culture in spain with the 2 spanish clubs.

I'd say Ronaldo worked out pretty well too.

Ronaldo was a once in a generation talent. And we sold him for very less , he was worth 120 - 130 m at that time too. Its time we get professional in outgoing buisness.

And he has managed on to win just 1 laliga in madrid till now. :D

Good thing is Jose will play hard ball and I am sure he will sign a top replacement should DDG leave

Hope we won't lose him, he's my favourite United player now. And maybe our only world class player.

Kroos or modric plus 40m is a fair deal.
There are many options, an amount or an amount including players. Obviously it is difficult for us to agree.
I believe that Madrid values Gea at 70 million, and would sell James for half of what he costed. That's why I think it could be a valid option.
it would seem crazy a while ago but I think the board would sell Modric if they had a very good offer , but I see it very complicated, seeing that he is very dear and would not be exactly popular.

I trust Jose in the transfer market but he won't be able to replace dea gea any time soon. We are not relying on him as much as we used to but he is still worth 6-8points a season

If he is going to leave i hope rinse madrid good on this one, anything less than 65-75 would be a travesty, if they want him so bad, make them pay through the nose, though i wouldn't mind kroos + 30-35 mn or Bale with us paying 10-20 mn.

70 m Pounds plus add ones is the real value in this market, which nearly takes it to 80- 85 m pounds. If you wanna gain something you have to loose something . De gea is very dear in Manchester too.

Exactly, I didn't know he had kids and even if he does would they be in this country?

I think its his girlfriend's brother kid. He seems really happy at manchester and supports the club. I wish david would ditch her, and go next level with their bromance.

Well, I see it from Madrid point of view. I continue reading about James, so maybe Mourinho is interested after all?

Madrid point of view is very biased one sided view, You'd be reading about james is madrid mouthpieces but there is no value in that substance, its basically come and get me plea, which mourinho and united aint intrested one bit. Not our type and Mourinho type of player and nither suits the system.

From Spanish sources, nothing from this side.

Have I missed something? Or is it just the usual speculation?

I'm 99% sure De Gea rents his houses over here so even if it is for sale it's no indication whether he's leaving or not. The old house he was in was exactly the same situatioon and papers made the same bollocks. Happens every year, as rental agreements tend to be 1 year and properties are placed on the market prior to the tenancy being finished. Would not consider this to be any indication that he's off.

Meh. I'm getting bored of it. He goes or he stays. We'll find out one way or the other when the transfer window closes again if not before.

IF he is going then we should rinse RM for at least £50-60m. Do not want Navas as any part of the deal. As good as Oblak is, I cannot imagine AM selling us Griezmann and Oblak in the same window. Get Schmeichel Jr, PL proven, performed well in the PL and CL this season and use the difference in prices to strengthen then defence and midfield

I hope Jose has been quietly but efficiently scouting GK's and ear-marking a first choice should DDG leave....put it this way, it will not drag on all summer. Jose will not stand for that. DDG leaves, it'll be done quite quickly IMO.

We are probably being set up by raiola to buy donnarumma to replace de gea. For 70 million pounds id sell him to free up wages given that its not very optimal to have your goalkeeper being paid top wages when our problems are up front. Id negotiate for real to give up either varane or kroos or both for de gea though. Kroos and varane are probably worth 70 ish maybe 80 total anyway.morata isnt prolific enough we shouldnt take him. James is slow, one footed and pretty underwhelming, real have wanted to sell him for 2 seasons, we arnt interested.

Long term benefit of donnarumma is he will still be 18 in the summer thus eventually becoming a homegrown player. One of the reasons real have been desperate to buy de gea is that he is a spanish home grown player, something they dont have many in their squad.

I often think the only football supporters who can afford to be so blasé about the importance of a goalkeeper are supporters of clubs like ours, where they've basically forgotten what it's like to have a bog standard keeper between the sticks.

I certainly remember the struggles we had replacing schmeichel. But romero will be able to smooth out the transition period. Financial fair play regulations mean that we too have to operate a break even income statement. And while yes we have huge financial resources, ffp still imposes limits. If we sell rooney, and not resign zlatan and de gea leaves, (our 3 biggest earners other than pogba) that gives us wage space to sign 3 top tier players for market leading wages. Mourinho will be able to shape the team the way he wants. Besides donnarumma is already pretty good and he is huge unlike de gea at 19. He wont get pushed around easily at set pieces.

Why are people suggesting we should demand 60m quids? that's too fecking low. whoever it might be, his replacement will cost north of £35m.

Just tell them to give us £100m or Varane + Iso/Asensio or feck off. We are as rich as RM and we don't need to sell anyway.

Probably because he's a goalkeeper and that would seriously smash the record Buffon set.

But yeah I agree we should take them to absolute cleaners.

Could demand Casemiro +£50-60m. Solves our DM needs too.

Heck maybe even Modric.

I feel it's true DDG does want to leave then I'd want him to go this summer and be done with it, we'll get a good fee. And if we do sell him we need a top class replacement, no Kaspar, Pickford, Butland etc.
